Preservation seed run with afghan genetics

That might work, It would definetly weed out anybody trying to get ahead on you but it might weed out everyone willing to do it too. Building some kind of trust with them first might help too, maybe do a trade or search through their posts and see if they seem reliable enough to send seeds. Sorry to hear of your misfortune, what were ya planning on reproducing?

I think the key phrase is, ā€œno one hereā€. I donā€™t think something like that is either necessary or desirable on OG. This community polices itself, thatā€™s what Trade Feedback is for.

Think about it, if you have to hold money over someoneā€™s head to compel their honesty, youā€™re not dealing with an honest person. Youā€™re dealing with someone who can be bought, and that means if someone rolls up with $125, and wants the whole run, those seeds are gone.

Donā€™t get me wrong, itā€™s not a bad idea, and I certainly understand the reason behind it. It may be a smart thing to do on other sites, but OG isnā€™t another site.

It sucks to get burned, and if it happens enough it does make you dis-trustful.

I would strongly encourage you to check out Trade Feedback, and read through some of the Seed Run threads. Some of them are long, but seeds fly around like pollen in those threads. :grinning: There are a lot of good people on OG, and if you look around a bit, it doesnā€™t take long to spot 'em.

Donā€™t forget, while you have to be at a certain level in order to sign up to get seeds from the Co-Op runs, anybody can do a seed run.

Glad youā€™re here @Comacus.:vulcan_salute:

Nothing in particular. I probably have 50 preservation runs planned, and try to do one or two per year.

Currently I was enthralled with Aceā€™s Eastern Manipur Burmese and its blue buds. So my current plan is to try to shorten the 14-16 week flowering time by crossing it with a BC Burmese I got from a friend several years ago that has a 10-12 week lead time.

Iā€™ve had the BC Burmese in cold storage for the last 5 years. So far none of them germinating so I may need to come up with plan B.

I also have a 24-26 week Burmese landrace but that one will take the Eastern Manipur in the wrong direction.

Here is a picture of the Eastern Manipur from ACEā€™s catalog.

That would be interesting to pick through those and try to find the blue, fast flowering phenos huh? Cool idea.

I could see how that would get addictive with project ideas like that. You would definitely end up with more ideas than time.

Itā€™s uncertain if Bodhi will be remaking his Oldschool Hashplant, So I will be making an OSH increase in a few months and possibly Slip in my 89 Northern Lights #5 (Pheno #7) :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

that blue is just asking to be smoked !!!

this could be worth the research to develop it furtherā€¦

That is some beautiful looking bud. Would be a good one to reproduce and keep around for sure

That would be a much better strain to be named Blue Dream than the one that is. Beautiful!

Iā€™m fascinated by the Burmese! Iā€™m in the Sonoran Desert and many of the Sativa hybrids and ā€œlandraceā€ donā€™t do as well as you might think, probably due to the low humidity. I used to go through the old Marc Emery Seed bank website to learn about different strains where I would see it and BC Bud Depot has had it for years. Seems like itā€™s kind of a forgotten ā€œworkedā€ landrace. What do you think might be good crosses for your landrace or the BC?

I just put a Black Yeti and a China Yunnan in tissue too that I think will regionally blend well with the Burmese strains. If I donā€™t get any of the BC Burmese to germinate, I have a Snowhigh General Ho that I will probably start too. Might anyway!

I already had a Cali-O, Shut Eye F2, Mandarin x X18, Schnazzleberry #2 F2, Lifestar, and Viking IBL. If the Burmese pollen was ready in time (I donā€™t think it will be) I would hit all these with the BC Burmese.

I had planned to use the Viking if it was a male on the above. It does look like a male but is flowering with only 2 leaf sets on 12/12 from seed so think I will go a different direction.

I still have some X18 pollen if I run out of choicesā€¦

Like most of my projects there are always a few different directions to go depending on how it develops.

So much fun! Youā€™re working with some great stuff that is definitely not ā€œrun of the millā€. So glad to have you here with all the rare goodies you have. Please let me know if any seeds with the Burmese become available, so that I donā€™t hound you. Lol. Youā€™re like Pitbull with the seeds, Mr. Worldwide. :earth_americas:

Got any pics i got some freebies of that stuff was just looking at it today pondering

You know what they say if you want something done right just do it yourself. Iā€™m all about preserving genetics for future use and to share with anyone interested. I just received some seeds from 2006 of subcoolā€™s jacks Cleaner 2(JC X jtr) and Jackā€™s Surprise (JC X C99 X jtr) that Iā€™m hoping will sprout. I wish I had another light to use just to do preservation runs with but cash is a little tight at the moment with all the bullshit going on right now. I got my fingers crossed we will see if they sprout and I get a male and female. Depending on what happens I might make a hybrid but hopefully I get a decent pair to make seed with.

Do you mean tissue culture?

@Guitarzan sorry no, just meant in a wet napkin to germinate the seeds.

Are you considering either of those TGA strains for preservation?
