Not Just Another Tincture Thread

Yes you can, and yes it will. That being said, I find it easier to make a tincture first, then add it to the MCT using a solvent transfer.

I always decarb at 240°F for 40 minutes. Tried and true method.

So with your decarb at 240 for 40 minutes you really get the ground up weed crispy? I’ve been doing 215 for like 30 as I’ve been afraid of losing all the moisture out of the bud

Yes, you want all the moisture out of the bud so you have less chance of picking up the water soluble compounds in the tincture. The same reason we freeze everything and work it cold. :+1:

@ReikoX And if I understood correctly, we freeze separately first, evergreen and decarbed weed and only after that we mix them, correct!? Thanks!

That is correct.

This is one of those truly Epic OG Threads!

I read them like a novel, one little “Chapter” at a time with pauses to dig deeper into the more interesting Rabbit Hole subjects along the way.

After thirteen hundred or so posts above, you can’t help but gain some “Grad-School” level knowledge about Tuncture, but you also get to meet all the participants!

So, it has taken me a few months, but I’ve enjoyed this journey and I’m slamming a stake in the ground at post # 1366. Thanks to everyone who has raised their candles and enlightened this path.

OG rocks! :green_heart: :purple_heart: :+1: :v:

PS, ReikoX, all praise to this hero, OG is lucky to have him.

Knowledge is power and this is one knowledgeable thread…bookmarked!

Can’t wait to try my hand at some GD Tincture, alas patience is a virtue and I’m waiting on and watching plants grow in the meantime. :slightly_smiling_face:

Hello @Reikox, I need some advice.
I have kept several lower quality flowers (hermies, or pre-harvested due to rain and/or pests, or lack of patience on the part of the grower).
I believe the temperature turns on a little.
Grain alcohol is relatively less expensive here.
Do you think this is appropriate for making a decent dye?
The downside is not knowing the concentrations, but as some are landrace, there may be other cannabinoids.

Thanks for your attention, and apologies for the Google translation.

Yes, for sure. The ethanol I use is called everclear and it is a grain alcohol. Just make sure you use high proof (190 proof or 95%) stuff. If it is lower, you will have some extra steps to make the tincture.

here I use cereal alcohol for years to make oil and it works perfectly, before the pandemic most packages said it was 98% but now I went to look at the package and there is no percentage, but a way to know if it is pure and leave one little of the alcohol in an open container and if it is pure it will evaporate everything in 24hrs or less.

That’s a new one to me, but everyone’s endocannabinoid system is different.

I’m trying to.find someone experiencing her issue or the answer lol  she needs something for her pain in joints but can’t use cbd.

Well. Finally have an opportunity to make some oil

I had everything I thought… Until I realised my jar won’t fit … I am going to use a jar with the clamp.down latch and rubber Flange…it’s not too late though I could switch and use a metal ring one but I won’t be able.to close the lid…
I’m not decarbing either… This is just some chunky trim from my first harvest to test it out…
I dont think the rubber will melt? It won’t be beneath the water…

On mine you can remove the rubber ring with a little effort.
Some are silicone rubber and they will take the heat. Some are not.
