50° North Outdoor 2023, which cultivar to grow?

at 50 degrees north, for something you can be assured will give a good harvest you need some semi autos and autos. I find this is because while your season may end mid october, the weather isnt that great past early september even in a good year. you want something done by august or early september, when the weather is still good and we get good sun intensity.

Yeah, I guess that is something I probably have to accept that after Mid-September there is not a lot of ripening going on. The thing I’m asking is if a dried and cured flower from an early September Auto can compete in quality with a longer flowering Photo (that has gone to completion). Or do growers at 50° north have to live with a lower quality Product.

In my mental definition, semi autos are plants that can initiate flowering over minor changes in conditions and will not reveg once its flowering stage has begun.

Thanks for the clarification a lot of talk about semi-autos going on without a clear definition.

In Canada’s outdoor scene there are a few different strains that you could keep a mom of, and just take clones that would go into flowering outside.

autos can be great now, big yielding and decent smoke in the right families. I think that you should consider getting a few packs of a good auto strain, do a seed run and just grow the offspring from seed.

I was planing on producing some auto fem seeds with STS, but running regular Autos might be the safer bet. Havent gone to your thread:

I have been growing outdoors in alberta for some time now and have mixed experiences and tests. Typically i have used photoperiods and a greenhouse of some sort, where i can take the plants and put them indoors at 7 and take them out at 7 in the morning. Standard light dep stuff.
