Snagged this book on pdfdrive
Looks great @SensiBowl all caught up for now.
Cheers @Emeraldgreen, thanks for swinging by!
So many places to swing by. I’m often late! Your canopy management amazes me
It’s definitely hard to keep on top of all the threads!
Thanks, the wires and clips can get a bit crazy after a while but i like being able to move the pots and not being stuck on a lst net
My answer was more plants and stakes. I can’t stand nets
Lol that works too!
Hammer and chisel Pete.
I’ve ordered worms through Peacefull Valley and Uncle Jim’s and never had a problem with dead worms. They come shipped in a dry peat moss and orders are done quickly to ensure a healthy delivery. They lose a lot of their body mass drying out on the journey, but show up fine.
Red Wigglers are composting worms and do most of their work on the top couple inches. Earthworms like you normally find in your yard travel up and down in the soil aerating as they go. It’s good to have a combination in your soil, but for composting, Red Wigglers are king.
That book you got is a great introduction. The RIU thread is the rabbit hole though. KIS has an interview series on organics, they are all great! Coots has one where he discusses vermicomposting in depth.
I don’t think OG has a dedicated worm thread or at least one where people are active. Maybe it’s time…
That thread is great on RIU,slowly getting through it. Found the book recommendation on there too.
I checked yesterday for a vermi thread here but it’s been dead since May last year, might need a kickstart!
I like a bit of shrimp or crab meal. It provides a slow release of calcium and is a good source of chitanase.
I used to love that Worms Armageddon game. I even made custom sound packs using sound bites from Austin Powers.
Awesome thanks, I’ll add it to the list!
lol that’s awesome, what a great mashup! I was obsessed with that game back in the day
The shrimp and crab meal are a little harder to pin down, but they probably have some at the local stores. Oyster shell flower and Black soldier fly frass are easy to get though
Worm home prepped! Still need to add some grit and compostables but the base layer is sorted with some shredded cardboard and coco coir that was sitting around
Added some of the recommendations to the list and placed an order, spent forever deciding whether or not to grab the pumice but said screw it and pulled the trigger.
Thanks for the input @CanuckistanPete, @CrunchBerries and @ReikoX ! Looks like I’m trying this!
Group shot!
Spent some time today taking each plant out and giving it a good once over for pm. Removed anything that looked like it would be an issue and dabbed any remaining spots with apple cider vinegar/water solution on a qtip.
Raised the light a tiny bit too, you can see the qb shaped rectangle fading the leaves in the center
