Well, I fucked up… again!

Using string for LST is usually discouraged because it can injure the stalk. Typically, I’m ontop of checking my tie down points to avoid any problems, but now that I’m working with a lot more than 3 plants; it got past me.

Several plants outgrew their string and began getting cut by it.

A few plants were affected, but none more than Valentina, who had to get topped due to the cut seperating the main cola.

I cut all the ties off the affected plants and am going to let them recover a bit. I haven’t seen a plant repair the indents created by string before, so I’ll have to be real careful with those branches from here on out. I’m really living up to my topic title lol.

Here’s what we’re working with genetics wise:

There were actually 11 Cherry West Bc seeds, but two were accidentally cracked while sorting and counting. I was closing the container and heard a loud crunch. :man_facepalming:t3:I threw them in some RO water to see if they germinate.

You could use paper tape and mend those branches. Helps them heal faster.:v:t4:

Word, I’ll throw some on tomorrow morning to add some support to em’. Thanks for the suggestion bro!

Males have been killed. I took cuts of Malagueña, Kika, and Chuletica in an effort to flower them out in the future. The plants will be transplanted into their forever homes tomorrow morning.

I’ve switched nutrients as well. For the remainder of their veg, these girls will be fed Drip Hydro, eventually switching back to Advanced Nutrients for bloom so I can kill the remainder of their nutes.

I kept getting this weird slime when mixing AN’s bloom formula.

So I decided to look at all my bottles. I found this weird rubbery sludge in my pretty much new “Bud Ignitor” bottle ($98) last week while mixing a bloom feed for the 2x2.

I decided to strain the bottle and found all this shit inside.

After emailing them, I was told the bottle was expired and needed to be thrown out. Basically shit out of luck on that $100 spent since it’s been longer than 6 months since I purchased. This isn’t the main reason I decided to switch, but it definitely is one. I have now gone from General Hydroponics, to Advanced Nutrients, to Drip Hydro. Hopefully I won’t be switching after this.

Moving on, I’ve got 5 PUCK males, 3 females, and 2 non-conformists (not showing sex yet).

These plants better not outgrow their 2x2 area… or else.

I’m attempting to go back to not using rope for my LST. There’s something about rope though… something… erotic?

Hey Senor Christmas,
every tried this stuff for your bondage girls?

I used it for our tomatoes one year, then gave a length to a friend that ties their girls, and they love it.
Love your work!!

That’s all I use, 2 years ago I found rolls at the dollar store (dollarama) 1.25$ I proceeded to buy out 3 of the 5 dollaramas in Niagara Falls stock. Ended up with 2&1/4 BOXES full . 128 rolls…. I’ve gone through a bunch but that stash still looks the same as when I brought it home lol. Love that stuff. They also have thick and thin versions (thick is super soft/forgiving) I’ll never grow without it again, I use it to tie my colas to the stakes when they start flopping as well. (I was at dollarama last night, they have LOTS again )

@Mr.Christmas ive found issues with AN as well, several times. I switched from ignitor back to Bud Blood (my go to for 9 years outdoor) for that reason, found my connoisseur A with mold in the bottle, Nirvana 4L went skunky TWICE, and my b-52 went chunky once, and the NEW voodoo juice literally would separate. (After 3 replacements I moved on and went with my RDWC nutes for my soilless grows as well. Haven’t switched back although I do still use rhino skin , b-52 once in a while and overdrive faithfully. But tbh I hate giving them any money anymore. I’m actually getting rid of the last of my bottles of nirvana , and coco Veg a &b before they are useless

Thank you hermano, it was tactically acquired from a water testing lab by a friend. That magnetic stirrer saves a lot of time when mixing so many bottles of nutes together.

I think I’m going to start up a vegetable garden and feed it whatever AN I end up left with.

Hey brotha, I sure have. Here’s my LST bondage stash:

Nothing like good ol twine though. I’m done using it though. Although this is only the second grow where my plants end up getting cut by the rope, I want to avoid it happening again.

And thank you dude, I feel like I don’t know what I’m doing 86.3% of the time, but we’re doing it!

Hellllll yeah, now that’s amazing savings. That’s cheaper than the twine I use. Another reason to stop using twine is that it’s not really reusable so I’m just throwing rolls away. Gotta start saving money where I can, shits getting tougher and tougher economically out in California.

I don’t mind dishing out the money for AN, but at least give me a product worth the tag. The bottles leak, the anti-spill pucks they put on the caps end up disintegrating and getting in the liquid, and they leak like crazy out the tops whenever I shake them up to use.

I bought 250 mL bottles of Sensizym and B-52 to finish the rest of my bloom nutes, but I wasn’t real happy dishing them out more money. Although, I also bought a 1L of Bud Candy to feed the microbes from the King Crab. Heard a lot of people use just their Bud Candy. What are you running now?

I’ve been looking at switching nutes for about half a year now, jumping back and forth to doing it, but Jacks was top 3 for switching to. They’re real cheap, hoards of people use em, and they provide great results. The reason I went with drip is that I have a growmie who uses it as well. If I’m displeased with Drip, I shall switch again! Crazy how concentrated their NPK values are for their price point. Thanks for the recommendation!

I’m actually running the last of my random mixed stuff using up what I have , then I’m going to try Athena blended as they graciously sent me some big bottles, I do STILL want to run Jacks as well like @Papalag suggested, I know a lot of people who swear by it actually

I’m sorry to hear that you crushed 2 of the (Cherry West Bc) F2s, but hopefully they just germinate for you. I’m stoked to see what you find in those Chem^3. Positive vibes…

Word, hopefully the transition goes well. I was either going to go with Athena or Advanced Nutrients, but the hydroponics store sold me on AN.

Fuck man, I’m sorry. They didn’t make it. It heart wrenching to hear that crack. My seed collection might be getting too big for the little container I’ve got.

No apology necessary brother. I’m sorry that happened.

I never make any promises that I am not 100% sure that I can keep, but remind me if you end up scooping anything else and I will send 2 more seeds of the (Cherry West Bc) F2 with your order. I am just about to harvest a fresh seed stock of them.

What is your long-term storage method? Positive vibes…
