Yeah, have the front frame stiffeners, motor mounts, and a roll cage to put in my Jeep. Doing rear coil over springs on my buddy’s TJ too. That’s the plan for 2022.
Last winter I put new coils, shocks, sway bar links & bushings for the front and back on my 1999 TJ.
Got to love them Jeeps…
Maybe it was taken on a mud run so they plugged it off to stop potential water issues. I’d check the rear breather aswell just to be safe
I’ve been alright, takin a breather in the background getting shit done that I’ve been putting off… Should be throwing my heep on the road soon. I’m getting desperate for some Mountain time, a low ass civic just isn’t fun.
I’ll have to come out and put a Jeep on the road.
Go give them a wiggle!
fo’ sho…ain’ good when the front one drops and digs in.
@cannabissequoia 80-100 you say. In a Jeep? Not a CJ at least I hope?
nahhh… no Jeep, not even an FJ Toyota. It’s an 09 RAV4 v6, my little Mercedes ML wannabe/killer.
Hawaii has 35mph highways & people have a tendency to drive 5-15mph under (the only place I’ve ever seen “Minimum Speed Limit” signs ) and so I have to pass 4-5 cars on an island that doesn’t have a lot of long straightaways. And then there’s the lunacy factor… I passed an oversized load with front & rear escort vehicles but the front truck decided to floor it. By the time I looked down after re-entering the right lane it was at 120 … & I wondered WTF?!
Yeah.
uhhh…'loha?
new here and it’s pretty cool there is a jeep thread going.
I owned a 92 YJ renegade 4.0 5speed that I drove for a couple years and then tore it down to the chassis and did a big restoration and frame stiffening, 3"body lift and 4" suspension lift. Ran it with only synthetic oil and sold it for 3800 after putting a new clutch at 411,000 km. Still ran strong for a couple more years and then the kid that bought it did a drivetrain rebuild from engine to diffs.
These days I drive a 1989 XJ Pioneer with a 4 inch lift… Bought it a couple or so years ago with some issues but unibody was good and I’m a handy guy. Did the rear main seal, oil pump, felpro gaskets on the pan and valve covers, penzoil synthetic oil /filter change every 5000km. It’s got 326,000 km but the engine has great compression and power, no ticks like my YJ had. Since the engine work I’ve put over 4000Km on her driving all across BC on hunting trips this fall and on one trip had to 4x4 out of Smither’s Landing to the Nekitwa main haul road in a foot and a half of fresh snow… the heavy kind. The old girl rear end hopped her whole way up the switch backs in 4 low but she got me out of there. I was pretty worried but I made it out. I’ll have to say the BFG all terrain KTO2 tires really impressed me this season in the various terrain and conditions I travelled in. From the mountains of Pemberton tp Babine Lake and everything in between. This XJ might be 32 years old boing on 33… but she sure is growing on me.
I was a steel fabricator by trade when I was able to be a working man, so I am going to fab up a bumper or 2 , a roof rack and gonna look at a different lift altogether as I am not fond of axle hopping and it’s because it is a lift that uses a 4" block of steel between axle and leaf spring. The flex or axle wrap is causing that hopping up the steep hills in the snow.
anyhow… I have to go find the thread on how to post pics on this site but cool to see there are fellow jeep nuts in this board.
4x4s go hand-in-hand with “remote garden projects” but I’m guessing most here just like them. I’m mostly confused by them.
…howabout something absurdly overpowered for a new engine?
Gotta do wheelies to get to work, right?
I’m waiting for the 4 cylinder to go. Then I’m installing an inline 6. Not bending my frame with a 350 lol
I picked up a Smittybuilt 10000 pound winch off a buddy. Will be installing that soonish…
I’ve got a smittybilt winch. My brother does also, they are great! Mines mounted on my bumper, my bro has it on a hitch that’s slides in the front and back of his truck. Pretty neat. 10000? Nice. I bet you got a good deal too from a friend! I’m currently doing some wiring and fixing lights in the jip, then I have to get a spot welded on a bracket that broke above the skid plate and on the exhaust holding it up… hard to explain. Needs to be done.
V 8 is alot of work. Get you one of those old bluebird school bus motors with the mechanical diesel motor in it. Strap that Jeep to it and put some big old tractor tires on the back. You won’t need four-wheel-drive. Just a recliner. Lol. V8 is a little tight to put in.
Every 4x4 is good as fuck , run on sand rivers and a lot of things.
Good lucky with your rebuild
Haha, you got me on that one. I was thinking, hmm I’ve never replaced my cabin air filter. Of course dust blows out my vents when I turn the air on.
Lol I almost got myself aswell… and I’ve had the dash torn apart and no full well there isn’t haha.
Buddy of mine dropped off his jeep at the shop the other day running rough. Replaced the o2 sensor, but when I messaged him I told him he broke a piston return spring and it was basically catastrophic. He never replied.
I guess him and a buddy spent a couple hours trying to find cherokee piston return springs… and finally landed on a video about how to replace them… it ended the same way as the air filter video. Haha
You’re an ass
