Regs don't sell?

That is the same reason that I do them for. And if I wanna make my own what’s wrong with that. They act like you’re gonna take their business away from them. And I’m not talking about these guys. But I know some from years ago, they are so eager and happy to rip you off. That’s why I like regular seeds.

I like them if I know what I’m getting. I don’t like picking through them sometimes. I always miss one or two. Not no big deal. But regular seeds are fun and they’re cheap.
Now I’m fixing to contradict myself. Feminine seeds have a purpose. Virgo said if you’re only gonna grow one or two plants, why would you mess with regular seeds? I spelled his name wrong. Vernal

Regular seeds contain the entire gene pool while as fems will have 50% missing.

Sometimes they just don’t do what they supposed to do. I don’t know I’ve had some throw out some balls. Which I’ve had regular seeds do that also. But sometimes it seems like the gens are a little bit better. I’m new to the seed thing anyway…
I could probably buy me a nice used car.
I got some sour sage coming. I’m so excited. Some sour apple. I do know how some of this stuff was created. I just didn’t do it all myself. Haaaa

There are reasons that have not been brought up yet.

One of them would be not wanting to contaminate your neighbors grows with your male pollen.

No, that’s always in my mind, and I can understand that being an issue. I have had it happen to me. Matter fact, my neighbor. Contaminated my growth four years ago.

You might be giving casual home growers too much credit with regard to knowing what they’re growing. A casual grower will initially buy whatever seeds from whatever seed bank Google shows them first. Beyond that, they’ll generally gravitate toward the flavor of the week which is more likely to be fem than reg due to the nature of who is making seeds for sale.

It is law here to put males inside immediately upon realization of sex or get rid of them.

I need to do a little bit more smoking, and not so much conversation. I grow both female and regular. The reason I do that is because I do know how many females I’m going to have. Regulars are just for fun and they are cheap. Some of them not all of them.

5-10 seems reasonable to me.

We sex our plants early on and, depending on my ambitions, will cull as needed. With a relatively large population of seed to choose from, I don’t have a problem with eliminating males or selecting out any overflow. Flexibility to leave the door open.

With that being said, we also have fems but mostly because they are only offered as fem in seed form. CSI for instance.

The ‘it’s what customers want’ is really only half the rationale.

Well said, brother.
Everyone without patented genetics would be screwed.

Corporate cannabis would love this…

I got some that’s supposed to be here tomorrow, so I’m sour sage and a mystery pack and I get a few free bee feminize seeds. ChiTown seeds I got to say they have been pretty good to me over the years.
@Northern_Loki I do the same. I have done it from seed before. Some from them being plants. I wouldn’t say from seed. I would say three weeks from seed I did the flip.

Sorry if that sounds confusing. This last round will cross your eyes. I got to say the ancient chocolate from Copa seeds will leave you in the middle of the road. The taste is so incredible. I’m not trying to get off topic. I’m sorry.
It’s probably some of the best weed I’ve ever smoked
I tell everybody I’m dyslexic. I am a little bit weed makes it worse.

I have actually seen where some companies are doing that they do not offer regular seeds anymore. Do you know how to change that? I think I’ve seen you do it with that reverse spray.

We send samples out for sexing at probably around two-three weeks into veg. Well before the flip. At ~$10 per sample, cost is minimal.

I have seen your topic and I’m very impressed with that and I’m also very curious about doing that myself. I appreciate the stuff that you do. There are several growers here that are mad scientist. I’m just a professor.
I think the $10 is cheaper. I got dirt in containers out there right now. I got to go bust the roots out of. But you know something that is what I put at the bottom of my containers is old roots. I have quite a few right now that I thought would be showing female signs because they are late and they are males. I also hate it when you think is a female and you go ahead and put it in a bigger container ready to finish it, and it turns out to be a male. That does cost money. It is a waste of money. And it is something that I am trying to eliminate. Spending money.
I know one thing I got some stinky feet going on. lol I love growing a variety. The smells of rotting fruit.

It’s more or less mainstream these days. If you really want to go madscientist, then it’s buy a PCR machine and do the genetic testing right at home (and you can test for other things). But, the cost is low enough and the number of samples is small, it’s easier to have the testing lab do it. Farmer Freeman, in DC, is who we use.

You know me. It is mainstream. Sometimes it takes me a minute. lol
I seen one topic here with somebody was trying to make a kit. I’m not sure I can’t remember. That’s not bad money for $10. Dirt isn’t cheap. Water isn’t cheap. Peace.
I got things I got to go do myself.
