It’s almost time to see if you were right.

The only real way I can tell is that the rosin pressed with bag leaves a lot less residue in the banger after dabbing. I only do low temp dabs or whatever, but with the straight flower rosin with no bag, you can notice a bunch more burnt up particles in the residue. It may slightly affect taste too, but that’s hard to say.

I use the cooler to hold the ice cold water. You’re supposed to use RO water, or some shit, but I haven’t gone through that trouble. The washing machine is modified with the drain tube, release valve, and by removing some of the plastic filter. Throw all your trim and small buds in the machine, or use full buds if you want a nug run. Cover with just a bit of ice. Drain ice water from orange cooler to washing machine, approx 4.5 gallons. Turn machine on for first wash for 3 minutes. Machine off for five or so minutes to let the heads settle to the bottom and then open valve, and drain through your set of bags. 220u first, 160u next, 120u, 90u, 73u, I don’t use the 25u because it’s trash and takes too long to drain. Pull the 220 bag out and dump into trash and clean the bag immediately with cold water and leave to hang. The next bag 160u will be good for edibles, maybe pressing. It’s best to have a sink with a sprayer so you can spray the hash off the walls of the bags to the center of the of the sieve and also allows you to filter out some trash from the hash. Once all the hash is in the middle, scoop with cold metal spoon onto a 25u mat (these usually come with the bubble bags) with paper towels underneath. Press the hash on to the paper towels, to squeeze out the excess water. I put mine on a plate, then paper towels, then 25u mat. After squeezed, put into fridge. Collect your next bag, same process, immediately clean after scooping hash out with cold water. Once you’ve collected all the bags, reset everything for the next wash, this time wash for 6 minutes, collect, rinse, reset, and then run for 15 minutes for final wash. Rinse, wash, repeat… it’s kinda a lot of work, getting the ice, setting everything up, and then cleaning is the really pain.

Def google 'Frenchy cannoli hash making tutorial" for a video guide of this process.

I probably over complicated things for you, cuz you can def grab a wooden spoon, setup your bags with ice in a bucket and then get to stirrin’. Or use the drill method, to save your arm. You’ll end up with slightly more contaminated hash, but like you said, in the end, it all gets you super high.

Ah, okay, yeah. I dunno if I’m gonna use the washing machine thing, but the way you did it is basically the way I was planning on doing it. Except, is that five five-gallon buckets in that pic? So you dump each bucket into the one underneath it? That totally makes sense, but is not what I was gonna do at all haha. I was just planning on putting all five bags in one bucket, but yeah, I like separate buckets for each bag much better.

Anyway, thanks, dude! This first run will be kind of half-assed. I’m certain there’s gonna be a lot of extraneous plant material in it, just because the trim from those BAH and C. Gold plants weren’t exactly ideal for hash making, but I don’t really have a problem with that. I’m not trying to win any competitions or anything haha.

The way I have it setup is a complete five gallon bucket at the very bottom. Then, I took four other buckets, and basically cut the rim of the bucket off. Pictured here:

So they all fit on top one another. Each bag goes in a bucket rim, and they stack. It’s just a shortcut to easily pull each bag out. It’s also much easier to spray the sides of the bags with a sprayer and wash the hash to the middle this way.

In your case, you don’t need all that. You can do separate buckets and all that, but for your first couple times… don’t complicate it. Just line your bucket with all your bags in the correct order. Put your trim/smalls down in there. Dump some ice and the coldest water you can use in there, about 3-4 gallons in one five gallon bucket. Stir for about ten minutes. Let rest for 5-10 minutes. Pull out each bag and scoop your resin. I like making little patties, try to get them as dry as you can, on the 25u mat, then freeze them for 24hr, then microplane on to cardboard covered with parchment. The reason I do this is because any contaminates from the plant matter or whatever can cause your hash to mold easily. If it is microplaned or broken up into small chucks, it dries faster, and there’s less opportunity for mold spores to germinate. Hit me up with any questions you may have along the way. Good luck!

Ahhh, okay, that’s a good idea. I’ve watched/read multiple hash-making tutorials and I don’t think I’ve ever seen that, with the cut-up five gallon buckets. I use those things for fucking everything, so I’m not gonna cut mine up haha, but that really is such a good idea. Never woulda occurred to me to do that haha.

Another good piece of info. You’re so helpful, Iamyou! Haha. I didn’t think about that, either, and now I’m reconsidering even making hash with that trim. But I probably still will, if for no other reason that it’s, like, something to do haha…

Well I washed my fresh frozen Lemon Party:

Was hoping for way more yield, so pretty much big failure, booo! May be able to press gram or two of hash rosin from whole plant. It smells good though.

Probably won’t try the fresh frozen again unless it’s with a cultivar that I know for sure will dump the trichs. I’ve seen people do the wash test with fresh buds, so that may be another way to approach it. Also not sure my machine is setup to wash the plant material correctly, as a bunch or plant material ended up in the filter of the machine and not sure the trichs were able to flow freely enough.

Will probably just stick to regular old drying and then making the smalls into hash rosin.

Another kind fail, is this Vietnam Black s1 - I fucked it up pretty good haha.

Whole plant completely flopped at day 65 or so. They’re at day 70 now and need a bit more it looks like. Smells are bright fruit, mango, pear and berries… the one has a more hazy smell, while the other one has a more ‘meaty’ smell. I think I over-fertilized both of them and transplanted them at the wrong time, so they never filled out the pots correctly.

I’m liking the look of this Casper OG in only 1/2 gallon hydro pot. Starting to show some deficiencies, but seemed to be developing some nice buds still.

Both Fishscales stacked up pretty nice. They’re in 1gallon fabric pots. Smells like cleaner, kind chemmy, but little but gassy too. Lookin’ good for 40 days flowering.

DLA5 are doing well. Cleaned out a bunch of under growth. Just starting to frost up, so I’ll get some smells soon, and some bud shots.

GMO x BT - might have gotten a little etiolated, I’m only running like 100w LED for them. Maybe just some stretchers, GMO definitely was.

SIP is full to the brim. I top dressed all the boxes again this week with Compost, ewc, bokashi, little craft blend. Watered in with Rootwise and BuildAFlower. Drinking pretty steadily now.

Thanks Duder!

Yeah, the Vietnam Black is supposed to have a unique high, so it will be interesting to sample some here soon. I’d like to grow some again, but more properly the next time.

The Fishscale is from Shoreline Genetics, it’s ECSD x ECSD x Crippy. Doesn’t look like ECSD that I’ve seen, but maybe it’s more Crippy dominate. does Crippy = TK ? Or is there some relation there?

Hopefully the flavor and high of the LP hash rosin is good, or else all that work for naught!

Nahhhhh, dude, that looks pretty good to me. I mean, I dunno, that’s two whole plants’ worth? Maybe not the greatest yields haha, but I’m sure the smoke’ll be good anyway. You’re gonna press that hash? Or just blaze it as-is?

Still haven’t pressed mine yet, went on a few job interviews last week and was like,”I really don’t want these jobs anyway. If I make hash in the morning, before the interviews, I’ll go in there with the full-on,‘I’d rather be home making hash’ vibe…” So I waited haha! Probably make it tomorrow.

Why do you say that? Just cuz of those crispy leaves and shit? That happens to me all the time by day 70 (usually earlier haha), doesn’t seem to affect the weed at all. Maybe it affects the yields. Sometimes they flop pretty bad, too, probably oughta use more K silicate or something, but it’s nothing to worry about, I don’t think. I mean, maybe I’m just a bad grower haha, but it all seems to smoke pretty damn good regardless. I’m really looking forward to the Vietnam Black smoke report, despite how gawd-awful your plants look :joy::joy::joy:

I mean yeah, it wasn’t total failure, I just would have been happier if I just dried the buds, I think? The one branch I did dry came out quite nice. Dense frosty nugs. It was only the one plant. Maybe 3-4oz worth of dried nugs, had I done it that way. Def gonna micro plane and press to rosin though, may as well, I took it this far…

Haha, probably a good idea. I know I always end up smelling like hash when making it too, so uh, make sure you shower before your interviews, haha. Plus once I get involved in a project like that, it always takes longer than I think, so best to do it when you have nothing else lined up.

Nah, not really, I don’t care about the crispy leaves really… it’s more the little deep green sugar leaves that are poking out everywhere… lots of leaf, that’s all curled down. Looks like too much N, too late in flower. I know you do organics, but these were being fed with pure blend pro, so I think they’re just sensitive to too many nutes. The other Viet Black looks a little better. I think I heard someone say about the high, maybe it was Bodhi or DocD, but it’s like you can’t even really tell you’re high with this one, it just enhances certain things or something weird like that. I’d have to go back and find the quote, but that’s what actually made me grow them, haha. I hope they’re as trippy as they sound, despite their fugliness…

Happy 420 everyone!

Much gratitude to cannabis for getting me through good times and bad.

Though it is just another day, I like to take a little time to reflect on this special herb and how it’s impacted my life. Also gotta have a little fuckin’ fun

Awesome shot as always! I bet that would be really annoying being an insect trying to crawl through such a high density of cystolith hairs & trichomes haha.

I had to make sure there were no fungus gnat wings in the shot, because that’s definitely happened before :joy: Thanks man!

You too man!

They went into flower pretty small, they’re the two small plants in the very front of this image:

They had just gone into flower and I transplanted shortly after going into flower and kinda messed them up, so your results may vary, especially with the Lemon Thai in there.

Here they are now, the two in the very front:

If the one didn’t flop over, she’d probably be as tall as the stake.

Closer look at the one on the left:

They’re at 76 days flowering now and look like they could keep going for awhile, but I haven’t really looked at trichs yet.

Reeferman once said the Vietnam Black was his favorite high. 10 years ago i really enjoyed his strain Willie Nelson (VB x Nepal sativa). Really hard to find now.
