WHAB’s 1924 Brick Schoolhouse RDWC

I had a most pleasant visit with @Oldjoints yesterday! tup

I departed ladened with gifts winky

Thank you so very much, my friend! smoke

Killer Queen(S) - 4

Mango Dream(S) -3

DJ Short Blueberry - 1

All the above - unsexed.

I also returned to a porch full of goodies!

While I don’t have the netpots for them or the controller bucket yet I need to get to work on them in preparation. All 100% opaque disco

And, another new arrival yesterday also included this…

The above is saving me from what I understand is a pretty ugly surgery. I was diagnosed with Cubital Tunnel several years ago. Surgery was approved. I had no desire to add to my already extensive scar collection. I suggested to the medical team a brace similar to the one above. It (they) have saved me from that surgery.

Thank you again, brother! tup

I’m not sure I follow? I have gotten lazy before and had just one gallon of water/nutes in my bucket. She wasn’t happy but it wasn’t a problem.
Why would your water levels be frequently low?

But as far as having air stones in Recirculating system I would definitely still use airstones in each bucket.

I looked that surgery up. 1 yr - 1.5 yr to fully recover. :scream:

I’m guessing it’s because of the ebb and flow. The buckets remain virtually empty after each drain cycle for extended periods of time.

@WhiteHotAfterburner, if I’ve guessed correctly, perhaps you can just get a digital timer for your air pump and turn it off at the start of your fill and off at the beginning (or sometime before the end) of your drain cycles.

Edit: I’ve thought many times of adding air stones to my ebb and flow buckets. Things are working so well for me that I’ve never pulled the trigger, but if you do it, I’ll be paying close attention. But I would suggest this - get dialed in first. You can see from what I do that you can get great results without air stones, so it isn’t necessary for great grows.

Edit #2…that previous paragraph might sound like I’m boasting or whatever, but I only wrote it because WHAB is setting up a similar system to mine.

Oh no. It’s not needed in Ebb n Flow. I thought you were referring to RDWC. The time in between your feedings should be sufficient enough.
Would it hurt? I don’t think so. Use two clones one as a control with and without an airstone. See if you see a difference.

How long are your feedings?

Deduced expertly! biggrin That’s exactly what I was referring to.

And, that is precisely what my Thought Process Machine conjured up! smokeit2 I mentally took it one step further; what if I split the outlet where the Fill pump plugs into the controller bucket? Have both the Fill pump and the air pump share the same outlet on the controller?

You know, what…now that I think of it, I remember the Digital Controller Bucket has an power outlet for “Air”… Hmmm!

Thank you, @Purple-N-Hairy tup

:bomb: BOOM! There’s your answer.

Fill & Drain are on one 15 minute graduation on a analog timer - 8 times a day. Precise Fill & Drain time seems to occur just outside that 15 minute period.

Oh no not at all. I’ve seen your work! Lol. Any information you have I would love to hear!

Yeah definitely not necessary. But you could still do an experiment. Won’t hurt.

lol thanks @LilJonB. More than anything else, I wrote that paragraph for people who may wander in to this thread and not understand my connection to @WhiteHotAfterburner’s setup. And I didn’t want to come across as some smug know-it-all :sunglasses:

I’m going to have to look again but, from memory there is a $150+ difference in price between analog and digital. 1 power outlet splitter might be $2? biggrin

Edit Add: Yes, $150+ difference. But, it looks like it has potential.

So, someone somewhere has already pondered this issue! icon_e_surprised

This was more difficult than I ever anticipated it being. Had I known before I left that it would require 4 different stores I think I would have bypassed my town and went to the “city” instead.

Ace Hardware didn’t have any - I went here first because I still needed Stainless Steel hardware for Cloning Machine II. Guess what I left there without? ROFLMAO

Walmart didn’t have any. A local Farm & Home store didn’t have any. Finally, as I was preparing to leave town I happened to look over and see a “Dollar Store”. They had these (the flower pots - I had to GO BACK to Walmart’s for the Drip Pans facepalm ).

I still don’t know what they’re capacity is but I ‘think’ they’re near 3 gallons  I looked for a marking on them and I don’t see it.

Now I have to mix my own Fox Farm Happy Frog Soil Conditioner and then mix up a Soilless batch!

I’m goin’ in!

Who knew bats and seagulls poop dirt-dry poop? They must have been old birds and bats?!?! ROFLMAO

I had to turn a fan on just to keep my lungs from becoming regenerated bird and bat poop! biglaugh

The mix of the mix!

I thought I could get it done in 2 5 gallon buckets. Nope. That’s a full-sized garden hoe. I got it and a large metal bucket (nearly trough size) from my SIL tup

Anyway, here goes! This is just some of them. First the plant, then the label, throughout…

This one deserves 3 images. Them’s are some wild roots!

Just a couple of family photo’s! biggrin

I gave them a small drink of pH’d water - right around 6, I think.

Good morning!

Make it a great day! tup

Oh, I almost forgot the wee lass…

Somewhere around 8 days ago when I did the Emergency Flush I pulled 2 buckets that had wee ones from the second transplant in them. I left them up in the loft outside the grow space this entire time.

I’ve been keeping an eye on this one. It just refuses to die.

I uppotted her! She’s a TDC (Tangerine Dream x C99). She’s earned a place! winky

My back is killing me, literally (I think winky) but I had to try one…

This 3/4 inch bulkhead fitting is what I’m going to use on the new setup. I’m likely going with the Ebb&Gro digital controller. It’s New and Improved NOW with AIR! ROFLMAO

I took the dimension of the fitting, not the threaded area, the body of it. It measures 1.772 inch to 1.765 inch. I went with the larger of the two dimensions. It might get smaller at points around the body but it’s not going to get any larger. With needing to have the edge of the body of the bulkhead fitting as tight to the bottom of the inside of the bucket as possible I used 1/2 of the larger of the two dimensions and my dial caliper to punch a small hole at that measurement from the inside. I transferred that hole to the outside and pilot drilled it. Then I ran the step drill through it. I didn’t know it when I bought the step drill but the maximum hole it cuts is the smallest the hole can be and have the fitting fit through it! tup

I didn’t know until just now that the last picture was blurry. Sorry. I can’t take another one. The bucket with the fitting and a piece of hose are in the bath having a leak test winky

I am ready to batch out some buckets! tup

Now, good morning, for real this time!

I’m with ya in all regards, my friend! tup

I know I have at least one in the Veg space now, maybe 2…not counting the wee ones in there now.

No, I just looked at my list…there are 2 TDC’s in the buckets and 1 wee TDC in one of the flower pots up there. Which, btw, the wee ones are sprinting for the fences! wink

Good morning, @Floyd!
