Silver Thiosulfate - Making feminized seeds

First time out with the DIY STS. Looks like the transition is finally taking.

2-applications - 7-days apart

For reference, below is the sister clone to our reversed STS target

Looks VERY good. Isn’t it amazing to watch that transition?
The Widow Maker that I did…I saved some pollen, but it also self pollinated, and I got about 200 seeds from her.

It sure is.

I worry every time but it seems like it just takes a little while for the suppression to kick in.

Patience pays off. In the end I hope to have {G13Haze x Colin OG} x Next Level

The single bladed leaves are from the switch from flowering schedule you had them on to the 24 hours of light. It was re-vegging and when it happens you get smooth single bladed leaves and crazy looking leaf mutants as it tries to go from flower back to veg. It has something to do with the flowering hormones being built up in the plant and when you switch back to veg hours it takes a bit for them to disapate.
You see it a lot every spring as new outdoor growers put their plants out before there’s enough sunlight to keep them in veg and they start to flower, then once there’s around 14.5 hours or so of sunlight weeks later the plant has to reveg and it really looks crazy with pistils and 1 bladed leaves coming out of the forming buds. Sorry you had to deal with it.

This seems like a pretty good reference for the process of making STS with common sources of both sodium thiosulfate and silver nitrate called out. -Also confirms the practice that one should never use metal objects or tools when working with STS.

On that note I also understand one should also be very deliberate when disposing of STS, ensuring proper dilution and protection of local water systems. Evidently your pipes and the environment will thank you.

This makes perfect sense, and I suspected it was this.
When I saw the plants when I came back, I knew that part of my project was pretty much done. I’m keeping them going now just out of curiosity.

Thanks,

I think there’s some success with this particular reversal. Baby daddy on deck. Get ready for the pitter patter of little seeds…….hitting the deck….

Excellent synopsis of procedure and schedule…thanks!

I don’t know if I’m going to reverse anything over the winter. Probably not, but will be popping come Jan 1st, so hoping to get a lot of experiments in.

I do have some Gambien Photo X Widow Maker Auto from last season that I may grow out over the winter. Should give me a “FAST” plant. At least, that was the plan.

Is there any benefit or negative effect to spraying more often?

Honestly, I’m probably just impatient.

I don’t have any reason to believe a single application isn’t good enough, but I get nervous as all the pistils keep popping with no sign of “balls.”

I end up hitting it again 5-7 days later. It always works.

who was @Irishrocker , does he have a grow log

@Irishrocker left OG about a year ago unfortunately I think, cant remember an actual grow log though.

How localized is STS? I have removed my plants and prayed them then quarantined them for 12 hours after spraying. After that I put them back into a tent with flowering autos and mother plants.

Did I mess up and potentially affect other nearby plants?

Your good. I usually spray them and throw them right back in the tent, not touching other plants.

I do the same as @Slammedsonoma420
I like to make sure they’re dry, or go back in the dark.
