I think maybe he just wanted people to have access to a consistently purple line. I mean, how many times have you seen people say,”Got these Granddaddy Purps seeds, none of them turned purple!” or whatever? We can all agree that at least the PU lines actually turn purple, if nothing else. Either way, I’m not worried about it haha. Got like 20 seeds left, probably won’t ever grow them again. So if anybody wants them…

You all are hating on where he took PU F3 ? I have read it a buncha places now and wherever he took it from F3 , sucks . I have grown both Skywalker x PU F3 and Mother’s Milk #31 x PU F3 and both were great. Great potency , great yield , easy to grow. By far the best purple weed I have ever grown or smoked. I am pretty sure I have shared pictures of them in this thread.
So I am taking it all the hate is for the PU F5 stuff . Because PU F3 was really really good.

interesting. i guess i’ll give that Lush x Purple Unicorn [(Suge’s Pure Kush x Laos)x Purple Unicorn] a try. i don’t know but i would imagine that’s an F3 purple unicorn in that cross. glad to hear it may have potential.

It should say PU F3 if it is the F3 . I am actually growing out a few seeds I found in the testers of Mother’s Milk #31 x PU F3 atm hoping I find something like the plant they came from lol Really really kickass smoke.
One thing I found the PU F3 particularly good for was nerve pain. In my experience that is fairly rare for smoking . But smoking the PU F3 crosses was really helpful for it.

I donated my extra packs of purple unicorn f5 to bogs fundraiser. They fetched 280 a piece. Hahaha if i told you all how i really felt id have an angry mob outside my place.

@anon60559124 Yeah, I’m not sure, off the top of my head, which PU Bodhi used for that Purple NL2 cross. I do know that people have grown great Purple Unicorn crosses. And even with that Purple NL2 I grew, some of my friends really dug it. I didn’t, though. Something about “everybody’s cannabinoid receptors are different blahblahblah etc etc” haha. It’s true, though. I love certain crosses that other people hate and vice versa.

Maybe there’s just some dud phenos in the purple unicorn 
My purple nl2’s I took down around 9 weeks were frosty and potent, just the high made you wanna kill yourself, bad depressed/negative thoughts. I had to give it all away including the seeds.
Plus bodhi says the purple unicorn is "the best smelling high potency, high yield purple in my book…" So I doubt it’d be bap, just maybe some phenos aren’t as potent as others

Yeah, every time I blazed it, which wasn’t often, I definitely got way too introspective and questioned every “life choice” decision I’ve ever made haha! Which is weird, because I really love my life.

From what I remember reading, he didn’t release the Purple unicorn in the pure form until f5, everything before was used in crosses. So maybe it’ll work well enough in crosses

Must have been something with the combo of Nl2 and Pu haha. Ive had that sort of effect before and its not fun! Ive definitely seen good reviews on other PUf3 father strains - I remember the most common complaint was a barn / shit kind of smell in flower. Id like to try out black light fantasy soon (mendo purps x PU), which has some very good reports around, and have one other interesting Pu cross - sour cyclone x PU that sounds like a good CBD/Thc hybrid.

i forgot to mention, trimming the purple unicorn was a major pain in the ass. it would have taken an insane amount of time if i hadn’t used this new 'rubber basting brush" method.

Anyone tried out the Cherry Unicorn yet? Fat Cherry Afghani x PUF3 sounded good when I was shopping Headie Gardens at the Thanksgiving sale, I picked that and the Purple Soul up to try this PU myself, I’ve only tried Roadkill Unicorn from the dispensary, and even there I could tell there was something special about the terps on this one, the berry and barnyard odors are two of my favorites. Popped two in my latest tray of seed starts, I’ll throw up some photos as they get older.

I’ve grown Smart Move (Genius Thai x OMG) and have one Soar (Colombian Red x OMG) growing right now. Got a couple Dread Bread (Mango Biche x OMG) packs in the fridge, probably a few others OMG crosses, too. I haven’t bought any of the SSDD crosses, just because I tested the Mendo Purps x SSDD a few years back and wasn’t impressed. The weed was good, but the yields were gawd-awful. Worst yields I’ve ever gotten.
