Oleskool’s Shitkicker Grow Show. Navigating the Fog

It was 86 today in SoCal, but it’s supposed to really cool down in a few days, high-60’s for like a week. That weather’ll probably move your way soon enough. How long that’ll last, I don’t know haha. Probably not long enough…

72° today, 77° tomorrow, then highs around 90° all next week. I guess spring was nice while it lasted!

The “normal” 6 gallon Octopot has an 18" square base and stands around 18" tall. They have released some smaller models too which I haven’t seen in person. Knowing how much plants love Octopots I think the only concern would be height. You definitely need to give it a try. Maybe throw an auto fem seed in there that will finish before the worst of summer’s heat.

We’ve had a couple of weeks with temps over 100° outdoors, and over 90° in the crawl. I have a bunch of 4" fans, along with a bunch of others. Getting the fans blowing through the canopies, seemed to keep things cool enough for the plants.

My theory is that the air movement helps the plant transpire, keeping fluid running from the root zone out the leaves, but IDK.

I don’t know what kind of roof you have on the shed, but when I lived at the coast, we’d slather Kool Seal in the roofs of trailers, helped reflect the heat.

Check with @Papalag. He started late with them I think but is killing it with them now. I was supposed to get one from a member of another place, but no deal.

I wonder if the plant would stay cooler, or feel cooler, because the main mass of roots stays in the water at the bottom. Maybe Paps, knows it that makes sense.

Sure, but I would let George decide. It might be a load to ship it. maybe he could find out. How much does it weigh? Probably not much, I suppose. The reservoir is the largest piece.

You might want to visit some of those pics in @Papalag’s Threads. They grow beasty bushes without a lot of maintenance.

@oleskool830 if I can be of help please just ask

My indoor grow has reached temperature of 102 at lights on
Plants showed stress but made it

Humidity was more of an issue but extra air circulation, and pruning really helped

Hey @Papalag! I’m looking at 100 again today but then it cools off for a while. I did add tower fans in the flower tents to get max air movement. When you say “pruning” how aggressive are you with that. I remove all the big fans at week 3, I also remove the lowers and any leaves restricting light to bud sights. Then LITFA the rest of the grow. I got some portable dehumidifiers for inside the tents.

I do defoliate heavy weeks 1and 3 of flowering week 5 I do a light trim

But I find that Manifold style ,or mainlining ,fluxing, what ever you want to call it is much better and easier to control veg mass! Which is the major problem to control humidity

I had 2 Crater Lake that were standing but completely wilted. They will be ok I suspect. I always worry about herms when stress like that occurs.

That’s one reason I bought a taller tent
Last tent was 60 inches tall with my light and Octopots really didn’t leave a lot of room for the plants
We’ll heat stress , herms did happen quite a bit
Now with the 80 in high tent it’s so much different

Much easier to control
