“Jack the Ripper”, maybe?
Bubba Kush would be brilliant
Gotta be Jack the Ripper.
So who would be running the Afghan then? Is there any interested party? Is there a donation?
I want to try to make it happen. I need to get another light and build a small cabinet to do seed runs. I just hope they sprout they are stock from 2006.
Yep Jack the ripper I’ve heard alot of good stuff about it never got to try it but hopefully that will change here soon.
Sounds like those two varieties would complement each other very well, but why not just try to knock a couple weeks off the flowering time by growing a bunch of them and keeping it pure, while selecting the quickest plants? AND make yr hybrid. Will you keep Burmese pure? 20 years ago I bought seeds from Vancouver Island Seed Company. The Burmese, g spot, and fucking incredible. I hit them with monsanto’s calmag, (has edta in it) which began them on a spiral towards death by some wilt. Now I know it was meant to be, but I’ve thought of all 3 of these throughout the years. Especially the Burmese.
I’ve grown Jack the Ripper…Great strain!
My phenos were pretty lemony…
I’ve made a couple crosses with it as well that were excellent…Ripper’s Widow and Ripper’s Gold…I no longer have reg seed
Definitely a strain worth preserving…
There getting wet here soon I m gonna wait for a full moon might need all the help I can get to get to sprout but I think they will be alright. It would be really nice to have a lemony 8 week haze and the Jacks Cleaner has quite the reputation.
I’m waiting on the Bodhi Old Soul (Old Mother Ghani x Pine Soul OG) that I plan to make seed from. I’m willing to give those out here for sure. I can make room for a pure Afghani if someone wants something preserved.
@Solowolf Have you grown any of Bodhi’s OMG crosses before? I grew his Smart Move (Genius Thai x OMG) last run and found a SERIOUS Afghani-leaning plant. Stretched maybe 25% and had these huge, fat colas everywhere. Didn’t finish early, though. I had to chop it around day 65 because of a serious fungus gnat infestation that would not go away, but it probably could’ve gone another ten days easy.
My point being, I think his OMG crosses would be a good place to find some real Afghani genetics.
I haven’t yet. I really liked the Pine Soul I got to smoke in Colorado and the Old Soul and Soul Food which is the 88G13HPxPineSoul seemed like they would be right up my alley. Then GLG has buy 2 get 1 free on Bodhi PLUS 2 packs of GLG freebies. Now they have the Long Bottom Leaf (SFVOGxJack the Ripper) crosses that look mighty fine too as freebies! LBLxKosher Kush looks fire as Hell. I’m open for a total Afghani genetic that needs preservation.
Yeah, any of those OMG and some of the Ghash crosses would probably be a good starting point. That Afghani-leaning Smart Move I got turned out really well. Smelled and tasted extremely tangerine-ish until about a month ago, after four months in jars, although the high might not be exactly what you’re looking for. I dunno if you’re looking for that narcotic, sleepy high type, but mine didn’t end up like that. It’s definitely relaxing and pretty spacey, but it doesn’t knock me out unless it’s the end of the day and I’m already tired. Good weed, though, for sure.
i’ve been taking a break from growing to get my financials straight so i can truly care for these plants. anyway, i’ve got a pack of bodhi’s hindu hashplant (la hindu x 88g13hp) i would love to donate for a pres run. i believe this stock came out a few years back and is definitely no longer available. i love kush and og and i’ve got quite a bit of those lines i want to preserve, can’t wait to share them with you guys and gals
I will definitely make a place for these ASAP. I’m also preparing for a preservation run on Greenpoint Seeds Maverick (GojiOGxStardawg) donated by @Swe-can together with @Joboo. @Old-Ron and I have plans to preserve his original pack of Archive Seeds Kirkwood OG and Hell Raiser OG F2’s by SoCalSeedVault of my own. I’m a Kush-head too for sure. May I send you a PM to see about your seeds? @gr0wn
I have a pack of Tora Bora I’ll donate. Aka spin ghar. This is the shit Bin Laden was smoking while we bombed the crap out of his hideyhole( I’m kidding, I dont know if he smoked).
From a farmer near the Tora Bora cave complex. Old school highland Afghani. Maximum height 4ft. Broad leaves. Drought/ heat resistant and Tough as nails. From the Landrace Team. Similar variety as Real Seed Co( or same collector)
@Upstate my grow is smaller, and I like to have some variety. I also like to plan some interesting hybrids. You are right the best approach would be to take the time to select for earlier flower.
I hope to keep the burmese pure if it works out. I only got two of the BC Burmese to sprout roots but I don’t think either will make it. One I already broke the root on The other is very weak.
Fingers crossed it lives. I think it will. Maybe that cross of yours was meant to be…I hope you don’t think I was knocking your cross at all. To the contrary, I bet it will be great. With that said, that Burmese isn’t common anymore. That eastern Manipur looks great they way it is too. Probably only grown in a few villages, and one educated kid away from being hybridized. If you preserve both, ( a seed increase) and then do yr hybrid, you will have 3 great varieties at hand. Two of them landraces. The best of both worlds. OR… do both! Keep em pure and make yr hybrid. Hit branches on the opposite sides of the plant, down low. One pure, one hybrid. Make the pollination a week apart if possible, and spray down the Plant when you are done with each pollenation. I use different colored twisty ties on the branches.Seeds to come from the branch of the known pollen donor get labeled as such. Seeds from other branches go into the crapshoot category. Obviously this isn’t foolproof, but when you grow them out you’ll know what you have. It’ll be easy to Rogue out the undesirable. Have fun! My apologies if you knew all this, and it seems like you know what’s going on… this is for the new guy that doesn’t😉
I wish I had more Burmese to give you. I do have a couple landraces from that area that are not well known. Eastern India. Not as short of a flowering time as Burmese. Around 14 weeks.
I think that’s exactly what we are looking for out of this thread. Something totally Afghanistan we don’t have a chance at very often. I’m in Arizonastan, so the Fall is probably right for these. I will contact you shortly to work out the details. Uncommon generosity is our brand here my brothers!
