Seedling Problems

Whatever that means

his is my set up. I realise my pots are probably far to big for the size of the seedlings, but I read somewhere that the best way to germinate was in the media and pots that the plants would grow in, as they can be easy damage when transplanting. As you can see I’ve proped both seedlings up with toothpicks and put more soil around the base to hold them up. The Aurora has straightened up now but I’m still totally confused about how to water them. Not a great picture, as I can only upload one picture because I’m a new user

That light should be alright for seedlings. I’m guessing it’d be equal to about 100-120W of LM301H. How far are your lights? At 3 weeks ish you should be at your 3rd-4th set of true leaves. 18C-25C should be fine as well and those pots look fine. What’s the relative humidity like/what is the age of the seed?

The problem with big pots is you tend to water according to the size of the pot, not the seedling, water remains longer, roots get dump without oxygen and water takes longer to evaporate …

A good trick is to fill the starter pot just to the middle or so, If your seedling goes lanky you can add more soil and the covered stem will throw roots … beer3|nullxnull

I mean, seriously, isn’t OCD a requirement for growing good weed?

I made the mistake of having too much light when switching to LED’s, I did indoor for years with HID’s, I wasn’t aware that was possible until it was a problem. The problem lies in heat, I had to keep the HID far away, LED’s can be pretty damn close and these new Samsung horticulture LEDs are insane. Just lay off the water and you should be fine.

That is an important question. The answer is yes.

 you might as well be talking double dutch buddy, I have absolutely no idea about humidity levels or seed ages, I’ve only been doing this for 3 weeks. Mostly because the quality of the cannabis in Ireland is that bad I thought I would be as well growing it myself. That, and I have bad anxiety and I thought if I grow it myself then at least I know where it came from

I’m using Cre, it’s fertilised soil with perlite and kelp. I’ve got an organic liquid seaweed extract for nutrition, but I haven’t started using it yet. Any advice on where to go from here would be much appreciated.

they are looking alot healthier today

I don’t do organics so can’t really advise
But I recon you will need other inputs on top of the seaweed nutes etc due to lack of adequate levels of certain elements

All I can advise is watch them bottom first tiny petal shaped leafs , when they yellow it’s time to start feeding

It would be great if you take them out with natural light while taking pics … beer3|nullxnull

If you are not certain of watering, you can let them dry out for a bit until they start to droop. This will give you a baseline timing for watering , if they droop after 5 days you should water about day 4. Also if unsure of the amount, you can water well Only one Half of the pot well. Next watering do the other half. They need way less water than you think.

Thank you. They are definitely showing improvement since I added more soil around the base of the stems to dry them out a bit

I do this sometimes if they’ve stretched a bit, bury her back up to her neck.

The three seedlings on the left are also 3 weeks old, there’s a 200w led just above the big plant in the middle so they’re a fair way away from that light. They’re not stretching so they don’t seem to need much light at this size, they’re just putting out roots. I also need to learn to stop fussing over them with daily waterings.
