I like to think of the Cuban black haze as the original. Seeds of NL5XHAZEA were obtained from Ed rosenthal in 1988 and brought back to Florida. In the early days (at least as far back as I can remember) it was mostly just called purple haze but it wasn’t actually purple. Dipset started the piff nickname because when you tried to hold it in it would make you “piff pffft pffft” and you’d have to exhale or you’d cough your ass off. Over time New York growers found their own bagseeds and at the same time people in Florida did a few different breeding projects (like the Miami silver haze which is actually cbh x ssh) after time there were different batches of piff which could’ve been either the same cut just grown differently or a bagseed or breeding, if it has that distinct smell it could pass off as “piff” no matter how it looked or what it was.
Top dawg had the cbh a long time ago but he lost it. Before he lost it he made tres haze (cbh x tres dawg) and black Nigerian (cbh x jjs Nigerian) I found a sick pheno in the tres haze during my haze mission and that held me over for a while until I got the real thing. The uptown brown lines from top dawg are all based off the “PiffS1” cut which is a bagseed found in a lb of Cuban black. Someone was passing it around as the cbh for trade bait. It’s a great cut though regardless just not the “original” that’s the cut I reversed to make my S2 line. I finally sourced the original cbh about two years ago and I gave the cbh to jj in January along with my tres haze selection so he should have some really nice crosses coming out soon with the legit black as well!! It’s definitely just gonna be going up from here, Piff will never be missing again and I’ve been making sure of it!! Shoutout to all the nyc haze lovers out there!!

Ya the ones I have is the black piff which is the piff s1 x black haze/mango Nigerian from topdawg as well as the puday holiday by diesel kartel which is cbh x c5 haze,and then also the seed source made some shaka Zulu seeds which is topdawgs uptown brown bx x BANDAID HAZE 3.0 IX #10 so I may find some winners in those

What he has preserved is exactly what Ive been looking for the last 25 years. I used to call it purple haze when it was around. Churchy incense fluffy but sticky nugs. I miss it so much. Im hoping to see him tomorrow and grabe some straight Piff and some harlem dreams. (Santa cruise Blue dream x Cuban black haze)
Unfortunately I won’t be there but I should be at their NYC event in December that they’re going to announce and hopefully piffcon in January.
I’m planning on the Black A5 Piff I’m running hopefully being nicely cured by then. Possibly some hash as well.

I beleive Doc is dropping Piff S1 beans either next month or the 1st of October. If your not on his mailing list you are missing out on

I’m on it and he always has some intriguing stuff each month. I have some Bandaid Haze from him, but haven’t done anything with them yet. Ideally, I’d like to do what @Derpterps is doing and run a few variations at a time. I don’t do IG and the PFC website is sold out. Gotta be patient for now. I’ve waited this long; what’s a little longer?

I picked up a pack of Bandaid Haze ix 3.0 and hear she is damn close. Slight variations, but I have read some people definetly find the Piff were after. I think Vernal told me to look for the shorter grow times phenos. The longer timed ones take a very long time and dont have the church musk. But the shorter flowering ones are the ones to keep for piff.
I havnt been able to do anything this year unfortunately. I hope you get to start some BH soon thou. This may help in your hunt when you get to it.
And if I am able to grab some S1s fron PCF Ill get a few to you.

i’m looking for the same thing and going to try and grow it next. Haze was the only bud i got that you knew exactly what it was when you saw it and the smell as soon as you light it.
It was darker with stretchy/stringy buds if that makes sense.
