Some Stuff About Stuff

i had those pots but 1gals, kangaroo something right? water would piss off the sides, pissing me off, i ended up taping panda film around 'em haha, not a fan of fabric pots (i’m growing in fabric pots)

@supershitfuck Possibly yeah

I remember them being pretty damn thin

Which wasn’t the worst thing transplanting with them they stretched easier

Media is a big factor in that too

I use SS4 and it can get pretty bad as it’s rather hydrophobic when dry

i used roots organics, seems like it’s all coco and perlite, in those very pots, that combo was hydrophobic, awesome results tho… i use buildasoil soil now, will reuse it forever, i don’t have a way to go to the grow store and haul bags of soil in and out my spot but yeah i have 65gal fabric pots with a “sand filter” at the bottom

Nice I’m considering running phillthys mix

It’s a one and done organic soil tho

As I want to keep running sours but I also wanna run cookies, OG’s and kush etc

and there’s no way for them both to do well on the same regimen.

So I’ll feed Sours and run organic soil with the rest

havn’t hear of that one, bagged soil?

you’ll love your og’s and cookies in organics i’m sure, sour too i’d imagine everything would be better in organic soil, like vegetables!

He’s pretty infamous on IC mag

just a one and done type soil thing

sour is such a hard plant to grow and likes such heavy feeds I wouldn’t even want to try

Plus as it’s a one and done I don’t wanna run 10-11 weekers in it

I have literally no clue what I’m running next lol

whoever sends me whatever first cuz all my moms are small as hell

I want to try this OG out called yesca… I guess people are dropping various PK cuts for it which is saying something
I know meangene uses it in shit but that’s about the extent of what I know about that OG
there’s only a handful of OG cuts I haven’t ran and I should be getting those in hand shortly which is fun.

probably some mix of like
Mendo crumble
Biscotti
original diesel
Yesca (hopefully)

so I have a question tho @supershitfuck or anyone who grows organic soil

so what information can I take about what I know certain types of plants want in feed and apply it to amendments.

more nitrogen, more mag, heavier feeder etc

this is why I never got into soil as there’s just not enough control and it annoys me lol
I’ve put in work to dial regimens for the plants I love to grow and this shit is just starting from scratch

Here’s the general jist of the inputs
Alfalfa

Dry molasses

Kelp meal

Blood meal

Bone meal

Bird Guano

Sul-PO-mag

Azomite

Dolomite

Gypsum

Oyster

There’s this, and it has different recipes depending on what you want to do if you already have those amendments.

Or go to BuildASoil and copy the Nutrient kit if you already have the ingredients, or you can buy them in their pre-made kit. Or KISS organics has pretty much the same thing.

Or just go check out @AzSeaindooin420 he uses Dr Earth and its just topdress and go. They have a feeding schedule for cannabis somewhere, I saw it in that Best Fertilizer thread.

If you know something is a heavy feeder, you just topdress or feed in a tea that nutrient a little ahead of time, but really most organic grows are in larger pots minimum 7gallons for water only soil for the most part so that they don’t ever run out of nutes, and the plant tales what it wants more than you feeding direct.

You don’t feed direct in organics, though, even with the topdressing and teas. Korean Natural Farming kind of feeds direct but that’s a whole other ball game to get into

I already know how much of everything I will be using

I have homies who SHRED with this mix

I’m more just curious as to what I could add more of for different varieties that are rather needy in various ways

I will check the thread out tho thank you

I’ve talked with the guys at BAS a lot over the years they’re good dudes I just don’t want to ever use the soil for more then one run haha

I’ll have a fire garden out back tho
Allllll the tomatoes

the simple reasoning is you grow your plant in fully fertilized soil, the plant will eat what it needs as it grows, just like it would in the woods

this is the feeding schedule, i very roughly follow the “basic feeding schedule” top dress, in some FFOF or roots organics original in 3 gals. that’s the basic cheap available way to go, you’ll get some amazing tasting weed

if you get a cut from a organic grower you can ask what soil mix this plant likes, it’s funny my all time favorite plants i ever grew always had one thing in common, nutrient deficiencies lol, dying leaves, early yellowing

i was listening to a interview with mean gene where he said something like you can get a soil test, nail the watering, do everything perfectly, grow the plant to maximum health and it’s always the plant on the side that never gets fed or watered that taste the best

anyways lol what i’m trying to say is don’t overthink it, less is more!

Why wouldn’t you want to use it for more than one run? Organics gets better as it goes.

You don’t want to add more stuff, unless you cut down into smaller ratios of each ingredient, then that’s for sure a positive. Adding more stuff will just lock the plant out. 4 cups max of your mix for a cubic foot is pretty much the standard.

You have several ingredients in your list that do the same exact things, blood and alfalfa for example…

.checkout the thread I linked you, that’s from before any IG growers and LC himself was a God on that thread. Clackamas, they all on there

I’ve read all the organic threads on IC 2x over

I actually ran “the one” for a while from cootz

if your familiar with IC, the mix I’m using is what meltingpot swears by
idk if you’ve seen any of his newer grows or know who I’m talking about
but I stole this off his Instagram
that’s fritter

I’m 100% not switching anything up, haha.

and I’m content with one and done because to be frank I personally know a couple of organic growers that I grow better same cut with bottled organics like I do now.
I think as time goes on… while technically the soil is incredibly healthy things get harder to control and without frequent soil analysis etc it’s impossible to know
so I’m totally fine with a repeatable one and done solution

I was more wondering for example like aren’t pickled eggshells or whatever a good source of calcium or is it magnesium?
Just trying to hear a few takes on what others would personally do for plants that required more nitrogen etc
I know when a plant is fed with organic soil inputs everything’s already there for the plant to take as it likes.
doesn’t stop the fact almost everyone I know of still waters in bat guano as a sort of pk boost etc
so it’s not as if it’s entirely without addition.
this was more what I was hoping for help with

Solid things to add for nitrogen sources (and other often needed additions), pros of why you like said products etc

I also like the idea of automated watering with blu mats and organics

And do to the nature of viroids and virus’ I’d never reuse a medium in today’s day and age
I run too many different things to feel comfortable doing that

Well, like blood meal and alfalfa many don’t like blood or bone because of where it’s sourced from.

If you don’t want to reuse the mix, it’s kind of a waste of time to go into organics tbh. Lots of $ for a one and done grow.

Blu mats are nice, but everyone I have ever seen run them has to adjust and learn on the fly, I have seen lots of leakage into tents or having to adjust the lines and amount of carrots, it adds up $ super quick.

Soil is slower than hydro, and it’s way easier to dial in hydro for cheaper, especially if you aren’t reusing the soil

And I absolutely love the idea of full KNF

But I’d never in a million years do it indoors

I almost went to regen camp in humboldt this year so I’m not without a love for organics

full notill etc just simply won’t work for production indoors ever for me
I think the focus on it would add a fun new aspect of the hobby for headies and I’m not dogging it’s use

It just simply doesn’t work for me indoors

if I ever find myself in a couple forever flowering GH’s I may change my tune but for now it won’t work

Yeah it’s definitely more of an art with organics vs the direct science of the hydro. That’s why there’s not really any, this nute is the best, it’s up to you, the artist

I’ve set up a couple very large grows with blu mats
very Pre LED days when i had to find out the hard way about wrapping the main lines with tin foil to avoid bubbles in the system from the heat of the bulbs

I already pretty much grow 100% organically

I do everything for a reason

I managed a hydro store for a few years and to be proficient at advice on consultations for large clients I had to run absolutely everything.

my regimen consistently brings the absolute best out of whatever line it is and has been doing so for over a decade.

but I want repeatable results. no till is erratic and I don’t feel like dealing with it indoors
now outdoors where plants are less fussy
I would use it in a heartbeat
Or at least mixed spectrum

The only non organic input I use is MOAB and I don’t use it for all varieties

I use peat and organic bottled nutes and I’d put a good run of my herb against any no till in terms of flavor and taste and smell

I don’t run organics because it’s something I particularly care about, I run what I do because of the results

if salts could do what this regimen does I’d switch in a heartbeat it’d be way cheaper lol

@Shamus obviously you’re way less lazy than i am haha, i thought you were asking “how do i grow organic”

i hate mixing shit in my water, i do tho, ph adjuster and saponin
