I still have a few of the ones you sent. I lost a few but then I mixed the seeds some how. So I know they are all auto but donāt know which is which. Iāll get them down soon. Maybe the next full moon. Thanks again for your kindness. Looking forward to many more adventures!!!

I had a similar disaster with my last batch of precious @ReikoX beans. It was crushed by postal service and the ones that remained whole were mixed up. Itās been fun to grow them and see what youāve got.
However, neither @ReikoX or I know what the hell this isā¦

I dont know if youāve covered this as Iām just skimming everything getting ideas. But is there any need/way to use the punnet square for other characteristics like flavor, production, size? Or are those all dealt with by pheno hunting and going forward with the traits you like?
Iām just thinking for choosing your initial breeding strains

punnet squares really work best with traits that only have 2 alleles/possibilities : i.e. Autoflowering, or not - but for traits that could have 3 or 4 or even more possible expressions punnett squares get pretty complicated pretty quickly. also some traits can be affected by more than 1 gene

So in simple terms, use plants that appear to be what Iām looking for a cross my fingers for good results!
Next questionā¦ most chances are I will be using fem pollen throughout (good or bad I donāt care) would there be any reason to use photo pollen to auto. And auto pollen to photo. (Using the same two plants for both directions) then using both plants seeds to move to the next generation? Or would the genetic make up be the same because they are the same plants

they will vary in expression in how each side contributes, and auto/photo away its just doing so you will loose the auto trait unless you hunt for it exclusively in f2, also not saying this is true but only my observation up to this point but the femed pollen donor seems to show a little more bias at least when inward breeding after f1 than say the mother but again just a light observation that may be bogus.

So if I had a plant with the traits I desire you recommend using that one to supply the pollen? Iāve got a lot of learning to do

i do or at least either obviously, but yeah go forward with the traits you like best.
Also the learning aspect sure you can read up on it and it will help but best method is just by doing.
One book i enjoyed thats now 20 years old is the following, not cannabis related but i enjoyed the read alot more than say greg greens or robert clake book on actual cannabis breeding

only if you make it but id say no cause it can be as simple as making some seeds by crossing the plants you like, really all it is in the endā¦
Only is complicated if you make it or are hunting or trying to achieve something.

@Grease_Monkey yeah exactly, like myself currently just to be more concise with my own goals after a talk with the lady about it, is say my next goal in the next 2 months is to just increase resin content in my DarkSparks, whether introducing external genetics like reikos GT2xSBR that i enjoyed the resin production from, or internally selecting for those higher yielders, obviously with stability and other flavor/scent factors in mind.
And after that is to lock down the green pheno of them as there is some fun in those and why 22 seeds got planted yesterdayā¦
@Foreigner you go after whatever interests you as everyoneās tastes are different, and a few of us kicking around probably have seeds to share if just wanting to play, but current times and all holding off shipping and or receiving stuff may be a wise choice

So say I created my auto strain. Got lucky and it had all the qualities I wanted (or I go ocd and do multiple generations to attain that). Would selfing then be the best way to reproduce, or once again breeding 2 similar plants into I guess another F1 (or would that be F # whatever generation Iām upto)

l was interested mostly in fems but regulars would be fine too, even maybe make some seed. Oh and thc, not cbd. Is there something you could recommend?

well say you get lucky on that first gen, lets just hope you have enough seeds, but after that you could self and or cross plants, but that next gen at least when using two plants your gonna see a wider range of characteristics in that f2 gen and say maybe 50% of those offspring will be like the plants you used where as the other 50% will show differntly, but then you select from those and can work towards locking in the traits.
But selfing yeah that will get you very close to the original plant, not the exact same just cause it will still express a little different in the offspring but it gets you there, just can allow any mutant liek traits to maybe manafest a little easier, but thats a whole other topic.
