Thanks, it was touch and go for a bit. I was already one foot into plan B by the time I got them to sprout. They just had extremely thick hulls and needed a bit of help.
Afghani Lowland
6 days into drying. Knocked the buds off of the stems to finish for trimming tomorrow.
Still super impressed with this plant. Nice, resinous nugs with a delicate pine/lemon/perfume smell. Quite intoxicating. The seeds are massive and beautiful, like little brown watermelons.
Will post a few more pics tomorrow after the trim.
Free seeds to testers!
This is a mostly Afghani cross: 50% Pure Lowland Afghani (Kandahar/Helmand), 25% Afghani from the Kush region and 25% Pre98 Bubba Kush. If you’re interesting in testing this cross Afghani Lowland x Dakini Kush (probably), then let me know. However, please be able to run these on your next grow and post some pictures in a grow log.
This cross might yield some primo keeper plants. A pheno that combines the yield and smell of the lowland with gorgeous plump, high bag appeal nugs and potency of the Dakini (Afghani/Hindu Kush x Pre98 Bubba) is what I’ll be looking for out of this cross. Seeds will be feminized – but I’ll produce regs if I decide to take this cross forward.
You did a phenomenal job as well. Enjoyed watching your plants blossom. You can sign me up for sure.
Black Domina
Still finishing up at about the same rate as the other BDs I have. Getting some orange pistils filling in. I’ll check it with the loupe this weekend.
Round 2 Plants
They’re just humming right along, happy and healthy…
I’m way backlogged but they sound fun for sure!
@lefthandseeds enjoy watching you test all these different lines, I have quite a few Afghan genetics myself, I have some sourced during desert storm that I call desert storm that are a mix of the highland and lowland landraces bes fut the best qualities of each the two varieties, did you by chance make more pure deep chunk ? Trades ? Happy progress either way
I didn’t make any extra DC. I only popped 3 seeds and ended up with 3 fems.
I still have several more though, and I’ll make some whenever I run them.
I will be making extra black Afghani seeds this run.
That would be awesome deep chunk is a great strain to keep around, like seeing the variety I love and collect land race genetics myself
Black Domina Final
Nice spicy pepper smell coming off of this one. Probably not too many seeds, since I didn’t heavily pollinate. Looking forward to the smoke.
Cleaned the shit out of my tents to prepare for the next round.
Transplanted 10 of the new breed. Left to right: blue hemp leb, black leb, cherry queen and black afghani.
Flower Day 1
Cherry Queen
Black Lebanon
Group
Daylight savings seems like a good day to start flowering. My plants are probably confused about where their weekend went, and a little tired and cranky today.
Other than the oldest transplants being a pretty hungry, everybody seems happy. I’m in the middle of that balancing act where the roots haven’t filled the pots enough for me to feed every day, yet they want to rocket off and throw a new node every day.
Everything’s looking great, that black domina came out beautifully. I hate daylight savings too haha
I patrolled in many a field in the Helmund/Kandahar border area. Zhari had tons of sensi gardens. I was blown away.
Thanks for service sir
Ever try any of the local product? If so how was it?
I bet you saw lots of opium fields too?
At this point, I’m a week into flower. Both the Black Lebanese and Blue Hemp Lebanese are showing sex super quickly. Unfortunately, of the 3 Blue Hemp Lebs showing sex, all are fems. I was hoping for males…
All of the Black Lebanon plants show broad leaves, while some of the Blue Hemps are showing narrower leaves. Still waiting to sex the Afghanis. The Cherry Queen from @bodhi is doing really well. Seems easy to grow and tolerant. I like easy to grow. I like plants that make me look good.
One or two of the black afghanis look pretty good too. Hopefully in the next week, I can start finding males and moving them out into my other tent. I need to make room pretty soon, but I’m not ready to make selections yet. I’m certain that I’m going to be female-heavy, and probably forced to cull some good plants. Or perhaps I’ll convince @8k_feet to take some.
I would have liked to, but in the combat zone it is a no go.
I did see a ton of poppy fields as well.
This is a peek at where the males are. The black afghani in back is praying hard . The afghani plant in front of it is also a beauty (Cherry Queen). One of these is a black afghani female that I need to swap back over to the fem tent.
The blue hemp lebs are really shooting off. Those are by far the tallest in the tent. Larger internodes than the black lebs. First supercrop on those today. They’re a little thirsty (which is why the bigger ones are drooping a bit), but I gave them a TM-7 foliar (probably the last one) to hold them over until I start daily feeds in the morning.
The second picture is all of the males. Well one of the Black Afghanis is also a female that I misjudged. I’m going to have to cull some female plants soon. I think the LA Confidentials are going to be the first to go, and at least 1 of the blue hemp lebs. I need to make some decisions and get my Female tent down to 8. I’m thinking 2 each of the Lebanese and Afghani (Blue hemp Leb, Black Leb, Black Afghani and Cherry Queen). I’ll probably ditch the LA Confidential females and keep the male for pollen.
I have a 2nd wave of plants started up. I’ve sprouted several of my Black Domina x Dakini Kush and Afghani Lowland x Dakini Kush indicas. I’m hooked on the Black Domina right now, and I only got females because I reversed the Dakini Kush (Hindu Kush x Pre98 Bubba).
So I’m going to take it a bit farther and cross it to pollen from the other afghanis I’m currently running. Then I’m probably do something like (Black Afghani x (Black Domina x Dakini Kush)) x (Cherry Queen x (Black Domina x Dakini Kush))
What I think is going to happen is that I’ll effectively get 2 generations of high phenotype variations when I line breed it – thus allowing me to do a lot of selection. I’m hoping that by spreading it out, I can more easily pick the parts of each plant that I want to see. It’ll take longer than a double cross like this (Black Afghani x Cherry Queen) x (Black Domina x Dakini Kush)… but my hope is that I can better pick and choose the traits I want.
Thanks again for all the work & generosity with the Jungle Spice F2.
For sure my dude! I hope it brings you great
