Part 2: Fun with Ace - Panama/Malawi/Haze

Back at it! Round 2

I’m reviving this thread under a new name. I’m bringing all the Ace gear you saw earlier full circle. Here’s a picture review:

The Moms

Panama Haze

Super Malawi Haze

The Dad

Malawi/Panama

Hybrid Babies ( Nev Haze/Malawi x Malawi/Panama)

This is going to be a 3-way of 2-ways, involving Panama, Malawi and Haze from Ace stock. In my selection so far, I kept clones of a purple ot haze leaning Panama Haze as the mother for this generation. She is potent, not especially high yielding, but very relaxing smoke and very high quality effects. Incensey terps and purple hues in late flower, 12-13 weeks. Perhaps my favorite of the 3 Ace hybrids, panama haze is quite an exceptional smoke for any time of day. I’m currently trying to make my last experimental crosses (will finish with a Lebanese hybrid), so that I can discard the mom.

Next up, we have the Super Malawi Haze. When I grew these, I found a Neville’s haze leaning pheno with stellar yields, potency and incense terpenes. She has huge, dready foxtail calyxes and smells like a church.

To bridge it all together, the male gene is donated by the Malawi x Panama male. A strongly fruity and electric high. Very enjoyable and interesting, mouth watering, juicy flavors that are hard to describe.

The final product will look like this:
Panama / OT Haze x (Neville’s Haze / Malawi x Malawi / Panama)
37.5% OT Haze & Neville’s Haze
37.5% Panama
25% Malawi

First things first, root some clones and find a male…

Anybody ever grown Mexican Haze? I have one seed from somewhere, probably a freebie I got at some point. Might as well give her a try as long as I’m making haze hybrids.

I just saw someone else talking about Mexican haze. not sure if it was @SpeesCees. Also you ran the wild thai, what was you’re flowering time? swear I remember it being like 8-9 weeks, this right?

I chopped mine at 66 days, so right around 9 weeks. But I’m not sure what it really is… gotta be less than 50% Thai. Not a bad plant, and the smoke was nice, but I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone looking for a real Thai experience.

Yeah I already had it so was interested in watching that grow. they said like 18 weeks for flower so I was blown away by the 9 weeks. I grew out their kwazulu and that was actually a really nice smoke. was favorite of all my friends that grow. Now I’m a little disappointed in their wild thai but I’ll probably still grow a few.

I think they have listed about 11-12 weeks on their website. I was surprised, but it was ready by 9. Also, I planted 3 seeds and 2 were runts. It’s a nice enough plant, and I would say it’s worth growing. There’s just no way that it’s a pure Thai. The first time you grow a true equatorial, you’ll know that wild Thai has almost nothing in common. Pure equatorial strains really suck to grow indoors lol. The wild thai was easy.

yeah I’m looking to get some true thai. Have a friend over there now, we’ll see what he finds. figured give them a shot but they’ve gotten pushed way down my grow list. I have a lemon thai x bodhi tester going now pushing 10 weeks and not even close. Be interesting to see what you find this grow.

What do you mean by ‘smells like a church’? My brain just thinks of the smell of musty old people and shame lol

If you want to get a thai effect, without all the headaches of growing a pure thai (herm, super stretch, 16+ weeks), I’ve read that destroyer is a good strain. CBG crossed a colombian/mex strain to Meao Thai and then inbred for the Thai characteristics. In doing so, they were able to back off the flowering time down to 12-14 weeks and get rid of hermie traits.

I’ll definitely check it out. Thanks

:joy: well I do feel the Lord’s disapproval every time I toke it up. It’s all part of the fun.

It’s hard to describe, but you’ll understand when you smell it. Musty for sure… maybe like a big mix of old woman perfumes lingering in an old building with poor ventilation. LOL

I know it doesn’t seem appealing, but for some reason it is… like skunk, gas, burning rubber and all those smells that somehow become attractive when applied to buds.

Oh ya I know that smell. You could also call it bingo lol

Just some macro shots of the little NHz/Malawi x Malawi/Pan. I love sprouting seeds.

I had one Mexican Haze seed sitting around. It was a little stubborn to germ, but it’s popped and should be showing up in a few days. We’ll check it out soon as well! :+1:

I know exactly what you mean when you say church hope it keeps that smell when it’s cured it will be some smooth smoke

I think there’s a good chance this one will be pretty hazy. Both moms were pretty hazy – even the Panama Haze is overwhelmed by hazy terps. Malawi/Panama makes it a bit of a wildcard, but 2/3 are hazy so I think there will be phenos. Gonna make a bunch, seed party to follow.

Transplant

These are the Neville’s Haze / Malawi x Malawi / Panama crosses.

I’m starting them into flower today, even though they’re just starting out their 3rd set of leaves. Not quite 12/12 from seed, but I want to keep them on the small side… if that’s even possible. My goal is to find an A-grade male to take pollen from, to cross with a Panama Haze clone. I’ll probably keep one of these females too, because I know it’ll be tasty…

I’m bored, who likes pictures? Nev Haze / Malawi x Malawi / Panama in the top 3. They seem to be doing pretty well after the transplant and 12/12 schedule. In coco, it’s almost like transplants don’t matter, other than the watering schedule.

4th pic is the mex haze. I really babied the shit out of her to keep her alive. Major slow root development, but seems to be picking up now. A little outcrossing will do her some good.

Last up PH some cuts in the dome. Root up ladies, let’s make some babies.
