WHAB’s 1924 Brick Schoolhouse RDWC

Brothers Made Coffee Table Base Bookcase is a little less than 1/2 way done with the 1st coat.

With just the ceiling lights on…

With the task light above the Slab on…

Then, while I was making these shelves I got a hint of figure in a few of the pieces.

I couldn’t be sure that what I thought I was seeing was really what I was seeing!

I almost mentioned it earlier but I didn’t want to be wrong…I just wasn’t sure.

ROFLMAO

Those light looking lines going from side-to-side in the image above are streaks of figure.

I can’t for the life of me recall what they are called.

@Rhino_buddy, any ideas? Do you know what that kind of figure is referred to as?

And, see that dark bit on the shelf of the left?

It’s a freeloader!

Take that you buggery bug! ROFLMAO

Case was finished at 10:50CT, shelves soon after that. Drying requires 4 to 6 hours. Then, sanding in between.

Clear Satin Polyurethane.

I’m aiming for 2 coats for sure, maybe 3.

Are you all making it a great night?!?!

Time for a tokie!,

Unless it’s picking up a brown tone from somewhere else, refracted through to Trichome, that ‘might be’ a hint of Amber.

Just a hint and nothing conclusive as of right now. Still wanna get the anolog viewer, my peepers of them! winky

But, it does look like the LED Dimmer is working. The BRIGHTNESS looks to be tamped down just a bit!

Now, where was I?

Oh, that’s right…

Hey friend! Looking good! Damn bugs and polyurethane. Hahah. I always have that issue.

As for the white ribbons, I think that’s what your referring to, are possibly medullary rays in the grain, like you would see in quarter, or rift sawn lumber. It’s neat that you can get so many different appearances just from how you mill a log. Just what I remember. I’ve been out in the heat so don’t quote me on that. Lol.

Have a great day friend!

I usually cut off a snippet of the plant tissue I want to image and place that somewhere stable. Taking the images by hand in situ requires taking several photos and deleting the garbage ones. The photos you took are pretty good! You can definitely see what is going on in the trichome world. Those amber ones look destroyed, I’m not sure the cap is intact.
lol! Also I have a tip about winding strings up… When I was a yo yo champ… Just kidding, but you have to put tension on the string and roll the yoyo up to wind the string around the center, otherwise you are winding tension in the string that has to be unwound by untwisting itself. Each wind when you are holding the yo yo in your hand not turning it as you wind the string with the other hand is actually twisting the string itself. hah hah I’m not sure if that made any sense, but you can’t walk the dog when the yo yo is spinning like a top.

Hello Xxxxxxxx,

Thank you for taking the time to reach out to me.

Please provide me with the link to the forum so I can take a look into. Unfortunately, I would not be able to partake in the conversation of your test as I am not allowed to, but perhaps I can reach out to my Manager to see if it is something they would be interested in looking into. Your results will also be looked at and will allow us to see if there are any changes we need to make on our end to better improve the product…

Hey @ReikoX! wavy

Yes, 2 digit year is unusual, at least in the modern era.

At least that date code makes some sense to me instead of fully random numbers like the end of those app assigned titles.

It does save me time in bringing them in to MS Paint and titling and saving them myself.

Thank you for your contribution, friend!

Hey brother @Rhino_buddy! wavy

Yeah, when I put the second coat on I’m going to turn the ceiling fan on and hopefully that will keep them at bay long enough for it to get closer to drying.

I know what medullary rays (ray fleck) are. There are medullary rays are on the edges of these shelves. I selected the front pieces for the other non-spalted shelves for their medullary rays.

It’s not quite “Curly” but has a sort of wave appearance when looking at it from a certain angle.

Thank you for adding to the discussion, my friend!

Stay COOL!

Hey @JoeCrowe! wavy

Yeah, I am reluctant to go cutting buds off just to look at them. That is what I will do IF I have to, just hoping I don’t have to.

Oh, I toss way more images than I post! ROFLMAO

I need to spend more time in there, with a Steady-Stick if necessary, to try to improve my image taking skills.

That’s a good idea on the Yoyo’s! I could attach some weight to the hook when re-winding them - IF I ever have to rewind one again :crossed_fingers: winky.

Spoken like a “real” Yo-Yo Champion! ROFLMAO

Man, I haven’t done very much today except to babysit a sour belly. I think I know what caused this one. I like Sharp Cheddar Cheese! 2 nights in a row.

But, I did check the Res. pre and now post their 10:00PM feeding (AND NOW nearly Garden II Flower Day 57 ROFLMAO).

Garden II Flower Day 56

I topped off with about 5 gallons of plain water. I also emptied about 5 gallons of A/C accumulation.

pH was 5.9 pre-top off. E.C. was bouncing 2.1.

It returned as…

E.C. 2.0.

I’m going to try and knock that down a tick or two.

I’m also going to write “Do Not Follow The Recipe” in LARGE print on the bagS of the Mega Crop nutrients!

ROFLMAO

Environmentals…

I put the Acurite Remote Sensor marked Loft near the middle of the back wall, the West wall, you’ll see it in the images. The Under-Loft sensor is residing on that Temporary Mount. I might develop that idea into something more.

IF I can get it done I likely will re-name the Loft sensor.

Shit! I forgot to note the offset or the probe. It is still AC #3. Act accordingly! winky. I am hoping our friend @Gpaw would be willing to entertain a query in that regard?

Regardless my less than 100% feeling well, I’m going to get in there again (I did already! ROFLMAO! Need to get back in there and clean things up!) , including the back side.

I did lighted 60X Loupe all the plants, with a steady stick (I need a taller steady stick!).

They are all Clear to Cloudy. Mostly Clear to Cloudy.

#6 Bubba Kush is showing strong hints of Amber. Just hints but they are looking to be coming in.

I also figured out which Girl is Which is Which.

The 2 tallest Girls are Afghan Kush #4 & #5.

The Girl going across the front of #5 is #6 Bubba Kush which is also the cola in front of the fan.

I got a part of a finger partly in front of the lens in the 3rd image. Apologies.

From the Zipper Door…Landscape then Portrait views.

Then a Family Photos holding the camera above the Zipper Door…

Then above the outer edge of the circle…

Also, a few days ago I did lower the lamp about 4 inches.

Good NEARLY morning! winky

Make it a great day! rockon

I have to eat something but I don’t know what!

Every time this happens I always flash back to my Texas Girlie using Cannabis to quell her symptoms related to menstruation decades ago. Without fail that memory returns.

Their promptness is an admirable trait! tup

Let’s see where this goes.

I was hoping they’d tell me “Hey, Mr. XxxxxXxxx, remove the back cover and turn that Blue Knob to the Left 1/4 turn”.

Still, at least they, from my perspective, have moved on it. Follow-Through is essential very important in my book!

I couldn’t help myself!

Festool-ish MultiFunction Slab Bench Base winky

Preliminary design…

The height is approximately the top of that piece of 2x4 on face and about the right end of the vertical 2x4.

I’d ‘like’ to have the stacked benches at the front of the base but that is impossible UNLESS I cut the stacked benches nearly in half! ROFLMAO

The 2x4s on edge will be positioned between the dog holes the long way and will sit in the spine a few inches from to get to the spot between those far left and far right dog holes. That far right rib will be directly under the Cut-Line of the Quad MFT Hinge System. Trying to stay out of the way of clamping being hindered anywhere…in my mind, IF you can’t spin the clamp one way you can swing it the other direction…

The spine will be positioned directly under the BenchDogs Fence System in the back that still leave that area behind the fence useful. Its ribs will be inset, a little cantilever, from the front edge by about 9 inches or so for the same reason, to leave all of that front edge useful.

Most of those 2x4s you see are offcuts from the Loft! That worked out nice. I’ve been looking at them since I put them aside. winky

Preliminary winky

Oh, 3 days ago was the first time in those 42 days I could lay my legs together laying on my side in bed. My shin/lower was literally untouchable for 42 days. It’s still swollen…

Festool-ish Multi-Function Slab Bench Base

The basic frame is there, at the new height - 36 inches. 37 inches with the 1 inch thick HDF.

I still have to figure out the front supports, trying to stay out of the way of things.

Ultimately I want to build a Torsion Box for it…but, I want access to the underside for cleaning while still staying out of the way of things.

But, I’m going to go adjust the Res. Drain some out and add straight water and pH it to knock it down a tick or two.

Garden II Flower Day 57

Numbers pre-drain and fill…

pH…

E.C. 2.0…

I drained and filled at the same time. It must have been about 10 gallons.

After top-off…

E.C. bouncing 1.8 (probably the sweet spot according to that one chart I found and IF I’m reading it correctly! winky).

Then, right before the 8PM feeding…

E.C. bouncing 1.8.

I want to drain and refill in the next day or so. I want to know what is in that Res. and at which ratio. What nutrients am I removing by draining it. Nutrients that did not get replaced in their relative ratios…

Environmentals…

AC #3 - 75RH - 07292022 Test Results

1% Low Deviation.

AC 3 - 32RH - 07292022 Test Results

6% High Deviation

Then, for those concerned the tops are getting into the Rockwool.

Afghan Kush #4:

Afghan Kush #5:

For the record, I thought for sure that Afghan Kush #5 was back against the wall shriveling under #6’s dominance.

I was surprised when I traced the Girls out…who is who.

icon_e_surprised

I was sure that top was #6, Bubba Kush.

Where was I?

winky

Oh…

Still swollen, skin still tight and shiny…the bruise is still there…

44 days…

frown

Looks like (damn, can’t remember handle - Sorry!) was right as for the injury - Bone Bruise - and the healing period.

frown

I do hope you’re ALL making it a great night! rockon

Edit Add: Make that E.C. 1.8. No bouncing, it is that number.

Festool-ish Multi-Function Slab Bench Base

Now I just have to swing it in place!

Again, a temporary, but hopefully suitable, arrangement.

But, I think I Belly Bumped the Quad MFT Hinge System…

It wasn’t on the Guide Pin.

frown

All of that was made with scraps or offcuts.

These are the offcuts of the offcuts!

But, with that wonky cut (and the others on the underside) I am going to aim towards a new ThisISCarpentry.com Festool-ish Multi-Function Slab in the future.

Maybe I’ll make the Torsion Box then.

Oh, I thought this might be a problem the whole time I’ve been mulling this over.

Getting to the back of the BenchDogs Quad MFT Hinge System to attach the Festool Rail Guide.

I’m going to have to move that crate full of my brothers albums that I’ve been packing around for him for maybe 30 years again just to access that corner. His place caught fire and he didn’t want them. I saved them for him.

But it sure did free up some acreage!

And, something I 1/2 way expected, the floor is wonky, the benches are a little wonky.

I got it level and straight as it needs to be at this moment…which is just barely! I had to put some tapered shims in. Will work on that.

But, while I had it apart I attempted to correct that .2 tenths of 1 degree out of square.

This is where it is constrained, impinged.

I couldn’t get a piece of paper to pass in either direction.

It’s hitting hard there.

From memory paper is about .003 (3 thousandths) of an inch.

I just chiseled it out…

I was able to get .05 of 1 degree out of it.

:man_shrugging: winky

It’s not a bad number…it’s just I am hoping to get it closer. I’m going to try again when I can get around to it. It’s cutting squarer than anything else around here (crap 10 inch Craftsman Sliding Miter Saw, I’m looking at you! ROFLMAO).

It is 38 inches tall. That’s TALL! I’m going to try it but I may have to knock it down an inch or two!

I am going to have to add at least 2 additional braces to prevent those back legs from sliding off the Stacked Benches. I saw that coming too. I’ll just fit a piece from the bottom of those two legs out to the wall behind it.

All of what I do here is Continuous Improvement. A tenet of Lean Manufacturing.

Do something.

Try it.

IF it works, keep it.

IF it doesn’t work, try something else.

A last :tea: for the night and tokie
