I have been adding powdered dolomite lime to my soil-less mix for about 35 years now.
Helped me immeasurably.

Lime supplies the essential elements calcium and magnesium. It also adjusts the soil to a pH range suitable for optimum plant growth (sweetens the soil).
Add dolomitic lime ā the type commonly used for vegetable gardens ā to the potting mixture. It contains both calcium and magnesium, which are essential for plant growth and chlorophyll formation. Dolomitic lime is added at the rate of 4 to 5 pounds per cubic yard of potting mixture.
Dolomite lime has a lot of magnesium, so I like to add a little extra calcium, like powdered eggshells or oyster shell flour. You can buy oyster shell flour, but clams are dumb cheap up here, so I make Stuffed Quahogs and crush the shells when weāre done.
Alsoā¦ Hot damn, how have I not been to your thread yet! Beautiful, man.
Calcium Hidroxide and/or Magnesium, that is the closest i can get to Dolomite. Now, why do i need Dolomite if my pH is Alkaline @ 7.7pH, shouldnāt i bring it down instead? They also say that this is better than Dolomite.
Was wondering the same but as I just came into the conversation, Iām not sure whats in your soil. Thereās two scenarios
A) The thinking might be that you need a liming agent to act as a buffer, to keep your pH from swaying.
Or B) maybe they smoked a lil extra and mixed up acid and base. Lol.
This is why I use powdered dolomiteā¦I read in a cannabis grow book in '81 orā82 (I think by Cervantes) that dolomite acts as a buffer.
It has a PH of 7. Therefore it should keep the soil mix close to 7ā¦prevents swaying.
It has worked well for me in containers.

Stabilizing pH with Dolomite lime
The best way to stable PH is by adding 1 ounce of Dolomite Lime per 1 gallon of planting soil.
Dolomite Lime is available in garden nurseries. Buy the fine Dolomite powder (There may be several kinds of Dolomite like Rough, Medium, Fine)
Dolomite Lime has been a useful PH stabilizer for years, since it has a neutral PH of 7 when added to your soil it stabilizes your soil at PH 7.
Mix the dry soil medium and dolomite together really well, give the mix a good watering then after the water has had chance to settle and leech into the soil a bit give the mix a really good stir. Then water the soil/lime mix and give it another stir
Best plan is to mix fine dolomite lime into your mix before planting. Fine Dolomite will help stabilize your pH; however, if the ph becomes unstable or changes, you can then use Hydrated Dolomite Lime. Add some of the hydrated lime to luke warm water and give it a good stir then water your plants with it. Give the plants a good watering with this hydrated lime added and your PH should fall or rise back to 7
Dolomite lime is also high in two secondary nutes that can often be overlooked by fertilizers; dolomite is high in both (Mg) Magnesium and (Ca) Calcium.
What a pain in the ass eh? Your best bet is to just keep a regular feeding on the go untill the flush period. Dont worry about defs or anything. My first few grows has all sorts of problems. Address them next grow. Itll all be good with the amount of time you have left. Also subcool always says āif im having problems i transplantā
This is the best course of action i believe too. Will do Sensei, they have been flushed, and will be given nutes with pHād water next timeā¦ I dunno if to keep on using those nutes, they seem to be very alkaline and i always have to brng them downā¦ Maybe use just Canna or Technaflora!
I am paying attention bro! The thing is that for this grow it might be impossible to get some of that. I will have to update my grows for the first of the yearā¦
I still think that no matter what some people just have it. Totally intuned to their plants.
My Nona was a very gifted gardener, no training, Italian immigrant. Lived in her garden. If you could just see and taste her veggies. Her grapes alone were twice the size and so much sweeter then the same vine in italy. I always thought she would have been an amazing pot farmer. RIP
I gotta research and find out about its uses and applications in our Costarican world. Itās not the same not only the appearance of things but also the way they are used. And even the names too.
