Yep. I signed up here just a couple weeks ago. I tried to grow a bag seed with a regular light bulb in my older brother’s apt closet when I was 16, but this is my first real attempt at growing anything. My plan is to do all organic unless I need to lean on other nutes to get me out of a jam.

I’m new to the site and the species.

I have a cheap led that I found at Wayfair.

Posted a pic in my grow journal .

I also have a local mentor with a bunch of indoor growing time under his belt.

I found this of interest last night on the net.
I was illuminated by these very words, in regards to CANNABIS…the plant.
Good stuff wanted to share

LIGHTING DURING THE VEGETATIVE PHASE
The cannabis grow cycle features two distinct phases: the [ vegetative phase ]( and the [ flowering phase Manipulating the [ light cycle ] during both of these phases can result in a faster pace of growth. During the vegetative phase (when plants feature only fan leaves and have not started to bloom), indoor plants are usually vegged under 18 hours of light and 6 hours of darkness per day to provide the best conditions for photosynthesis and respiration to occur.

However, by providing 24 hours of light per day, you will force your plants to remain in an anabolic state (the process of converting smaller molecules into larger molecules). This is because they will be photosynthesising around the clock and constantly using light, CO₂, and water to create glucose as an energy source to fuel growth.

LIGHTING DURING THE FLOWERING PHASE

The light cycle will need to be changed during the flowering phase depending on the genetics being used. [ Autoflowering ] (strains don’t require a change, a topic we’ll delve into later in this article. However, traditional [ photoperiod ] strains require extended periods of darkness to begin flowering. This trait is due to the rhythms of nature; plants evolved to begin flowering when the days begin to get shorter and the harsher conditions of autumn approach. Lack of light is a signal for them to begin reproduction.

To initiate flowering and increase the speed of the flowering phase, a light cycle of 12 hours on and 12 hours off is usually recommended. There is, however, the option to run an 11/13 light cycle, which will make your plant hurry up in fear of the approaching change of seasons. Some growers do both, starting with 12/12 at the beginning of bloom, then moving to 11/13 at the latter half of the phase.

Another trick to speed things up massively is to avoid the vegetative phase altogether and begin flowering your plants immediately after germination has occurred. This can be achieved by applying a light schedule of 12/12 immediately and throughout the entire grow cycle. Although a rapid way to produce flowers, yields will be sacrificed for speed. Plus, this trick is only compatible with photoperiod strains.

easier to find a large cardboard box from under the refrigerator etc.

I had the same idea. Like an individual house for each plant. One could have a roof and cover the top for the dark period… I have some old rain barrels that would work as well to house
a plant. The rain barrels could be used to have more control growing outdoors as well.

I have about ten old rain barrels I could use.

thanks for the ideas.

will you be comfortable? i not sure really.
little space inside.
it’ll work.
perforated bottoms?
How to connect it in duct? one hole from the top or two holes (inline)?
And yep, your barrels from metal? Reflect light inside?
you can grow in vertical style(light source in the centre)))

I have added a second L E D light source doubling the light and I have domed the plants , as well as enclosed the lights with foam insulation. Hoping this will jump start the plants.

In my second grow , I am 3 4 3 with the BEAR CREEK …MONKEY MASACRE is 1 4 3.
Mystery seeds 0 4 9…either I have a bag of duds or I suck at seed starting.

I’m gonna suggest a new name…( DOC’S DUDS ). at least they were free. x

BREAKING NEWS…I just ordered a new batch of seeds. I have ordered Afghani, Lemon Skunk , and, Blue Cookies, ( 20 seeds each ) hoping to find a mother. These seeds r from SD…CA.
