Landraces of India

Looks like you need another month or so. Wait for the calyxes to swell or you’ll regret it. Right now you would have yourself some hay to smoke… But I think in a month she’ll look completely different. She’s just beginning to build resin. Could even be 2 months more before she’s done. Doubtful, but it could be.

Yes brother @Barefrog , every time I try a landrace variety my intention is to make seeds. For the way I see things, I must make seeds of each landrace variety I work with. I am in this landrace world to try to be a preservationist and not a simple variety collector.

I have enjoyed reading this thread, as Cannabis of India covers a wide range of history and diversity, while not broadly talked about or much education around the topic.
Now I just got these seeds from irrazing wailing valley 2021 strawberry, red, and resinous selection as well. I don’t have to much info other then what was provided on a few seed banks. Any tips or info is appreciated. I’m hoping to grow a few outdoors in Colorado at 7000ft elevation 39 N mostly looking for a nice landrace female to grow at elevation in this climate. Might not be able to make it till end of October but thinking of ways to protect them, grow them. Better in pots with more light or natural soil maybe a little more shaded?
But if anyone wants some for preservation or breeding, happy to share! Thanks!

“ The flowering buds are usually bigger, chunkier and have denser resin coverage, which has an extremely sticky texture to it. The Valley falls under the Zone B.2 (subtropical highlands) and the flowering usually spans between 11-13 weeks where most plants finish flowering around mid to end of the october.”

That should be a very interesting garden.

Beautiful plants. I love the 11 finger Ukrhul leaves. Trimbak is looking nice too. Pakistani heritage is only an educated guess, but makes the most sense. Can’t wait to see some flowers and hear smell descriptions! Nepal looking like it wants to be a tree:grin:. Where are you in the flower cycle with all these roughly? Just starting? I think I see alternate nodes…

Wailing Valley is a sub ( side) valley of the Malana area, but its located at a higher elevation, giving the crop bigger flowers and a harvest about a week earlier than Malana.
Since you are located at a latitude North of the collection locale, the plants are going to finish a bit later for you than in India, because they wil start to flower later at higher latitude. It’s 2-3 days( later if North, earlier if South )per degree of latitude difference, so you’re looking
at an early to mid November harvest. If you can force flower for a month starting 11-13 weeks before their normal harvest in India, you’ll manage to bring them in earlier, like in India. Otherwise plan on a greenhouse to protect them. While these plants are hardy to frost later in the flower cycle, an early frost will stunt them. Good luck!
Wet/dry cycles in soil are best to pop these. Don’t forget a peroxide wash first.
The mothball pheno is interesting. Nasty nasty taste😁

There will be seeds from this Heirloom Tent (bukkake) session, headed your way soon enough @GREANDAL.

Oaxaca, Congo, Squirrel Tail & Bhadra contributed seeds. Still unsure if the Caribbean Dream had any say in the Pollen sharing

I’ve been sitting on an Odisha Valley project for a while now. It’s absolutely full of hermaphrodite genes, but I don’t feel like I have enough plants to go culling any. The stretchiest plants I’ve ever seen by far. Only one female is really flowering and another 3 or not yet convinced they want to do that even though they’ve been at 12 or less hours a day for months now. Growing outside in a greenhouse in Central TX. I had to pull them into the garage for a big freeze but they might have made it out in the greenhouse without my intervention. It’s hot, and it’s humid. Most other plants are tropical such as pineapples, kratom, Psychotria, Banisteriopsis and their friends.
