Next round Iā€™m gonna add silica to the mix. The more I grow the more things I learn

She smoked really well. It was above average for sure THC wise. Not a 1 hit and quit deal. Everyone said itā€™s the best I have grown. I feel very lucky I even have them. They were sitting for a few years. I donā€™t like growing a plant if I donā€™t know the genetics. I got about 100 seeds. I would like to see someone use them before the go bad. Iā€™m sure out of 10 seeds Iā€™m sure you can get a few going. I grew that one in DWC but my cousin grew one in soil and the buds where still tight AF. Heā€™s new to growing so. Good genetics for sure.

I just found out about silica. Gives you robust stalks. Plants taking silica at a higher PH then what hydro is ran. But @ShiskaberrySavior told me that if you mixed the silica before the rest of your nutes it can be used in hydro.

So how does it work in soil?

Soil is 6 to 7. Hydro is 5.5 to 6.5. The reason you use it stays the same. Iā€™m not 100% about the science.

Here is a link of the Forest Candy grow.

Just made a fresh batch of sugar and yeast.

I can tell the trichomes are beginning to darken up just by looking at them. There not a sparkly. So she might be right on schedule.
I do like growing mushrooms tho. I will soon once my $ situation improves. They are fun to grow.

These are all my Forest Candy seeds. I have plenty to go around.

Hey @Chronickyle where did you get those washers from the seeds you sent? Those are the best out of all the ones Iā€™ve received. Iā€™m going to see if my brother will get me them and the flips.

One popped really well.

Iā€™m still going to keep the rest to see what happens. I have the rest of you guyā€™s seeds drying still.

Hey Mike,
Am I mistaken or is steady high temperature OKā€™ish, but wildly fluctuating temps are when problems are more likely to occur?

@Hoppy I think there is some purple on the buds starting. Itā€™s like a purplish brown kinda.

What do you think?
It is a little difficult to see what I mean. Itā€™s mostly on the Calyx

I had a couple of Gelato plants foxtail last grow. I took pics, posted, and sure enough everyone that weighed in confirmed it.
Looked just like this.

Yeah. Sheā€™s got 10 days to give me everything sheā€™s got.
Dose anyone know if flushing helps along the maturity of the trichomes.
I was thinking about throwing a tray of ice in her bucket to trick her into thinking she better hurry up. Dose this work?

I read that raising the temperature for a few days and then lowering it back makes them generate more trichomes for protection.
Thatā€™s just reading. That is only as correct as the person that wrote it though. I have limited experience.

Personally I think itā€™s more about genetics, and if you have supplied all itā€™s needs (looks like you have), it should max out the trichrome output.

That is just a theory.

It sure looks that way. A lot of trichome production. But Iā€™m wondering if itā€™s producing more dose that mean itā€™s going to take more time for the trichomes to mature?

Even the plants that I let go way into amber still had some clear trichomes developed all the way to chop.
In the middle of all that amber still there would be a shiny trichrome.
Those foxtails are all going to have new, clear trichomes. At least mine did.

with the outcome of the foxtails, I have one plant that the bud is entirely foxtails they are fine, but the plants that donā€™t form them - if they do form a couple those are shitty and green, I leave em behind on the drying line and toss them in the tincture sack. Lemme get a couple photos gimme a sec.

Them big buds ONLY grow what I call ā€œfingersā€ or foxtails.

Thenā€¦ thereā€™s the mutoid meat breath bud thatā€™s close to the light. Too close. Foxtails are always garbage here.
