The heaviest, gnarliest, sleepiest, couch-lock indica?

When I asked the same question a couple months back, I settled on Black Domina, I have two in flower right now.

Most important IMO is making sure the plant has a good amount of Amber as well. Not so much that flavor and high are compromised, but enough that you get your desired level of stone. Also correct me if Iā€™m wrong, but I believe itā€™s CBD thatā€™s worked on when Amber starts usually. Outside of the CBN that THC oxidizes into as far as Iā€™m aware being the main reason for the color.

That is also a very very good point @OniTenshu; i cut the last batch down with about 10-15% amber; next time will hold longer

Thanks everyone for the suggestions!

I will be looking and researching.

Do we know where @BogSeedsā€™ SourBluTooth falls in terms of effect?

No, in fact running a CBD strain longer can make it go ā€œhotā€ as THC goes up.

Amber is, as you stated, THC oxidizing into CBN. CBN is very sedative, in fact more sedative than benzodiazepines mg for mg.

Now weā€™re talkingā€¦!

hmm. @ReikoX, are you aware of a practical way to convert THC in my existing dried flower?

Take a look st this articleā€¦
https://www.steephill.com/blogs/34/Cannabinol-(CBD):-A-Sleeping-Synergy

CBN will form with age as a degradation product, but that can take years. An over decarb would do it, but would sacrifice a lot in the process. I have no idea what time/temperature to use though.

Iā€™m sure they have a option also, but my thoughts are a low temp decarb to retain as many terpenes as possible.

160f is my preference for low temp decarb. For about 8 hours or so.

According to this article:
https://www.catscientific.com/decarboxylating-cannabis/

They were able to get 4mg/ml conversion of THC to CBN with 24 hours at 122Ā°C (about 250Ā°F). Not very efficient IMO.

This wikileaf article claims 4 years before THC degrades (into CBN) to about 46%. Light, oxygen, heat, and time are all variables.

Now Iā€™ll have to find out what it is I do thenšŸ˜…

Otherwise if edibles are your thing ReikoX is the person to ask.

Only things Iā€™ve noted are ethanol tends to decarb really fast on its own if left in a bright area to evaporate. My hash oil I should have filtered more got a very strong nutty smell and taste that straight up tasted like walnuts. A smell I was more familiar with in less intensity when I decarb my bud in my convection oven. The oil just made it knock me out if I added it to anything. I still have some I canā€™t scrape off I have to do a wash to get the rest of the dish.

Ranting, but long story short you can make edibles to get the stone with bud thatā€™s not Stony enough.

Yes, I cover it in my tincture thread under ā€œNatural Decarboxylationā€ after about 90 days in the alcohol in a cool dark place, will decarb the THC. Note, the plant matter is removed at this point.

What you do with a lower heat at 8 hours is converting THCA to THC. Not long enough to generate a lot of CBN.

Antidoteal evidence on my part, freezing and thawing cycles in a coconut oil extraction causes additional sedation.

Royal Queen? One of the first people I started following like 8 years ago had an awesome cut of blue mystic. Iā€™ve always wanted to try Royal Queen because of it. But never did for some reason

Iā€™ll second this. A friend grew black domina for years and I smoked tons of it. I used to call it ā€˜sleepy budā€™. Tough, vigorous plant and great yielder too!

Thatā€™s the unfortunate part; also i am not sure that CBN increases proportionally. I did some quick google-looking and it seems that at higher temperatures the relationship between THC degraded and CBN created is even less linear.

Yes, there is the down side. Tony Verzura said they were looking into more efficient ways to concentrate CBN. This was on Hash Church a while ago before he and Bubbleman had a falling out business wise.

He gave no hints to how he was going to accomplish this. Perhaps saturating the environment with oxygen or UV light?

No mate, this one is Nirvanaā€™s.

Sampled a small bud thatā€™s been drying for 8 days now, of the triple cheese last night. Still a little green, but fell asleep on the couch with the bowl in my hand after two hits lol!

i think your culprit is right thereā€¦ 2/3 would be the target for sleepier weed & youā€™ve got the race-car, early-harvested trichomes.

I might pop a few of these in the next couple weeks. A pure Afghani from Bodhi? Yes please!

Iā€™m also finishing a few Deep Chunk F12s, a Black Domina, Afghani Lowland and Daku plants in the next twoish weeks. Iā€™ll let you know about thoseā€¦

Also, Iā€™m giving out some crosses of Deep Chunk and Black Domina with the Jungle Spice (Congolese x 88G13HP) F2 reproductionā€¦ Those will be 75/25 indicas.
