Here’s a movie being made about a canadian farmer who bred his own grain from plants passed down for generations and monsanto tried to sue him saying he was using and selling their “breed”…meanwhile he never bought any of their garbage to farm with.
I’ve been following that story for years now, I didn’t know that there is a movie coming. Impressive the acting talent they have too.
I never understood why Monsanto didn’t get sued for releasing a ‘pernicious weed’ into the environment.
It really does suck strainly is closing. Users spent time to gain feedback etc all for nothing!
It is a good platform and just what the cannabis community needs. Like a middle man between breeders and consumers. Good vision and op system.
I would think the money would be there to sustain them, they aren’t doing any packaging or shipments themselves.
Maybe a small annual fee to all users would ave the site. We were about to sign up for the commercial package at 59$ a month. One prob though is their system for taking payment. Many if not most financial institutions don’t do business with any business cannabis related. Something has to be done about this in the near future!
Got a message from someone I got clones from (PNW Strain Hunter) and he said Strainly put a message out that if they have or get enough “paying members” they’d stay online. So I emailed Strainly expressing my support if they continued providing trading and whatnot.
it’s really strange that some people get the mails and some don’t, and then others get some emails but not the others. I get the update emails but not the emails about closing or memberships or anything. the whole closing business is a bit odd to me but I would definitely like to help keep them up and running. what’s really great about it is in this ever changing capitalist takeover of our craft and turning it into an industry, Strainly gives us the ability to keep our production in our hands. I can dig it.
I want to believe people that paid for memberships to posts trades and such are the ones who got the emails about shutting down. I haven’t received any emails about shutting down either. Like you said I get emails about who I follow and what they added nothing else.
I got an e-mail about them shutting down, and I do not have a paid membership. I have been getting the weekly updates, and I didn’t get any e-mails about them wanting to keep it open either.
Yeah I got an email from them in the last week or so saying they’ve had a huge outpouring of support, and if they can manage they’re going to stay open.
In order to give us some visibility and finance some nice upgrades to Strainly, we would need to know how many of you would be willing to commit to a 6-month or 1-year plan.
…
If you are interested, please simply reply to this email now. This will determine the future of Strainly.
Thank you for your continuous support!
I told them of course, and haven’t heard back yet. Will update y’all if I do.
I was brand new there like 2 weeks before they shut down, dont have a paid membership only posted a intro. I got emails, not as soon as some but i got some.
I received the closing notice e-mail and the last one too . I responded to the first one , sad/disappointed suggested as they should figure in a small fee to members and/or a reasonable %, of a sale , to avoid closing ( if the lack of revenue was the main factor for shutting down). The last ‘strainly team’ email , stated they were considering staying open if enough members will agree to pay a fee , includes improvements and what not. As far as I could tell as far as the cost for members ,if they do decide to keep it going , pretty much based on their three different advertising levels , base level I believe is $59 per month, up to the highest level plan like $240 per month, . 6 mos up front, believe that’s what it was, I could be mistaken.
Yes, that is exactly what I suggested too. But, I just received another email, and that’s how they want to do it. For the seller to purchase one of their advertising programs, for 6 months min. Or 1yr. Least expensive program runs $59 per month. I imagine if you aren’t selling, it’s still free, otherwise, it wouldn’t make sense.
Thats hurts the little guy though who has a few older packs to sell . Thats the best part about strainly. Getting that pack you missed or didnt buy enough of.
So it’s free to browse and purchase right? But if you want to sell something they want $59 per month, per year, etc…
Still crazy IMO!
Why not charge the seller a percentage of each item sold.?.
At that price point, which is the cheapest (I think*) one would need to sale multiple packs per year to make it worth the expense.
I guess I’m just cheap…
