4th run: Hindu Kush & Orange Grove x GG4 RIL

OH. Yes. If you take them too early they are not going to be viable. You still have time to get some more developed dust though before the buds are too far along to develop mature seeds. Right?

Oh ya I got about a week window left and they are both about to drop naturally any day now

I decided to flip my reversed Frankenstein about a week ahead of the one I will be making seeds from. They’ll have their own room. Well, I may take one of my Island Sweet Skunk girls in for a few visits.

Dang you’re doing the reversed stuff?? With that sts or whatever?? Wow you leveled up hardcore!! So that will give you feminized seeds of the same Frankenstein strain, and then the ISS will get pollenated from the reversed? Making a ISSxfrankenstien cross?

Making a fem ISSxfrankenstien cross. Yes I’m using STS.
I got a little pollen from another Frankenstein that I reversed. I used that pollen to make some fem seeds from my Arachnid Pie, Charlotte’s Yesterdream, and a very few beans of a Canna Cheese crossed with Frankie

Dude that’s awesome man!!! I read very little about that process, it’s way out of my league, nowhere near even thinking about doing it. Have you harvested those other seeds already? Or did you just recently do that and they’re baking right now?:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I stole this picture from another grower here, it’s the closest I found that shows what I was explaining. The circled pod is what the ones I plucked looked like. Not fully open yet, and I broke them open and tapped the pollen out onto the pistils. Anyone know if the pollen is still good at this stage?? It makes an easy way to control the pollen that’s for sure! Cuz it doesn’t disperse outward in all directions super fine like one that opens on its own

If you are interested in trying something that I personally haven’t but @JohnnyPotseed showed me a picture of. When he has a branch that has a lot of flowers very near opening, he will cut that branch and put the cutting in a container of water. Then he lets the branch extend over a catch container, or maybe it was just a piece of paper.
Anyway, the branch will live on and the flowers will open and drop their dust on to whatever is under it. The room, obviously, needs to be without air circulation. I plan to try it with this plant that I am reversing. I want to catch enough for another project.

Yup I’ve read that very trick somewhere but I believe it was seamonkey where I read it from. I can’t bring myself to cut the males tho! I just got them in opposite sides of the property and plan to collect the pollen when family leaves. I feel good about what I did and some of the hairs are turning brown so I think it git got did!!

Most definitely awesome!

3 weeks! Idk why but these plants seem to grow faster then any of my other grows. It’s fantastic! And holy cow, Hindu is FROSTY!

Looks like the pollen took and stayed somewhat where I put it considering I didn’t isolate or spritz down, just turned off the fans and luckily happened during a rainstorm so humidity maxed out for a couple days
OGxGG4 RIL…yup. Had to bend them over! They refused to stop growing upward.

Looks like pollen isn’t taking as good on this, just a few hairs changed, waiting for mor pods to open up. Speaking of the OG male…… couldn’t get a good focus, lookie here @Floyd , looks like the multiple bending, hidden in darkness, in the cab, back outside, into the hiding bin, back outside, might have stressed it out! I didn’t think males could stress and go female! I wonder if the seeds from this would be any good hmmm
For fun, the last Blue Cheese. At 8 weeks and looks about ready and family photo for finish

This is a new one on me but I am still new to all this. That, however, looks similar to the Frankenstein that I reversed with STS. I sprayed until it looked like the flowers were opening then I quit spraying. Within a week I saw female pistols developing. That plant grew some of the most beautiful, tight buds but I couldn’t smoke them. lol
Of course yours was a male. Again, I have never heard of a male switching like that. It’s almost like it got some hormones sprayed on it.

Na it’s all natural! I told my buddy about it, he said some dude named DJ Short(an author I gather) said it’s a rare trait and the pollen from these reverse hermies is like gold, and creates solid females with huge oily glands. Just repeating what he told me. Perhaps some others around here could chime in with experience with this strange confused cross dressing cannabis plant:joy::joy:

Very well known cannabis breeder.

Ah… You learn something every day if you pay attention.

Looks like he has a few videos on YouTube, I’ll need to check him out. Usually avoid there for cannabis stuff, half the videos there are unbearable.
“Whazzzuuupppp Yuuuuuuutuuuuuuube!!! Check out this daaaaaannnnnnnkkkkkk!!!(aweful music in the background)
Na, I’m good. I’ll go to Overgrow instead lol

So I got a question… being I have both males alive still of both strains, for fun I put Hindu Kush pollen on a small bud on the female OGXGG4. Would it be doing the exact same to put OGxGG4 pollen on the HK female?? I wana say I read somewhere that the genetics are carried through just the female? Would there be a significant difference to cross both females? Or would all the seeds basically be the same from both plants being both strains got crossed with the same 2 strains?? I hope I worded this good enough, boy my head hurts after that one

No expert, just a chucker. But just for example Greenpoint has or had a male Star dawg that they were crossing with all kinds of well known strains. They were using it for a reason. I’ve grown some of their strains and it always comes through in the crosses in my experience.
Dont want to start a Greenpoint thing. Just thought it might be of interest

Also someone posted a pic of a male they were using for breeding recently that was crazy frosty.

I don’t know much in that arena but the way I would look at it is that it would be the same genetics but there would be a wide variety possible that first generation of the crosses. Both the male and the female contribute (I would bet money on that if I was a betting man).
