These next four are Autos correct? 5=1=1 Alaska fish emulsion. Good stuff! So is that Neptune from what I read. I think you’ll probably get away with just those two supplemental fertilizers. If you can swing some high phosphorus batshit it really helps the flowers. So this style that you are starting next is called soup style Organics. Most of the food you give your plants, is in the form of a soup so to speak, AKA liquids. I’m sure there are others on this site that are much better at timing with when to apply these and how often. I usually count more on the base mix that I’ve done before the plant goes in the soil, and any liquids are bubbled first with a fish bubbler, castings or compost and molasses. Even the timing with this stuff is not done by any schedule. I just kind of feel the plants needs .There are definitely people better qualified with this style that I’m hoping will chime in, but as long as you stick with a light fertilizer regiment, I don’t see any problems arising, it’s just others could probably get you more yield. I would say every third watering or so would be ok. Just watch for burnt leaf tips, and wait for that first set of leaves before you give them anything. Use the cal mag with every watering at 10=20 drops/ gallon. I think 20 drops ended up being pretty close filling the cap of the Cal Mag bottle. But don’t quote me on that. ******* I just remembered…!!! One brand of cal mag is made by Monsanto( general organics maybe). IT’S BAD NEWS FOR ORGANICS! It contains magnesium EDTA if I remember right. Made my organic grow shit the bed yrs ago. I’ll know it if I see it
Okay, the neptune you bought and the 5-1-1 are both veg nutes… The Alaska Morbloom is 0-10-10 for flower.
Use one or the other of the veg nutes. Every 3rd watering, Start at 1/2 strength then increase to full after a week. Do this until 2nd week of flower. Then switch to the 0-10-10 full strength. This will get you through this grow.
Before next grow decide what method you want to use… There are much better organic nutrients in the world, but most are more complicated than just using a bottle. For true organic gardening, you’ll need to start studying.
Out of curiosity, have you read through the Grow Faqs on this site? Please do as there is a world of info to be had in there.
Yes the last four are Autos. The cal-mag I have left doesn’t say what’s in it, I will email them and ask if mag EDTA is in it. I’ll prob stick with the two Fish nutes for the last four. Once setup in the tent I’ll make a desision on what to do.
Meesh, I’ve read some of the FAQ’s, but will take a look again. Been reading constantaly for almost a year now just on canna from books, forums and internet searches…Plus a crap load of YouTube vids.
Lol, one thing that a book can’t teach, real world experiences and how to handle them. Not until they happened to you, is when you realize how little (in my case) you really know.
But I’m not unhappy or bored with the Grow, it’s been a great learning exercise. And without y’all’s (is that even a word?) input and help it would have been a very rough time for sure!
About to transplant one to a 1 gal pot and the last three to the nursery bags. I’m hoping they will be happy in those bags till there is more room. If so they will go into fabric Pots in a few weeks.
They are all showing pre-flowers so I’ll start the Neptune today.
Meesh seems to know more than me about this style of gardening. Thankyou@ Meesh! The only thing I want to add ( and I’m sure you know@nova )is three teaspoons equal a tablespoon. So start at 1 1/2 teaspoons. it’s true that reading can only get you so far. I read several books on true living organics before giving it a go, and still managed to mess up until my third yr trying it this way. The best way to learn is by doing! ( no ingredients on cal mag bottle? Magnesium EDTA should be listed as the source of magnesium if it is that type… Don’t buy any products that don’t list the ingredients. That’s shady.
Just got finished transplanting the four seedlings and gave the others Fish nutes. Those white nursery bags work pretty good, so far.
When transplanting the Jiffy cubes I tried to remove some of the netting around it.
But the roots had already grown through most so I just cut some of netting off and tried not to bother the roots.
Here are a few pics of the make-shift garden, lol. Check the last pic, it’s the little Berry Ryder that I dropped a few weeks ago.
I think it’s one of the smallest plants I’ve seen! It didn’t like being dropped on its head, sort of freaked out and just stopped growing. It may give ya a bowl, but that’s about it…
The one just to the right is the sister and she is doing well. Both are at the back on the left side.
How’s the plants? The last pics they looked MUCH better. Unrecognizable. That really tiny one is pretty funny! may be the only opportunity you ever get to smoke a whole plant in one hit!!
I had some home made autos ( way back) that had some plants that small by the third generation. They lost vigor very rapidly with each generation. It could be the seed stock you used.
Hey, they are doing well if I would stop knocking them over, just not enough space in that wardrobe. I was hoping that a few would finish up in time to transplant the nursery bags into pots. But ATM the little Berry Ryder is the only one that will be ready soon.
It’s around a 60-65 day strain and it’s about 7 weeks in or 48 days. I took pics of the terps and they are still forming.
The white nursery bag is Sour Tangie and it is growing really well! They seem to like the Happy Frogs much more and you could see the growth rate increase from day one.
I also added two 150watt CFL’s along with running the main Grow light for about 8 hrs a day should help a little.
The pic with the pink label is the other Berry Ryder and it’s about nine inches tall and doing well.
And the other one is Shunk Haze, at about the same height. Finally the last pic is the little Berry Ryder, lol. It’s a bad pic but it’s pretty frosty and that one little flower is filling out, so maybe two bowls.
Just noticed some discoloration on the fan leaves. This strain has grown very well for the environment that it is in and hasn’t shown any issues since planting.
This strain has darker color leaves, so it’s not a sudden N overload and it hasn’t been given enough N to burn it either.
It’s just worrying me cuz I really want to try this strain and this has been the most stable genetics. I don’t see it widespread only on the fan leaves on each side of the plant.
Any ideas? Thx!
@Meesh @Upstate Here are a few pics.
Have you been using that Cal Mag? It looks like it could be Calcium deficiency. And if you see how the lowest leaves are curling down as well, that could be magnesium deficiency starting. It’s an immobile nutrient, because it’s only on the bottom leaves. GOD it reminds me a little bit of what happened when I had russet mites. But we won’t go there yet LOL. Up your cal-mag to 20 drops per gallon if you haven’t already, or you could buy some Epsom salts and foliar feed the undersides of the leaves just before lights out. If you have the lights on 24 hours a day you could still shut them off 4 hours without bothering anything
Thx @Upstate I almost gave them some last night as it’s been a while since they had any cal-mag. I’ll try it out and see, tomorrow I guess depends on how wet it is later.
I really want this one to finish nicely for what it is. Like I said in the previous post; This is the best looking and is in the best shape out of all of them…
Doesn’t suffer from heat stress, which has been a slight issue with others. And has been a deep solid green the whole time. I did check on it and it’s normal. Thx for confirming the issue!
Just a FYI, all they have had is Grow, Fish/Harvest and Base on occasion.
Lmao, I gave that little BR, some “Shock and Awe” for the buds! It’s doing ok after dropping it on its head and breaking the main flower. But that was weeks ago…Still didn’t help her.
I would say calcium and magnesium then, if they haven’t gotten any. Give it to them every watering. Yr adding so little you really should do it every watering. There is also (unlisted) a small amount of nitrogen in there. This is important for the microlife to stay happy. If they dont have it added, they will take what they need from the plants., and you will eventually have issues with leaves starting to yellow and drop off. Plants look nice and happy. What a difference!
It very well could be the genetics, they were inexpensive so can’t complain. Got them about 4 months ago and they were a BX6 and now they are sold as a BX8.?. Not sure what they changed or maybe they needed more seeds, I dunno.
The one right next to the dwarf is the same strain and it’s 8 inches tall, as of a few days ago.
The Dark one I just posted is Ice Cool from Sweet Seeds. It’s a Diesel cross, can’t remember with what off the top. You can smell the Diesel with a little stem rubbish.
I concur with slight cal mag deficiency. Funny, diesels always smell like cat piss to me.
You could always get a free sample of Megacrop. You can check out their thread under sponsors. You can use it the whole way through from veg to flower until you understand nutes better.
Yikes! I am a first time grower and the nutrients I have contain EDTA (Chelating Agent)! It is very low amount though .4% Also it is listed seperately not on the line with the Mag or Cal, Does that make a difference? I am only using it at half strength as many people have suggested so more like .2% on the EDTA. Thanks for any help.
I’ll have to look up why it’s so bad, but it ruined a grow I had yrs ago. It shocked my plants to the pt that they got fusarium wilt or verticilian wilt, I don’t remember which. Maybe if you start the grow with it it wouldn’t matter as much. But if you strive for organic don’t use it. Going from memory here, but basically EDTA is salt. Salt and microlife dont mix. Imagine throwing one of your pond fish into the ocean all of a sudden. Your micro life is living in an ocean, it just has less water to Earth ratio. Since soil microlife are land-based, they don’t like saltwater. This only matters if you are organic. Chemical nutes bypass the relationship between roots and microbes, and get immediately absorbed into the plant. Here EDTA wouldn’t matter. Don’t quote me on the salt thing. Going from memory ten yrs ago. But you can quote me on don’t use it in organic.
Thanks for the quick response. I will try to find another brand for my next grow. I would like to stay organic so I guess I messed this one up. In my area they don’t have the Alaska brand that I see some people recommend on here. I did get the promix for vegetable which seems good so far. Learning a lot from everyone on here. Glad I found the site!
I ordered a sample of Megacrop, it wasn’t free but 75% off so that’s not bad. I also was looking at Geo (forgot the name), it’s Geo something and it’s a two part powered mix.
Couldn’t find a sample for them so I just went with Megacrop.
These nutes I have now are a pain in the arse. You have to weigh out grams and my scales have a hard time with that low of a weight. And there is several differ ones that you must use.
So yeah just been guessing for the most part…
They may have some white powered spores, I can’t tell. I took a macro shot and a dead leave had it. But haven’t seen to much of it really.
Is Greensand worth messing with? Maybe a top dressing?
Other than that they are doing well, the little Berry Ryder is still pushing flowers out, lmao. It’s so tiny, I swear it will be gone in a bowl or two! The sister is about a foot tall, with many flowers. I burnt some of the leaves and I was surprised on how many ppl said to NOT remove them. I cut the dead part off and pull all dead leaves.
After seeing that mold I don’t FK around with them. I don’t need bugs and or mold on top of everything else.
Hopefully this will be over with soon…Growing in that wardrobe is a pain!
Neptune harvest makes good stuff too. With all ferts look for the words natural AND organic or the OMRI label. Lots of legal ways to false advertise. For instance… derived from natural ingredients is a favorite. There may be some natural ingredients in there… But not all of them. Organic fert #s on the label should never be super high on yr liquid ferty containers. You won’t find #s like 0 =60=0 for example. The one I use in a tea is big bloom by fox farm. All three numbers are well Below 1 , like .04 or similar, For cal mag I use fox farms gringo rasta or (something close to that name.)good luck.
