Vegetable Garden 2021

My first almost ripe Carolina Reapers of 2021…It’s about the size of a nickel but I guarantee it packs a kick ass punch…if this was in the ground the pepper would’ve been bigger. It needs to be repotted in a bigger pot folks.

You need to self pollinate them if you want fruits…use a small brush or Q-tip bromigo…

I didn’t know that ,they don’t fruit by themselves interesting

Yes you have to self pollinate them unless you had bees in your tent, I use art brushes…I just brought all my plants outside even my self pollinated Carolina Reapers with peppers had them indoors during winter…its nice and sunny with temps of 75 degrees here in zone 5.

Even brought out my pineapple plants and Venus Fly Traps

Here are seedlings for my vegetable garden. Ready to be put in the ground after I do more tilling, at least the cool weather veggies are ready.

I noticed these this morning got me thinking about you seem to be breeding with themselves
Well funny story I just threw some seeds into soil I was saving from bell peppers the wife had been buying so I think it’s red green yellow orange in the same pot maybe their breeding with each other lol

I weeded, raked, tilled and planted today, it was hard work but it had to be done. Gonna do it again tomorrow because the rain is coming tomorrow night and keep coming for the next few days.
I already have radishes, onions, asparagus and garlic poking through the soil…I planted my cool weather veggie seedlings and planted some seeds. I planted my potatoes in containers on Good Friday.

Not much to show from me yet. Still have a few more beds to prep and have most of the things I don’t direct seed planted .

My garlic bed took the ice storm like a champ .

This is how much ice was on everything lol

The asparagus bed has heads emerging starting on the 4/6. Since it’s only the second year, we can not pick like we want to. We still need to selective cut this year to allow the crowns to root themselves better.
Green and purple stalks. Super sweet, nutty, and oh so tender raw.
Scallions are in, carrots are in, some potato eyes, beets, spinach, and 3 pairs of Fig cuttings, I rooted over winter this year from a friends 3 different fig trees, that were carried here from Greece back in the 50’s or so.

Gots onions, garlic, radishes, lettuce etc…popping through the soil…still too cold for my tomatoes, peppers, zucchinis, cucumbers and melons…Dogs have been eating my asparagus…

It feels great to have my garden almost done and the lawn mowed.

Got my cool weather veggies in ground and doing well…

This spot is for the warm weather veggies, still too cold to plant

Just about almost done, suppose to go down to 33 in a few days so I’m holding off on planting tomatoes, peppers, zucchinis and melons.

I have my cool weather plants outside already…I also have radishes, peas, turnips, beets, carrots etc. coming through the soil…my warm weather plants are all inside still because in zone 5B we’re suppose to get mid 30’s temps at nights…my zucchinis & cukes have budz and starting to flower, I started all from seeds in March. It’s nice outside now and got my 1st. of many bonfire of the year going…I have winters worth of dog food bag full of bill’s and important papers to burn up that have account numbers on them not to mention junk mails.

Hi, is it ok to use the same soil (Turf, perlite, worm castings, etc,) for the Carolinas? Thanks!

I suppose, I buy regular potting soil when I plant in pots…or you can plant it outside, you dont get snow there where you’re at.
