Bro thought the same thing, but there is also a possibility that these seeds are of wild origin, and if so they could have the dormancy trait and this trait has shown that those that have the trait will extend their useful life.
So some studies show the feral seed actually lasts longer due to a dormancy trait, is that right? When I was dealing with ILE and Lolab Valley Kashmir I got a second batch of seeds awhile after the first batch, and i was warned of likely poorer germ rates. Perhaps dormancy is just tougher to break? @deeez99 and I were just discussing small seed. We were wondering if smaller seeds didn’t last as long. For instance, Both of us have had occurrences where much more pollen was released than was intended or necessary, resulting in many, many small seeds coming from an otherwise bigger seed type strain. Would these last as long as Normal was the question. We both concurred that the lower amount of stored energy Wouldn’t allow the seed to last as long.
It is common for a seed with dormancy to spend less nutritional tissue than a seed without dormancy to maintain its basic function.
If you think about the fact that cannabis seeds in general are made so that they will sprout next year, or so that they will sprout next season. On the other hand, dormant seeds are designed not to germinate if they are fresh, meaning that they will not germinate next season. but in a couple of years it will begin to mature enough to germinate. because it is made for a climate that does not have what is necessary every year for plants to complete their cycle. We are talking about a specialist. This seed is made to withstand three seasons without germinating. That is the difference of a seed with dormancy, if it is the case that they had dormancy.
There are short dormancy, for example the one that causes the seed not to germinate in the Monson season and the long dormancy that in very desert climates, or cold mountain climates that mean that not all years are suitable for plants.
I’ve always had better germ rates ( 100%)with Western seed than from Landrace seed (60% average).
Seems like there are varying rates of dormancy in the seeds too. 25% of feral seeds pop in a week, another 25% in a month, and others may not pop til next year, all coming from the same mom at the same time. @Tlander just shared a link on how to break dormancy in seed. Maybe he can share it here too. It’s pretty much what most of us do. Cold storage, then gibberellic acid ( aloe). But there was lots of other stuff.I didn’t read yet.
Aloe and cold works great so far, but I’ve yet to test it on feral plants. This all makes me wonder about those other kashmir seeds. Maybe they have more of an ability for dormancy. I stopped chucking my " dud" seeds. They go into the garden. Problem is I have no idea what anything is when it comes up lol. I like surprises.
I couldn’t figure out how to link this one to OG without starting a new thread. There was no copy link option. Best I could do.Is that screenshot
Here you go! It’s not really all that great of an article, but every little bit adds to our knowledge base.

here is the pdf
I should have had about 16-20 in the packs I sent out I still have many left

Reminded me of a conversation not long ago.
What cashmere is that?
I love kashmirs
It’s from Shiv. Different from Bungus I think. Bungus will be feral, this one is semi domesticated and comes from South of Srinigar.
Dropped Nanda Devi, Grahan and Jungli (wild red-stemmed Himalayan - hand collected) for this summer outdoors
Nanda Devi already popped !!!
Charas (well bubble hash) this fall
Himalayan - red-stemmed
Need more Kumaoni seed?
@Upstate - Sure - thanks for the offer !!!
I am going through my oldest himalayan seeds - got a few to pop - including :
3100M - Seeds collected in the NW of Nepal by the Chinese boarder (really Tibet) 2 days hike from any roads @ 3100 meters (10170 feet)
Nepal Highland Sativa - I got them from Bama seeds years ago - surprisingly good germ rate
Grahan - just a few - low germ rate
Nanda Devi - surprisingly good germ rate, as well
pics to come when leaf and structure are more visible
Did you know how hard have yo work with Nepal genetics to get a really good keepers?
I’m just grow once Nepali Strain and was from reeferman, it was really good but some says it got NL on it
I heard that nepalí Strains just are for made charas
That’s probably why Charas and hash were often the method for processing, to be able to aggregate the harvest on average still providing a powerful punch but individually being a potential crap shoot? My understanding is that the Nepalese lines can be fairly versatile, depending on where they’re from. I do recall a specific instance of pantagruelion stumbling upon a high altitude Nepalese sativa during his travels that was very feral, wispy, airy, lacking bag appeal as we now it but some of the most potent herb he’s ever had despite the crude curing utilized, hanging in a barn
The reason a lot of them take work is they are multi purpose Charas/Fibre/Seed. Pretty sure Angus @RSC has some lowland Ganja ascensions from Nepal that Indians introduced, They are most likely more workable.
Was Reefermans one any good end product wise Elchischas?
