Good morning brother WHAB
Good Morning Good Morning. WHAB you need to learn to take it easy bud. Lol. Things are looking good!
That TDC99 will work fine OD also if the KQ and MD don’t end up with enough females for you…
What’s this “take it easy” you speak of,@LilJonB?

Thank you, brother! I appreciate that!

I went in early today because I wanted to make sure the (primarily) seedlings residing next to the light controlled space wasn’t experiencing light leaks. There are no light leaks.
Last time I checked the numbers they were excellent! I couldn’t check them just now because it was in the Fill cycle and my arms aren’t that long!
Veg Day 27 (Lights Out)…
Raspberry Cough (This is one of the ones up front that was second to the worst droopy)
Blueberry (Dutch Passion) I spun her around to get her limbs a little farther away from the bulb
Blueberry (Dutch Passion) this one has a limb that is stretching out to the right partially blocking the Tangerine Dream x C99 next to her. I may spin her or ‘try’ to move the Tangerine Dream x C99 that is being partially blocked
Tangerine Dream x C99
Tangerine Dream x C99 (the one I was sure was dead. the one I ripped some of its just forming roots out of)
Raspberry Cough (the other super droopy girl)
The Wee Ones.
Tangerine Dream x C99
Blueberry (Dutch Passion)
I only just now thought I should uppot the wee ones, when I was in uppot mode yesterday!
One of the empty sites full. Showing the algae. I’m going to try and get the system flushed today. I have the extra (Lowe’s) 5 gallon buckets ready to receive the girls. I’m trying to figure out how to convert at least one of them into a ‘stand’ with an open bottom so I can trim roots which I’m sure by now will be necessary for at least some of the girls.
And the reservoir. It’s nearly empty but, I’m showing that there is no algae appearing there . It is just as clear when it’s full as it is nearly empty.
That means the algae is only existing in the bottom of the buckets and the hoses the buckets communicate with. I was thinking I would treat just that area - dose it up with some H020. Since I’m going to do a system flush, the last flush before flipping the girls to Flower (I think), I don’t see a need to do that now.
Make it a great night!

After looking at this…
…and debating how best to cut the bottom portion of the bucket to cradle an inner bucket while I trim roots. The Lowe’s bucket isn’t holding the inner bucket, the rim cut-out lid is.
I cut 3 of the reinforcing ribs off the lid with a sharp hand chisel.
Looking around a materials I have on hand, I grabbed a piece of wood intended to be used as trim to finish weather proofing the windows that was not complete when I moved into the 1924 Schoolhouse. I already sacrificed a couple of them to hold and seal the P&S to the ceiling panels in the grow space.
I sat down on a 5 gallon bucket to estimate a good working height for me (and my back). I opted for 3 foot legs.
This is what my Thought Process Machine devised
I will probably have to fabricate a T brace for the legs. I will probably have to put a bucket of some sort underneath the Tripod Trimmer stand
And, IF I have a need for that lid and a 5 gallon bucket I can just mark the location of each leg and …
Scratch that !
I see I am going to have to make the T brace before I do anything else. It’s ‘a bit’ wonky!
“Scratch that” because I just noticed I can still use that Tripod Trimmer stand sitting on top of a 5 gallon bucket with the legs pointing up!
Yes, my back is killing me but, my neck is giving me fits at the moment. Typically the only thing that remedies that is to lay down. IF it gets worse it’s medication time and not the Green kind, regrettably. It’s bothering me pretty good
STILL, make it a great night!

I added about 10 gallons to the reservoir. pH’d it. It’s sitting at about 6, just to mix up the range. It’s getting flushed so I don’t think it will be a problem.
I added 1-1/2 cup of H020 yesterday to give it several Fill/Drain cycles before I flush it.
I just added 1+ cup of FloraKleen.
I’m going to give it a few Fill/Drain cycles before I flush the system. It just had its first feeding with FloraKleen in the reservoir. I started composing this just prior to the Fill that started at 8pmCT. Let’s see how long it takes to compose (bring in pictures through phone to PC to post).
I’m ready to do the clean up and the trimming of the roots.
The Tripod Trimmer™ is ready. Let’s call this Tripod Trimmer a working prototype.
I don’t know why I would ever need the Tripod Trimmer upside down, but here it is!
All the buckets and cut-out lids I’ll need for the clean up and trimming are ready!
Veg Day 28…
E.C. .6 (300 on 500 scale) - E.C. dropped a bit when I added the 10 gallons of water. After the flush I’ll bump up the nutes in the new batch just prior to flipping to Flower.
pH is at 6.1
Raspberry Cough (This is one of the ones up front that was second to the worst droopy - and still ‘a little’ droopy , but she’s growing)
she’s 23 inches tall
Blueberry (Dutch Passion)
she’s 25 inches tall
Blueberry (Dutch Passion) this one has a limb that is stretching out to the right partially blocking the Tangerine Dream x C99 next to her. I may spin her or ‘try’ to move the Tangerine Dream x C99 that is being partially blocked still trying to figure out a way to get her out into the light - BUT, I did look at the buckets in use and I can put her in a outer bucket not paired to the inner bucket she’s in
Tangerine Dream x C99
Tangerine Dream x C99 (the one I ripped some of its just forming roots out of)
Raspberry Cough (no longer the other super droopy girl)
The Wee Ones - Tangerine Dream x C99
Blueberry (Dutch Passion)
I think I’ll transplant the wee ones into the 5 gallon grow bags I got and keep them in the controlled space that is the Veg space now. I ‘may’ move them outside.
1-1/2 hour to compose this post here and on MPG. 1-1/2 hours hour I could have spent doing something else
Make it a great night!

I took the plants out to trim the roots and clean the outer buckets, just a general cleaning, not a sterilization. That can wait for the system upgrade.
The Tripod Trimmer™ showed its weakness from the very start. It was wonky when I brought it up to the loft before I ever put a plant in it! . With the very first plant it wanted to lean heavily. By the last plant it would have fallen over had I not propped it against the concrete wall!
But, beyond it’s mechanical weakness it showed a design error from the first . While it puts the buckets being trimmed at a great height IF I were sitting on the 5 gallon bucket I intend to use it with, it does not provide enough clearance above it for the larger plants. Luckily I still have an open space in the ceiling panels for the top of the plants to fit in to!
I had to move those 2 boxes there just to be able to move in the remaining space
Also, the 5 gallon bucket I use in the grow space stayed in the grow space. There isn’t enough room for the new arrivals under the T5’s AND 5 5 gallon buckets (empty or full ) and another 5 gallon bucket as a work chair.
I do have a small office chair up there that was there when I moved in. While I jettisoned everything up there - nearly everything, everything but that chair AND a box of Surround Sound speakers. I was hoping to have them in use by now but that hasn’t happened - I kept the chair. It turns out I need it up there. I sure use it A LOT!
Something odd I noticed once a got one of the girls out of their outer bucket. There is noticeably less algae in the buckets with a plant in it than the bucket without a plant in it - even though their on the same circuit, the same 2 bucket pairs in the 6 circuit pairs I was using.
Okay, the oddity…
Taken under Metal Halide. Apologies!
2 outer buckets that had plants in them and BEFORE I cleaned them…
Bucket without a plant in it and was directly connected to the first picture above.
One is clean, the other is algae ridden - yet are directly connected. Odd, to me…
Most of the plants only needed minor trimming. And, there were only a couple of roots that were yucky. Most were whitish - clean and clear.
I’m only going to show a few of the plants in the interest of brevity and I’m stinking tired and hungry!
The label, then the plant, then its roots… This first plant was the yuckiest (the still droopy plant from the front row - the first pictures I’ve been posting).
Then the tall girl. Hardly yucky at all!
She’s shorn now - I don’t like the ‘idea’ of trimming roots. Especially relatively healthy roots as shown above…
So I “thinned” the grow space. Not thinning it the traditional sense (defoliation), but thinning the number of buckets in the space. I removed the 6 unused buckets and reconfigured their Fill/Drain lines. Something I wanted to do when I did the Emergency Flush but just couldn’t get it done then. There are only 6 buckets in the grow space now with the only 6 buckets with plants in them. I removed one of the circuits entirely.
I’ll get pictures of the new configuration before Lights On later today.
I’m going to complete flushing the system later today and then mix up a fresh batch of nutes and increasing its E.C. for the rest of the time they’re in there before I flip them.
And, damn me! I’m missing Spaghetti Sunday! I hope these Garbage Girls appreciate my sacrifices!
Good morning!
Make it a great day!

Good morning to you as well. Your plants are doing a fantastic come back. Expecally the 4th pic. The big bushy Blueberry
Thank you, @LilJonB … she’s a surprising young lady!
Thank you for your help in them getting this far!
all around!

Like those buckets, that Dutch passion Blueberry
I went in the grow space tonight to get a group photo. Guess what I forgot to do when I was in there? I forgot to get the group photo!
Here’s where we’re at tonight…
Veg Day 29…
E.C. .6 (300ppm on 500 scale)
pH 6.2 (getting flushed as soon as I get done here)
A slightly different line-up, still clockwise starting at the 7 O’clock position.
Raspberry Cough (Still a little droopy)
Raspberry Cough (was in the front row at the right of the above plant, the other previously droopy plant.)
Blueberry (Dutch Passion)
Blueberry (Dutch Passion)
Tangerine Dream x C99
Tangerine Dream x C99
The Wee Ones - Tangerine Dream x C99
Blueberry (Dutch Passion)
I am going to transplant the Wee Ones, I just don’t know what in to right now. I was wrestling with ‘wasting’ 2 of my 5 5 gallon grow bags on them. I’m going to check around here and see IF there is any other container I can use instead of the grow bags. I do have to make a trip to town tomorrow. I ‘may’ pick up something then. I want to have the 5 gallon grow bags for any of the more well developed plants to go outside.
I am going to start the system drain and replenishment.
Make it a great night!

Just in time for their 8 O’clock feeding.
Mega Crop Parts A & B - Roughly Late Veg recipe at 1/2 strength.
E.C. .8/1.0 (450ppm on the 500 scale) will bump this up in the coming days
pH 5.8
Part A
Part B
Let’s hear it for the Garbage Girls! Go Girls!

Yea!
Woo woo!
Do bags dry out fast outside? Never used em so I don’t know.
I don’t know either. I do have a rudimentary understanding of how they work exactly. I know I read something about Air-Pruning. Just by definition that would indicate that when roots exit the sides of the bag they die off naturally.
I had originally intended to get the plants growing indoors and then dropping the bag and all in the ground.
In my mind that meant I only have to make 5 gallons of soilless mix for each plant and not an entire garden bed. Also, I don’t know the path of the Sun across this property so I am not entirely sure where I’d like to put them. This does allow mobility.
Thanks,@LilJonB

I did make it to town today.
I got the Stainless Steel hardware I needed for the Cloning Machine II. However, I had to back track about 1-1/2 miles. I nearly forgot the hardware, again! I nearly drove out of town without them, again!
I got 2 containers for the Wee Ones - I don’t know what sizes they are. I thought all of these type items indicated what size they are. I am starting to think they aren’t!
I mixed up the soilless mix I made for uppotting the new arrivals. On a MPG’rs recommendation, I’m going to transplant one of the Wee Ones to straight Perlite, and the other to the soilless mix.
I did not make it back to the schoolhouse in time to get Lights Out group photo - next chance I get I will.

They will work just fine I’m sure. Maybe better. It was always a concern of mine. Bags outside. I like my plants mobile outside as well. You can bring them in and get a steady harvest. Have to be careful of pests tho. Last year I would just bring them in and take them out. Alot of work if you can’t keep up with it tho
