The @HolyAngel SSDD F2 BX1 are looking great, he put one in a bed and it went boom so he put another one in yesterday. Should be ready to sex soon. I’m hoping he puts all the girls in raised beds to give their feet room to move, less chance of deficiencies and definitely bigger yields. He said he had to emergency transplant them all due to using chicken shit that was too hot in his soil mix and it stunted the growth a bit but they are back on track now
3 out of 4 of the @Guitarzan GSC x MMH just got the chop this week, he said he’s been battling caterpillars hard so they may of came down a little early. He’ll send pics soon so we’ll see. #4 has just started flowering so she’s on track to throw some sizey spears. I’m going to suggest a bug net for #4, he’s a master builder/carpenter so I’m sure he can rig up something pretty solid.
Medical passed here in 2018. I hadn’t grown outside in 40 years at that point, so I planted 9 plants I cloned from a bag seed in a garden area we have. By Sept., they were all 8-9 tall, and were looking really good. Within a week, I lost them all to worms. I use this to control them:
BT is a bacterium, not a pesticide. The product itself is a concentrate with the bacillus in suspension. You spray the plants once a week, using 15ml per gallon, and when the baby worms emerge, and take that first bite of plant, they ingest the bacteria, which releases a toxin that paralyzes their mouths, so they starve. I’ve used BT every year since 2018, and the only worms I’ve seen were little dead ones.
I couldn’t find BT on amazon.au, but you should be able to find it at a gardening store.
Gnatrol is BT, too. I dunno if they ship to Australia, but you can order from them directly and avoid having to pay Amazon for anything, if that’s important to you. It is to me. Fuck Amazon.
Monterey BT for caterpillars is
Bacillus thuringiensis subspecies kurstaki strain SA-12 ( Btk )
Gnatrol is
Bacillus thuringiensis subsp. israelensis strain AM65-52
The Gnatrol is not as good for caterpillars. Use the BtK SA-12 for caterpillars. There are other brand names beside Monterey that use that strain. Monterey is just easily available in the US.
Ahh, okay, didn’t know there was a difference, never had to deal with caterpillars since I only grow indoors. I was just thinking more along the lines of avoiding ordering anything from Amazon, since they’ve pretty much destroyed local businesses all over the place.
I use bt for mushroom grows helps with gnats. Mosquito bits are bt you can get at most suppy stores. Home Depot Lowe’s tractor supply… @minitiger here you go no amazon
Yeah, I’ve used mosquito bits before (still have like an almost-full container in my grow room closet, actually), but they only seem to contain the problem; Gnatrol fucking eradicates that shit.
