LilJonB's Hopscotch Grow

The foxtails are shitty green, but the buds they grow from are fine right? I was just planning on using them for making butter for edibles.

I was thinking back to your shots of what I thought was Big Bud. They looked like they were foxtailing. I thought it really doesn’t bother you as much because you don’t grow for purely bud. It is surprising that they are concerned scraps as far as hash protection is concerned. Do you have any theories to as why they are not as good as say other bud?

Well, as for higher temps being OKish? I say it’s just not OPTIMAL. Think of what plants go thru in their natural outside habitat. I grew several years guerilla style in Arkansas. I can tell you the heat and humidity was fuckin brutal in the summer time. Didn’t seem to bother the plants too much. I always try to keep daytime temps in the 80’s. Even upper 80’s. I start thinking of cooling options when they start hitting the 90’s. Specially extended warm spells. I have had plant grow in temps in the 100’s. I know 2 years ago here we had over 100° for over a week at a time. Obviously not a healthy situation for growing but they came out OK. The harvest did suffer but the point is, those temps for that long did not kill the plants.

are you talking about the fox tails? I have been considering imaging the surface of one. Or something about big bud vs meat breath? The big buds earned their place by producing so much hash it’s insane. Meat breath was the runner up. I have very little concern for the “look” of a bud, it goes through a rigorous process that weeds out the losers.

I was having problems with some pictures when I first got here. They refused to load. I’d watch the complete % to 78% then drop to 0% and I’d watch that a couple of times.

Now I open all my pictures in MS Paint and give them a name to save it to…and they load no problem.

Looking lovely, @LilJonB !

Yeah I was talking about the foxtails. I thought you would be able to use those for hash. But then again I know you like to make top quality hash.

I see now that it was the Meat Breath with the foxtails I was thinking about.

Happy Saturday everyone! Hope everyone is fine this beautiful morning. Nice and chilly outside it’s always nice when my tent is at 75f with lights on. The foxtails are getting larger tho. It has to be genetic. Other then that she is super happy. The buds are Purple. Imagine a dark purple with gray in it. That’s as close as I can describe it. Hopefully the color keep spreading. 11 days to go. I know soil folks start flushing about 2 weeks before they want to be done. I’m thinking 7 to 5 days for dro? I’m worried that flushing might make the foxtailing worse. But on the other hand flushing her will bring more color. What to do… what to do.

Is this because the resolution of your pictures are too high? The only issue I have is if the file is too large or if I use the multiple picture function some of the pictures won’t show.

I bought some pads on Amazon they’re easy. I hung them from the ceiling. I used yeast and sugar the smell of pancakes in the more was pleasant

I see the purple coming, don’t hold to the 12 week as set in stone thought @LilJonB. You might run a week or two past. I’d wait to start flushing when you have solid color in the trics. Just me idk.

I got a little dark purple on the rest of the seeded branch. It looks like brown in the picture.

Sorry I’m catching up on the feed, I dont know “foxtailing” per se’. I’m ignorant to terminology. I had the curling from heavy tricombs on the leaves coming out of flowers.

Foxtailing is fingers of buds growing off the buds.
I’m really trying my hardest to hold. The buds are turning tho. I thought would see it in the leaves before the buds but I was wrong. I never grew anything that turned purple.

Her mother had solid green leaves, the meat of the buds was purple. Underneath the leaves was purple like yours. The last one I flowered went all purple but the bud consistancy was nil. All leaves and tricombs. I believe your girl will look like her mother :+1::+1::+1::facepunch::facepunch::facepunch::smiling_face_with_three_hearts::smiling_face_with_three_hearts::smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

She looks and smells good. The foxtails is the only turn off for me. It happens sometimes. Did any of yours do this?
Your yeast and sugar smelled like pancakes? Lol. Mine smells like a flat beer. The only time I smell it is if I put my nose in it. You must have made a huge batch! Lol.
I want to thank you again for sending and trusting me these seeds. I will grow more of these. You should see more people growing them once I send seeds out to the community. Can’t wait to see how other people do with em.

I know people use tweezers to handle there seeds. What is the protocol collecting seeds. Yeah after I collect them I put them in a cardboard tray to finish drying. After that they do not get touched again. I have heard of people washing them H2O2 to kill anything on them before germination. What is your process?

I break buds up and clean seeds out, they’re tough you dont have to use tweezers, though do when picking them from a live bud. I have never washed them, seems silly to me but I’m old. If you’ve left buds dry before cleaning them out then they’re ready for storage.

Some people are funny about handling seeds when they plant them. So I was just thinking that some might go to the extreme of using tweezers collecting as well.

BLAH BLAH BLAH
It’s good if you are starting to grow and want to jump right into hydro. Other then that :-1:
I did learn a few things. No A HA! Moments.

This should be a little better

I know it’s probly a no-no, but I personally have never used anything but my fingers to handle seeds I’m talking about transferring from paper towels to media. Now I don’t grab the tail but I gently pick up the sprout by the helmet and place in a prepared hole. I never have had a problem with the sprout breaking ground. Maybe just dumb luck???
