Times have changed……unfortunately.
The attached pics are a couple of Lemon Pie from Greenbud Seeds. I grew one of this strain a few years ago and it was the most lemony weed I’ve ever smelled in my life, so I got some seeds again and am growing out a couple of them. They’re both lemony but it’s a different type. One smells like bubblegum plus lemon, and the other smells like lemony canned meat. We’ll see what happens, I’ve just got a couple more weeks left on these and then I’ll see how they compare. I have a couple more seeds I’m likely to sprout sometime soon. I find that I like growing bigger plants so I try to do it a little bit at a time. I just recently seem to have gotten the hang of sprouting seeds again, which feels like a weight off my shoulders. I lost my touch for a long time and seem to have gotten it back.
I’m also flowering 3 Old Timer’s Haze ladies, one of which is showing a bunch of purple, which is neat. I’ll do my best to get pictures of them, but they kinda look like shit and my daikon plant is trying to absorb one of them. I don’t think they love the soil, and I am truly horrible at watering plants the appropriate amount, so they were in rough shape before I transplanted them. I had them in 1 gallon smart pots until they were a month into flower so they wouldn’t stretch too crazy, but it did work against me a little bit. Thankfully they have a good couple more months left in flower, so they have some time to recover. I still need to flower the males and check 'em out and get some pollen because I always neglect that part. Still haven’t made any dang seeds on my own, and I’ve been intending to since before I had even started growing pot!
Today I took my last final of the semester and now I have my winter break. Going back to school has actually turned out to be pretty excellent for me. The habit of going and doing something was good, and I had really just stagnated and had nothing to look forward to, so now I have a goal in mind and am out interacting with people and whatnot. I’m not good yet, but I’m pretty decent right now. I’ve been making a conscious effort to improve my well-being and it has been working, bit by bit.
Now that I have free time plus a little mental energy again, I’ll be able to spend more time in my garden and hopefully get to take cool pictures to share with y’all. A healthy garden is good for the soul, so I need to get on that. I took down those Lemon Pie plants and one of them does smell pretty damn lemony so far, but I don’t know if it’s really what I was expecting from my previous experience with the strain. We’ll see how it cures! I have a few more fems I’m gonna end up popping to see if they can get a little closer to the mark.
Hope all you rascals have been doing well and holding down the fort. I’m back to play in the dirt with you fine folks.
Hey that’s all good news. Interacting with people is super important. I’ve actually decided to join a book club the beginning of the year to try and meet some like minded individuals. Lookin forward to seeing your new grow. Your plants always to come out looking really pretty.
Good to hear from you brother.
Hey thanks bud! I definitely agree, and I’ve been forcing myself to say yes to more invitations and opportunities, and it’s been working out pretty well. I’m pretty introverted so it takes real willpower to get the ball rolling on getting outta my own head and leaving the house most of the time.
Good thinking on the book club! My sister in law started one a while back and it’s been pretty fun, but it’s not really my people, they’re all her friends. It’s funny because I was considering looking for one when she had started it. I’ve been taking an American Sign Language class at a local community center, and that’s been rad as well. Community centers are awesome resources for finding people! I should see if there’s something else I can find to do, like find a quilting or knitting group.
Good to hear from you too! Thanks for being a pal and checking in.
Hey y’all, I spent my afternoon messing around in my garden and just found myself on here reading a couple threads because I was getting stoked about plants. I put a bunch of sickly plants in my big grow bed and they’ve been vegging real big. I need to clean out my cloner and prune the hell out of these plants and then flip 'em, but I hate cleaning out my cloner. I think I’m gonna be able to take a ridiculous amount of clones off of a couple of these plants because of how bushy they are.
I had a bunch of potted plants in there and they were acting as a mulch layer, and they plants are so healthy now. Added some fresh soil to it transplanting stuff in there, and everything is peachy now.
Still busy as hell with school and life, but I’m hoping to be able to spend some time hanging out on here again soon!
Nice. I have that cloner. Do you use any kind of hormone in with the water? My first use of it, I just put tap water in there. Beautiful roots in 10 days. Second time I used it, nothing took off. I’m not sure if the mother was too far gone or the cuttings I took were from stems that were too woody.
Whatever’s in the tap water here, it really supports a slimy-ass stem in a cloner, so when I remember to do it, I put a little dash of hydrogen peroxide, but otherwise I don’t use anything. I always feel like I’m rolling the dice when I take clones, it really doesn’t feel like I’ve ever gotten consistent results. I have rooting gel, and I’m not sure if I’ve ever tried it. I think I just assumed it would wash off or make the water gross or something, even though I know neither of those are true.
Now this is just a little bit of stoned talking aloud here, but this is a grow journal and I’m talkin’ about growin’. I’m gonna be hacking away at my plants tomorrow, so I’ll get a whole bunch of clones to do side by side comparisons for rooting gel and various degrees of mutilating the stems. I always wonder if I’m doing too much or too little, so I think it’ll be a little interesting.
The problem with this cloner is that it doesn’t have a dome, and I do find that to be pretty inconvenient since the clones end up pretty crispy by the time they have roots that I’m happy with, but maybe I just expect too much before I put them in soil. I also procrastinate everything, so sometimes I get to it like one to 8 days later than I should.
Try and find a clear plastic bag you can put over the cloner to help keep the humidity up, I was the same with clones it always seemed hit or miss. I found using the best fed healthiest looking plants, and after a couple of weeks if they still had no root bumps I would mist them with a little kelp tea to give a bit more energy so the leaves were not eaten up.
That’s a great tip, I don’t know why I hadn’t thought of such an elegant solution. Thank you! Simple and effective, I’ll have to do that today!
Please pardon my blurple but I’m excited to show off the recovery of some tortured males. March 29th vs today. Plants really are amazing, and fortunately these fellas are all loving the heat and humidity in that tent because they don’t have any other choice.
Howdy howdy, happy 4/20, y’all! I don’t ever do anything for it, but wanted to hop on and check in. Be safe, have fun!
Happy 4/20 @parttime
What does one do for 420 when they already smoke everyday?
Hahaha exactly! I get exactly as high as I feel like it all the time.
I tell you what though, I had an incident where I really should have held off. I forgot that I had to go get a filling yesterday, and I got stoned to the bone 45 minutes before my appointment and phewww. It all worked out fine, but everything about the generally horrible experience was made worse by being as high as I was.
Hahaha. I tried to do a sodoku puzzle once when I was drunk. When I got frustrated enough, I decided to read something. Even worse mistake. Everything was so confusing. I could only imagine the confusion that would set in with some one digging around in my mouth while being uncomfortably high.
Uncomfortably confused.
Very excited about the state of my 4x4 right now! Haven’t had it this packed and healthy in a while.
Dang. They are looking really good man.
I always feel bad and embarrassed about having had shitty plants, but look at the before and after on these babies.
March 3rd
April 25th
Nothing to be embarrassed about in there!
