Legalization in NY this year?

I checked on this… For med home grows, it will be legal once the Control Board sets the rules. I read an estimate of six months from now, but the board has not even been selected yet and you know how slow NY State government moves…

We can NOW legally smoke anywhere cigarettes are allowed, can carry up to three ozs, and we can have up to 5 lbs at home. I think we can legally give away up to an oz.

I think NY is the only state that lets you have that much at home. In a lot of states there are weird rules like you can grow three plants, but can only have a few oz at home.

Last I read Med card holder can grow at home 6 months from the bills passing. So like another 5 months or so.
Effective immediately is the ability to carry up to 3 oz and you can smoke anywhere you can smoke a cigarette. Not allowed to smoke in a car thou.
I havnt read the entire 200 +/- page bill yet thou.
And more news could have came since a few weeks ago. I havnt been keeping myself up to date like I should be.
I also just read you can have up to 24 grams of concentrate and can pocess up to 5 pounds at home. They still wont allow selling it, which makes me wonder where do they think you can aquire 5 lbs of cannabis.
You can gift up to 3oz thou without punishment. Meaning no money or barter involved. At least one website says that.
They still need to work out the home cultivation stuff. But either 6 months, 18 months, or 18 months from the day dispensarys open on Dec2022ish +/-
I dont get it. Either its legal or its not wtf

You can possess three ounces, smoke where you want as long as tobacco is allowed, and gift an ounce, but you can’t legally get weed any way at all LOL. Crossing the state line with weed is still a federal offense

I walked through the east village tonight and there were so many people smoking weed. Blunt rotations on stoops, mini bongs in the park, joints on the sidewalk.

Beautiful thing to finally see legal in nyc. Gonna be the summer of public smoking.

The state said the plan is to start selling april 2022 recreationally which puts the recreational grow date at January 1 2024 (18 months later). I believe med card holders can start growing 6 months from the legalization date this past March.

Right now you can gift an ounce to a person so if you sell them a “consultation” or token item and gift the zip you could get around it. That’s what was happening in dc when they first legalized it.

I think you mean that home growing recreationally begins 18 months after the dispensaries open. Maybe Recreation Growers start growing in April 2022, but there would be no weed to sell at that time.

Yea I’ve seen timelines for rec dispensary sales starting anywhere from April 2022 to Jan 2023 and then home growing would start 6 months after for med and 18 months after for rec.

Anyone else going?

Doesn’t say anything about ticketing for NYC. I’d go.

I think tickets are sold out.

Im originally from Westchester (Sleepy Hallow, Cortlandt Manor) and then Rochester.
I just moved back to Rochester after being on the West Coast (Emerald Triangle) and am considering the legal industry out here

Does anyone know if home grow (mmj) will allow for outdoor growing, or will it be like has to be in a greenhouse with locks, etc

I think we are waiting for the rules. Definintely will be some verbage about the plants being secure. With the allowed plant count I am thinking a 5 x 10 wire fence dog run might satisfy the security requirements.
I know Cortlandt manor quite well…like before the “manor” part.

Oh nice.
I was in Montrose - across the street from sunset park, then my family moved up on Powder Horn in CM.
Im hoping to head down there this Fall to revisit my old homes and stomping grounds.

That’s awesome I’m 10 minutes from Caroga Lake, Johnstown. You ever hear of the Bleacker Skunk? Trying to track down some beans, this is an old thread, hoping some Fulton/ Mongomery County folks are still around. :star_struck: :exploding_head:
