One plant one light, been using this tech for almost 10 years

Pretty similar to how I ran things about a decade ago.

It is crazy how much things have changed with the LED’s.
With my hps setups, temperatures were always one of my biggest concerns.
I had a hps setup back in the day where my gro yo broke and the light ended up burning some my plants.

I love this setup so much though. It simply works.

I use some led as supplemental lighting in summer when temps get up. Up in the mountains always had cool nights even in august so temps were never an issue. Since i moved down here i hate summer…if my lights break i will probably look into better LED replacement. I been using some of my ballasts for over 10 years so they have earned their place in my garden many times over. They payed for themselves the first harvest so cant complain, unless i was a salesman trying to sell LED lights

I hear ya. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!

I WOULD like to try a grow with LED just to see how it goes. The energy savings intrigue me.

Aurora indica, looks like i could have been watering more. Roots were chasing water down ebb and flow fittings

Amazing grow @Outlaw thank you for sharing!
I haven’t seen a root-mat like that since the hemlock got into the septic tank.

Cheers

Crazy stuff with the roots! Are you in the Netherlands? Why no LEDS, power is pretty expensive here

I veg for 6 weeks: 4 weeks in a 3 gallon then transplant into a 10 gallon and veg for 2 more weeks before 12/12. Also, I veg under 1000w super hps.

I get a good enough yield that i am not concerned about the power bill at all, when temps get high july, august i do use some led as supplemental lighting.

Veg time is usually 4 to 6 weeks in 3gal container and then transplant directly into 2x2 tray

Thanks for that link

I use the quantumboards and get some good results - never tried a photoperiod so I cant compare, but I had an autoflower in a DWC bucket of 25~ liter pull 200+ dry weight… Under like 200w.
I guess I really like LEDs is what I’m saying.

You inspired me to run a photoperiod in DWC in a next run!

Someday when a transformer goes out in my ballasts ill try led going on over 10 years now with the ballasts im using. Let me know what you figure out with the led photoperiod, ive been waiting for a stable led fixture that they dont have to change or upgrade and then ill give them a go. With summer heat definitely makes me think about it more!

QB LEDS are the only LEDS comparable imho. I’ll never go back to anything else.

Hell yeah lets see what they can do!

I’ve got one HLG V2 550 RSPEC above these 9 that are in first week of 12s.

Same 9 plus another dozen or so in early veg, with two panels to cover. I could of gotten by with one 550 v2 but ran two nice and tight to the ceiling and spread apart so I could have room to move around.

Currently I’m in the process of working into a 30 day perpetual with around 15 plants in divided into 5 stages. 15 in a cloner and 15 buckets in early veg, 15 in late veg, 15 in early flower, 15 in late flower. My veg space is 11x11 and my flower space is 12x12 but basically confined to the framing of a 10x10 tent except ive used the fabric from the tent to create a panda paper like enviroment, while keeping the frame intact for easier canopy operations. I’ve also got the option to expand into another 13x13 space just sitting unused.

Once in full swing I’ll be able to cover this with a total of 5-6 HLG 550 V2 RSPEC panels.

Retail these go for around $850, ive the luxury to be within 30 minutes of their corporate HQ and have befriended the cofounder, Amit. So I generally get any model they have for around 20-25% off, regardless of how many i need.

My electric bill running all 6 plus two COB LEDs has not broken $200. My heat problems are minimal. Hypothetically each panel replaces a single 1000watt hps, however it does fall behind in some aspects compared to HPS, it’s still damn close across the board spec wise and the sugar production under Quantum Board Lighting is above and beyond any other type ive seen.

Some finished product, first harvest in a new setup after not growing for 7 years, all grown under HLG. This was a 2 plant harvest with 1 green crack and one lemon headband.

Nice! I like the veg isn’t stretching at all so thats promising on canopy penetration with light intensity. Have to get one for my veg and put the hids towards more flower space. What did you pay for that fixture?
