I recorded The Werks at a festival in Arkansas, but it was after his passing. Sorry your buddy wasnā€™t around longerā€¦

Theyā€™re still a fun band! You can stream my audio recording for free here.

What does everybody consider the best Northern Lights out there in seed form?

I have a elite ā€œpineyā€ pheno mother based on old sensi NL #1/#5 and old bcsc NL#5 that seems to have lost something after all these years. Took some clones and currently flowering out the mother plant.

Iā€™m leaning towards some Mr Nice Ortega and PeakSeedsBC gear. Anything else worth trying?

Ak beans has nl1(nl1Ɨnl5), if you can find mel, or her gear she has 89nl5, also sinister seeds on ig has the same 89nl5 but at f8 0r f9 now.:v:t5:

Mel is a dude :joy: Mel Frank, which is a pen name for James Goodwin. Todd Mccormick is doing F2ā€™s of some NL5 straight from Greg McAllister but think preorders just closed the other day for that. AKBB got the same seeds and is working them too. Iā€™m not sure if his NL5 Bx is them or if itā€™s still on the way.

I have a bunch of seeds of nl5haze x Sensi Star from Mel Frank, 2012 open pollination(2nd OP he did) that I ā€œF2ā€™dā€, but these girls run like +/- 80 days.

Thereā€™s actually 2 Melā€™s, Mel Frank (the guy) and Mel from Melvanetics (the chick) with her 89NL#5.

Oooh my bad then. Good call :+1:
Hazeman has/had a Northern Lights F1 over on DCSE, I mightā€™ve picked up the last pack but he labelled it as

a cross of a female picked from IRG old school Northern lights hit with a male from Melā€™s 89 Northern lights #5 stock.

I just know that Mel Frank also offered a 89NL#5 at some point too. I figured hazeman was referring to him, not Melvanetics :thinking:

I ordered a pack of Hazeman NL last month. My question to him was what IRG stood for, I wish I had asked which Mel he was referring to as well, I figured female Mel. I just sent off the question to him, should know soon enough.

BTW, IRG stands for Ice River Genetics

Oh nice! Thanks for doing so and letting me know. Would be super interested on what that IRG means too as I have no idea. My Google-Fu came up with nothing :confused:

And yeah, definitely seems the consensus is that Mel is short for Melvanetics. I guess I was the only one that assumed wrong on that :sweat_smile:

@HolyAngel

IRG = Ice River Genetics

Well that helps quite a bit. Now to see if thereā€™s anything on the net about them :thinking:

@HolyAngel , he said

ā€œthe female mel the one that had buckeye purpleā€

Which was awesome.

Just spoke with IRG on IG about his NL strain that Hazeman used. Apparently itā€™s a mix of NL2 and NL5 varieties and when I asked if itā€™s IBL he said ā€œno, there were some back crosses but mostly just selective breedings. i made selection in favor of plant structure, original flavor and effect and easy growth/management.ā€
