Landraces of India

Moar razor thin, moar good! Lovely expression, seems you’ve got some potential gold on your hands.

Picking up any scents/aromas as of yet?

Can you bring them down to 11 or 10.5 hours of light? it may help expedite the maturing/sexing process.

Haha yeah the poppa has the slimmest leaves and stretchiest growth pattern I’ve ever seen in person. I tried to include on the pics of the second, male plant that I actually have seeds! From so many female flowers! But it’s a truly intriguing plant so I’m gathering pollen. Unfortunately the shortest day of the year was December 21st so the days are getting longer, but I could maaaaaaybe pull them inside to manipulate day length.

Smells are lime and guava ish with a note of clean floral. Nothing chemical, very plant-kingdom smells. Will post updates and plan to do a grow log but I keep procrastinating. Then again, so are these plants! Maybe they’ll flower once I start the damn grow log haha!

Timber!!
Odisha down. After 5 1/2 months of flowering.
Still has mostly white stigmas and zero amber trichomes. Fan leafs gave up and foxtail started. She hermed mid flower on a few branches. Lemon and pine smells. After consultation with @Budderton, it was determined that she was done. Thanks brother for the seeds and comments and winter hobby.

Beautiful plants. I was just checking out phylos( fuck phylos) and Orissa is related to Kerala. The flower time suggests the relationship is to an old Kerala rather than a more modern one…ie Idukki Gold/ Kerala Chellakutti, rather than Sheelawathi. I see a resemblance in your buds too. Pretty. Long flowering time, but looks like you found a couple good ones.
@MissinBissin that’s gotta be one of the coolest looking “bonsai” plants I’ve ever seen. Man, she’s taking forever to flower. Can you drop the light hours at all? I had similar plants last summer and fear you’ll never harvest on 12 12 cycle, which is what happened to me. Mine went 35 weeks, and I do think I could have harvested a mature plant on 12 12 cycle, but would have needed another 2 months.
@RadioWaves very nice! I hope she smokes good for you. What’s your after harvest plan? (Curing process)

Morning @Upstate.
She (bhadra) is currently on the 11/13 cycle as we speak. I’ve hesitated dropping it lower because of the Autos I’ve enlisted to help fill the tent.

As of right now, I am going to 10.5/13.5 as there has been no visible penalty to the Autos whatsoever, yet.

Thanks for that heads-up. Where the hell did 35 weeks come from lol

Good morning! I dry everything in a refrigerator. Usually takes 2-3 weeks.

Phylos is a complete joke

The fact they they grouped by skunk//kush etc should be the clear give away but there’s so much more to discredit them. They used the hope of the community to extract the best genetics to mix/rename and sell later.

Information is only as good as its source.

…but… …they make such pretty pictures…

All kidding aside, I just have a suspicion that they are a long term threat and are not going to fade away quietly. (I hope I’m wrong…)

Cheers

Wow! That’s awesome to see another Odisha Valley grow. Mine have less room for roots and are doing the classic high-density thing with little to no branching. It’s cool to see how environmental factors affect the structure of the plant. Is that seeded or sinsemilla?

I love the song you added. Dudes from that time period looked like the were 55 years old but I’ll bet he’s like 28 in that pic haha!

@Upstate thanks! I agree I think the bud structure and resin coverage is good. I’m a bit disappointed that there will be so much hermie in the spermie, but I’ve heard that’s common w Landrace and at least I’m working on generating enough seeds to one day pick through and clean up that trait. The male is SO tall and SO thin that I don’t want to lose him entirely.

They will grow and breed the best genetics they received and will sell the info/ genes to corporate, going against everything they claimed would happen. They are true scum, literally building their fortune on the backs of a generation of growers unjustly persecuted for growing a mere plant.

Yes, but some info is useful. Kerala growers moved to Indias East Coast in the 80’s, and Phylos shows the genetic relationship. Looking for the extremely rare Idukki Gold? I’d grow Odisha.

Beautiful Rajasthani! From Bodhi?

Nope from a Belgium grower who got the seeds straight out of Rajasthan.

This is as low as I ever go and it has usually worked.
If you go much shorter plants can shut down or seriously retard progress, actually trying to get through the dark period.

This behavior is actually a useful indicator of origin/type, with the equatorial Sativas never wanting to quit while the Indica race to beat either drought or freeze.

My feelings exactly. That is why The old time growers deserve recognition and respect. They were true freedom fighters and many lost their freedom for years and everything they had. They have always been my heros.
