no they will take up just more water an leave the nutrients there the plant chooses what to take you have to just make sure to provide enough for the plant to live if it took up nutrients the same as water then you wouldnt have to top off the reciprocating systems like people have to because the e.c. gets all crazy if plants didnt take more water than nutes there would be no need to add fresh water every couple days in fact i believe when you find this perfect harmony of the e.c. staying the same in your runoff or runoff res thats is when you have found the perfect feeding strength if im not mistaken
I believe I heard on " justforgrowers" the other day that with high vpd , plants will transpire quicker bringing along with it increase amounts of calcium and potentially creating calcium toxicity thus intern create lockout of other nutes, calcium being one of the most important nutrients of photosynthesis in controlling stomata functions in the plant.
I think, actually high VPD (low humidity, high heat) conditions stomata will actually close and reduce transpiration
Yes thank you @RickSanchez I will edit
To a certain point yes you are correct the plant will always know how much water it needs if to much is going out yes it will close the stoma eventually !
The plants take in what they need according to their environment. A low humidity will cause them to drink more water, use less nutes. It’s why a lot of new hydro growers have a lot of problems.
Too high humidity will close the stomata
And cause calcium deficiency.
In soil/organics it’s not as big of a deal as long as they are watered enough (but without proper vpd you’re really basically wasting water).
Staying withim optimum vpd will definitely increase your growth and development rates, add co2 to the equation and you’ll have a supercharged garden regardless of which medium/method you use.
I really should post all the info I have on vpd. Think I’ll get to writing it up.
yes please do i try to live by vpd i just dont have the money for the proper equipment to control it fully i do ok with my 40 dollars or so worth of enviroment control but none the less please do
Will get a humidifier asap. Funny bc growing in the Bay Area and New Orleans we always worried about the humidity being too high so now that I’m a mile high I figure I’ll start adjusting.
coming from the south and visiting Denver thats what i noticed most was how dry it is. made cotton mouth a real problem for me…lol, but what they call a heat wave is nothing without the humidity we have here.
preach brotha hahaha
Just moved around and arranged and almost finished the big room.
Moved some seedlings from the tent in there and watered all.
My goodness… watering 60 plants by hand from the shower in gallon vases is tiring. Lol
When finished RH up to 35% but now down to about 30%. Ran some CO2 for a bit too.
Was good to make some room in the tent for the new seedlings and just about time for the seedlings almost teens to get under the T5 in the big room with side light from the 2 60% 1k HPS. The bigger mixed up unlabeled teens are now fully under the 2 1ks.
Will edit and get pics later. There is this one unlabeled teen that is so short and squat with the longest stems connecting the leaves to the branches. Really interesting.
Also sprayed everyone down with my water neem oil mix citronella essential oils and I forget what other essential oil I put a couple drops in but it was recommended somewhere (cedar? Lavender? Grapefruit? I can’t effin remember)
Perfect bro…looks nice and ready to fill up with magic
Here’s the Lemon Lotus (which there also may be a few of these in that mix in the big room) and the two GDPxPurpleAffy seedlings
BTW ordered a clone king 32 site cloner today… strayfox recommended it to me and said even when he lived in the desert he cloned with it 100% no problem. So I’m all over that, as the teens are gonna start showing sex soon. And I plan on keeping a few around bc even though I’m not sure what they are, I’m sure I can go down that list and figure it out. Not to mention, a few things on that list I don’t have many seeds of…
Aside from the rolling I describe… I’m always pulling off blocking fan leaves and worthless nodes to focus on optimum growth and light coverage to good spots.
NYCD easily the tallest in the room. Topped once then later cut the top lower. Stripped a ton of undergrowth a week or two ago to shape branching. Pluck stuff off here often to set her frame for the growth she’ll be doing the in the big pots (15gal)
Cherry Lime Haze topped as well
Banana Kush, topped and cleaned underneath like the other two but took off another top to make light and room for inner branches. Wider than it is tall and really has tons of nodes. This one is gonna have flower sites everywhere!
Here’s a couple of the unmarked teens from seed. Have started stripping off the immature old undergrowth from when they were still seedlings to force the growth up.
One of the smallest
This one didn’t have as many nodes as some (some already had 8-10) but I stripped bottom nodes anyway
Some other of the unmarked teens
The ones that recently got moved from the tent to the big room under the T5. 3 of these are the new clones that were put in jumbo squares that will go into 10gals later unlike their twins that are in 3gals and will stay in those to mother cuts. The seedlings are from closet to furthest in 2nd pic… Durban Punch, middle tray Jaeger, and Sakura & BruceB3xApollo21 on the far end better seen in the first pic on the right tray
Durban Punch closest tray, Jaeger and clones in middle but also BrucexApollo in middle in the smaller pots. The Jaeger is for sure the most vigorous. I would say widest leaves but a couple of the Sakura (Katsu Bubba x Wookie) are looking fat too.
I love the pattern of one jaeger, eye catching for me. Bottom left in the first pic of the last post.
The Jaeger is actually @Fuel (edit)bottom of the middle row of the first pic in that last post, I believe
