that’s a good idea! I’ll rub some between my fingers. I better run down there and rub some freeze dried hash between my fingers right now! hmm it melted into a shiny rosin.
regular hash is like fine flour, pressing hard and rubbing melts it into a ball.
quick dried hash is like fine flour, pressing it hard and rubbing turns it into a ball.
seems like quick drying it might have cost a little bit in terms of the melt, I’ll make sure that’s real first though. In the melt test
ahh forgot to mention I kept some freeze dried hash around from the last batch. That’s what I’m testing while I wait for this batch to complete the cycle. I predict freeze dried will win in the matrix - it’s got lots of positives.
lol oh yah fuck me after I rubbed that shit into a ball I forgot to take a photo, instead I popped them into my mouth and terp tested them! oooooooops! hah I’ll have to do that test over again and photograph it.
ok this:
turned into this:
I admit some of the hash I accidentally melted in the palm of my hand by overdoing it. mm hand smells good! Terp Alert!
hah hah hah looking back at all the things I do to hash and cannabis buds in general, I know it would make people cry - to see all that destruction of product. Those hits I ate could have made a hippopotamus high off their ass.
Now this freeze dried hash is ready for rolling into balls, or whatever…ripping to your dome. etc. Now here’s the part I never told anyone…my closely guarded secrets…The longer you leave it in there, the more it resembles glass. SHHHHH don’t tell the competition ok?
I’ll just call it “winterizing your hash” lol
oh my. I was looking at my ancient photos and I saw this. My first bubble hash! ISNT IT AWESOME?!?!? TELL ME IT’S AWESOME!
This is before I had high resolution optics.
My hash quickly improved!
then… My hash entered the next iteration after talking to hehatchi.
lol if there is hope for the younger version of me, then there is hope for anyone! If I cranked out garbage like that nowadays I’d be…definitely thinking of ending it all.
oh yah and the nuts part is, I went back to the original guy who taught me to make that first brown lump. I showed him the lumps from the final photo and told him there were many improvements to be made to the process. He doubted the improvements, and I bet he never tried them. That’s what confirmation bias will do to a person.
Your 1st photo looks exactly like the black hash we scored through the 70’s.
Cheers

hah hah yah when I made that hash, I thought it was normal. Turns out… Don’t touch the hash. Rinse out the green. Don’t blot the water with a newspaper. hah hah. Seems so lame now, all that stupid shit.
But hey! I’ve now manufactured 110 grams of hash and I’m still going. Someone call the hash police, there’s far too much of it One day I’ll photograph the lot, so people can see what overproduction looks like. Here’s the latest photo of the freeze dried hash! Remember, it’s already in dab-able form, but now we’re winterizing.
see how it’s turning into total powder? That’s a good thing!
ok and another 24 hours.
it’s just slowly becoming dust frozen dust! I used to leave it in there for a month lol! but I’m pretty sure the changes stop after 1 week of being frozen it won’t get any more like glass than it is.
yah I know, I’m only doing a small bit of it into freeze dried. It’s due to apathy. I could cut up an entire blob of hash into tiny bits and put it into the freezer to dry. hmmm… perhaps it’s a good idea. I should save a huge batch for next year’s contest. I wonder if I could keep from ripping it for that long?
Lol, The idea of drying something in a regular freezer makes no sense to most people, but when you ask them what freezer burned food is like, then it makes sense.
heh heh that’s exactly right. I just lifted the concept from freeze drying thin slices of apple in the freezer to drying hash. It’s all about thermodynamics! Standard Temperature Pressure. The ice sublimes into a gas if there is a slight change in pressure when it’s really cold. Ever notice how your ice cubes in the freezer slowly evaporate? Freeze drying.
The miracle of frost free refrigerators. Gotta love 'em!

phew, it’s been a long haul… uhh or something? Check this shit out.
left to right: shelf dried(old hash now!), quick dried(fresh and spicy!), freeze dried(fresh and fruity!)
I love them all, they all make me feel happy inside. I think my demonstration on color… changing? manipulation? results? Some kind of color study! My thanks to @Gpaw, for asking the question so long ago. Even if I don’t really know the answer, gimme a bit to observe and hypothesize…then voila! The only thing left is to generate the table of results and then present them for discussion! I’ll do the melt test…mmmm can’t wait. And hopefully I’ve now detailed the freeze drying process, so that anyone can do it with just a freezer. I left it in there a week for maximum glass-like-ness under the microscope, apparently it’s even more transparent than freeze dried from a freeze drying machine. Can’t wait to next level this shit, using the things I learned at the contest/expo.
ohh wait I forgot about the “floating the hash out” trick. I have to immortalize that tech for everyone to see. I think it’s the most unique one of the batch, producing a rosin out of the hash just using water and an impermeable surface.
ok the trick is to make a suspension of water and bubble hash. Then you spread that out into a thin layer on a non stick impermeable surface. The thing is, you can’t make…a pool of water. It has to be primed to evaporate quickly and leave a sheen of hash behind. There can be no chunks! Only trichomes floating in a sheen of water ok? Then it evaporates over night and leaves a sheen of hash behind and the water is gone. Start gathering the hash up, it’s really sticky and clear. That’s why a non-stick surface is good. I usually use the tips of my scissors and some parchment. Well… You know how to clean up rosin eh? Use a tool
