If you wanted to get all the benefits from all the various terpenes in any cannabis strain while vaping…
Would you ramp up the temp while your vaping, so you can extract all the goodness out?
I use an Arizer Extreme Q with an adjustable thermostat.
Am I thinking about this too much??? Hmmm…
I had an extreme q for years and never really did settle on a temp. I find the higher you go the more effective it is but it starts to taste like burnt popcorn and get scratchy on the throat. I have a Volcano Hybrid now and I seem to be always changing the temps. Lately I’ve been at 180-185c but sometime I turn it up higher if I want more of a buzz but it’s usually too harsh. 170-175 tastes great but doesn’t do the trick for me. Maybe try starting your bags at a lower temp and turning it up higher as you go that way you’ll have the tasty hits and the harsh popcorn that gets ya super baked.
If I use a whip instead of a bag and turn the fan on at lower temps - there is no vapor, but a huge amount of flavor. if I bump up the temp, the flavor changes and you are able to see loads of vapor. Question is, if I just start at the higher temp, am I missing out on some of the good stuff by simply having too high a temp?
Great post! I have a extreme q as well and this is a really good question. May have to experiment later😁
Usually I set it to 220C and just keep it there.
Let me know what you think of it. I really want a flower vaporizer and to stop combustion…
I had a Zephyr Ion like 10 years ago. Was too harsh. But now after smoking weed for almost 17 years its time to stop. Only 34. Have a long time I need these lungs to last me.
I probably smoke a bowl a day and been like this for like 5 years so definitely not as a big of a smoker as some.
Well, happy weekend to you my friend!
I turn 39 Monday and smoke multiple bowls a day, started smoking herb 2 weeks before I turned 13. And off and on cigarettes for 25 years too. Im quitting them again and want to end combustion completely. Ive had this smokers cough for too long.
I wish you all the power to kick cigs brother. Nasty habit. But ive known a bunch of people who have quit so it can be done. Myself included. I socially smoked for 12 years and got addicted. Been 4 years since ive had a cigarette.
I’ve quit 7 or 8 times in the years I’ve been smoking. Here’s to hoping its the last time.
Also one of the reasons I want to try a cbg strain, I’ve read they can help you with the desire to smoke.
Here is a short list of the terpenes and cannabinoids and the temperature to get the biggest benefits.
311° Pinene (155°C)
315° THC (157° C)
320° Caryophyllene (160° C)
334° Myrcene (168° C)
349° Limonene (176° C)
356° CBD (180° C)
365° CBN (185° C)
388° Linalool (198° C)
428° THCv (220° C)
The problem with vaping temps is that the carcinogens start to vaporize at 392F (if I recall correctly), so I set my vape it at 388F and leave it there. Yes, maybe I miss out on some of the “heavier” effects from vaping at higher temps (essentially smoking it), but I don’t ever feel like I’m shorting myself. I still get plenty high, and the heavy indica effects are present and in full effect with the right strain.
I totally get that. What I’m wondering is, am I losing out on good stuff by going directly to 360-390 F? Should I ramp up to that slowly and vape some of the stuff I can’t see, but can can taste?
Everything below the temp max will flash off as the temperature rises so you will get it all in one hit rather than individual terpenes at different temp settings.
I feel like I dont get a lot of vapor in my exhale. Is this normal?
I found the same thing, I started to vape weed with a higher moisture content and it improved the quality of the taste, might be you are just getting the right amount without wasting it anything that is exhaled is not used.
Yeah these buds got dry for some reason the snap top lid for my 5 gallon buckets wasnt sealing. Guess im gonna have to use gamma lids exclusively.
How’s the new vaporizer?
