My very first cross! *Trial run

Gonna try this stuff for the last 2-3 weeks of each plant. Started using it on the larger plant, but it’ll be a week or two before I start using this on the smaller two plants.

I like what this product is aiming to achieve . It’s a finishing product without a plain water flush, which can apparently exacerbate problems like bud rot if fattened buds get deficient in something like calcium.

Basically, I just mix 10-12 ml per gallon along with my Botanicare Hydroplex pk booster @ about 5ml per gallon. 8 drops of pH down, and we’re in business :+1:

Looking fantastic. Those don’t look like @RookieBuds those look at least journeyman…
I’m looking forward to a smoke report on these beasts.

LOL thanks @Strikingviking :metal: although I’m now 4+ years into growing, I’m definitely no longer a rookie, but, I do retain what I’d call a “rookie’s sensibility” to growing; my main goals are to keep things as cheap as possible while maintaining optimal quality, and also “minimal moving parts”, I do as much stuff by hand (watering, trimming, etc) as I can to reduce the number of tools or devices I might otherwise need.

I also feel like I’m ALWAYS learning or striving to learn new tips, tricks, hacks etc., so in a sense I always seem to have this rookie’s sensibility to also learning, all bright eyed n bushy tailed :rofl::+1:

One day, I might look into things like drip systems and maybe even a portable a/c to perfectly dial-in my environment, but in the meantime “Less is More”

Ha! Nothing wrong with keeping it simple. My first grow table was cinder blocks wire grating and chunks of wood wedged so the water would run into a section of rain gutter. As my body gets ignorant as I get older I am more open to creature comforts. This plant can suprise anyone, I enjoy learning and part of it is going through a litany of errors. I love that we have folks on here who are real enough to share the good and bad plant experiences so we can grow and learn together. I still fret about random whatevers from time to time but these plants are Ancient and have an intelligence all their own. Sometimes I think about how despite us smoking her constantly we also move her around and introduce her to new places and people. Who’s really in charge?!

Getting closer to chopping this big plant:

The colors are really coming out, but I’m afraid it’s gonna start foxtailing.

The other two plants need at least a couple weeks:
This is the shortest plant, at least 2 weeks on this one

And maybe 2 or even 3 weeks on this one:

I might even pull that last plant at 2 weeks just to get this run completed. My 2x2 is getting overfilled at this point.

First plant chopped @ day 70. The last two plants need another 10 days at least. The smell in here is INTOXICATING

First plant down & trimmed! Holy crap, what a BEAST! 9.1 oz total, my single biggest plant harvest to date!

The buds on this plant were HUGE, I’m really good about breaking them down & not leaving buds too big, but many of these flowers were so tightly grown, I couldn’t find the breakdown-gaps like such:

Here’s a geat example, a really nice full bud but if you spin it around, you’ll often find these gaps where you can further break down the nug:

Most of these buds were left WAY bigger than I usually leave my flowers, but i seemed a shame to reduce them in size any further. Here’s a couple of my biggest single nugs:

This next one was almos a quarter oz by itself! I would’ve easily paid a premium back in my heyday, to get a single-nug quarter this pretty:

The aroma of the fresh trimmed flowers is SO nice, it’s this really fresh tennis ball smell with a sort of dank backing that reminds your nose “this is weed” :metal:. Dry enough to smoke, but can’t wait to try it after it marinates in jars for a bit.

Right on @RookieBuds , just got caught up! Nice first pull! That big one looks good but I’d wager the smaller one is gonna be higher quality. I’m looking forward to how they smoke for you, awesome first cross!

This time, the big girl was the shining star :ok_hand:. Had the structure and the terpene profile I wanted. The smaller two are good but not nearly as great as the first plant

Thanks @Trial-N-Error  In terms of breeding/chucking, I don’t have any immediate plans to make seeds. I’m pretty stoked on the run I just started that replaces this Trial run:

Bitchen & CSI Durban Diary I’m hoping that the CSI Durb will restore my faith in Durban Poison after a super-mid ILGM Durb grow :crossed_fingers: also can’t wait to see what the Fireballs flowers do, this is according to Bob Bitchen one of his all-time favorite smokes, so that’s promising

I’d love to explore this Chernobyl x Slurricane cross further, but I just have sooooooooo many other things that need to be grown out, and I’d like to expand my variety of available flower & that can be hard to do with a plant limit of 6
