I personally rather regs… easier/cheaper to produce more seeds, and tends to have much better genetic diversity, better supporting the production of new strains or phenotypes.
If you don’t veg the seeds for too long they should fill the same space out once you sex them… some wasted material for nutes and an indistinguishable jump in your power + water bills vs growing fem seeds.
I liked the video, good mood overall (the three are totally unknown to me).
Considering the comments, i’m glad to be a part of a kind of poach of resistance lol
I like regs because I’m an old fart and like regs.
Also regs are better.
Fems just make more sense for 90% of homegrowers. I know a lot of “normies” that have a couple outdoor plants or a small tent they’ll germ 1-2 beans at a time in when they get low on bud. It really has exploded in popularity. Cheap LED and amazon grow equipment has really driven this as well, as well as the most obvious, legalization.
Not like there aren’t plenty of regs available.
Commercial tomato growers use commercial varieties. But the old heirlooms are all available for dirt cheap.
My limits only really allow for female seeds ATM but in the future when and if my counts go up or I just don’t renew my medical marijuana card I don’t see my numbers going up any.
First choice: regulars. Fems are a distant second.
Numbers schmbers
I like to make seed as much as much as I like to make bud
I brought some regular mangos last week. Regular beans generally have more vigour than fem and make much better mother plants imo. Im from a different generation of growers though who remember way before people were making and selling fems and autos.
Personally I’ve never ran regular seeds. The hassle of sorting out male and female was not something I ever really wanted to deal with. I’ve only grown fems or autos never regs although I do have a few packs I’ve been meaning to try. My determining factors behind only buying fems for the most part is that I don’t want to learn about breeding yet and it seems like an extra step that can be eliminated by just buying fem over reg seeds if your not using them for breeding
Regs regs everyday. If they take up a footprint it’s the price you pay.
I prefer regs for photoperiod plants and fems for autoflowering plants.
Fem only. I’ll make an exception for regs if it’s really unique.
Regs only… But wil make an exception for fems once in a while… Don’t prefer them
Right, @vernal I think most folks on this forum are not “typical” home growers. We (most of us, anyway) are more into experimentation, crossing, seed expansion, preservation, hunting, chucking, etc…
We are the fringe nerds. We are not your average seed consumer. So, regs are typically what we want.
But, I think most casual home growers are really turned off by the possibility of spending weeks or months growing a plant for personal use… only to discover it’s a boy and have to start over.
Right now, the fem are in the only box I have. And there is no way for additional
I have time for one grow. And the question is whether everything will go smoothly.
I need a short vege period and that’s why I packed feminized plants inside
We are the 1%
I like seeds
I like regular seeds the best. Don’t get me wrong I do like some good trusted feminize seeds. I don’t know why they would say that. I’ve heard that before and the reason they do that is it because they can sell less seeds for more money. 12 versus six.
