What is Grease Stain? Any information? Any pictures? @tc198414
I have some royal kush crosses that all look like this, all of them were great smokes.
not true.
bubba has been around. the purple coffee type
pre98 has been around for decades.
perhaps you also remember mint bubba also early 2000s.
bubba is a gene pool. that is a fact.
yea i got a thread on it, once second and ill post a link to it and my youtube https://youtu.be/U5fxAMadXTg?si=xZK_FUWzCcGH7ay2
Grease Stain
i think you might have misread his comment. he said his cut has been with him and his friend for 18 years. im sure its been around a while longer no doubt. So many original bubbas pre 98s, everyone has different phenos…
I wish one could sample the various cuts side by side to compare , growing methods and can cause slight changes in expression, I agree there was one bubba kush back in the day then came the katsu, mint, and purple cuts but that’s was a few years after the first one I saw and grew came around and then disappeared, I’ve always assumed most were s1s , the first cut I grew wouldn’t grow balls but would certainly produce tons of bananas if stressed by light and heat when others didn’t.
The one @Shoreline posted and the one csi posted could be the same just slightly different based on environment , I see similarities and pictures aren’t the best comparison method.
Also very few people had actually heard of let alone were growing bubba kush and og during the 2002 -2005 timeframe but so many seem to have a cut they have been holding onto sense then.
I dont have the cut that we grew back in 2002-2005, but it produced reddish buds… not green, not purple… red and hairy
The main grower of that Bubba Kush cut ended up passing away during a knee surgery and I haven’t seen that pheno since then.
I really l Iike my FJ ‘original’ cut, the one you have, and sadly just lost my pre-98 during winter vacation I won’t trip though, to me the Original has consistently been stronger and higher yielding.
Here is his grow:
Is this what CSI made his S1s From?
Looks way different than the pre98 from katsu I grew out.
I can’t wait to test these out.
Appreciate you
the pre98 is probably an s1/s2 of the cut CSI reverses
I miss read your post ,that’s what I was thinking
I might have got that wrong.
Looks like katsu works with the pre98 and katsu bubba and the original.
@Heritagefarms is correct , the CSI cut is the same cut I posted.
The CSI pics are the same cut just further along in flower.
Heritage farms is familiar with the cut to recognize that.
Just found some good 2015 grow logs of CSI and ORGNKID Katsu S1 Bubbas if anyone wants to dig in here:
Been just under a month since I showed my small Matt Berger Bubba Kush clone.
So here she is now. That’s her on the left in front.
If that is true then it would explain why The Pre-98 cut breeds and selfs so well… because an S1, having been essentially inbred for a generation, would be significantly more likely to breed true for any of its traits than its parent.
But, reading the stories from more recent years, that would make the Bubba 93 / Berger cut an F1 hybrid? (bubba x kush - ive never read about it being further worked/inbred ?) - and that would mean there was likely to be some segregation when it was selfed or crossed… and i have never heard of people talking about getting the ‘bubba pheno’ or ‘kush pheno’ when growing S1s of that cut from CSI or wherever else. THAT is the bit of the story that doesn’t quite add up for me.

Looks spot on and nicely grown.
enjoy
