Car Repair the stoner way LOL Ask a question maybe we can help each other

Here’s one of the better ones to come through the shop. I forget what the issue was but once we lifted it and saw that we kicked it out of the shop “he was hoping we wouldn’t notice it”

Ha
It could have been worse, could be rusty old bailing wire holding it up.
The Tie downs are at least pretty strong.
But shit a set of tank straps are probably cheaper to buy.
The guy should have sprayed painted them with undercoat before bringing it into the shop.
LOL

heard a story about a mechanic in b.c. that had a truck in for a front brake job .
took the front wheels off and found that the guy had made wooden brake pads
on a saw and used them to get to town to get new ones.any port in a storm i guess!

Ingenuity I would say
I could see the wooden pads in my mind and do believe as long as you did not hit or loc the brakes down they worked.
Well enough to get the real ones to do it correctly.
that is a 1st for me too …LOL
I have seen guys do this when no spare or it’s flat also

OK thread has been down for a while here and now I have a question for AC repairman in auto.
My refrig is 134a in my 2002 chevy but no cool.
I have tried to recharge with a can from auto parts store but not good, last time I had a friend (mechanic ) he balanced the high and low pressure and AC worked great until truck sat for a few months.
I have since tried to add a can of R134a and no cool once again
Question
I have a set of HVAC pressure gauges and Vacuum pump on order
Can anyone tell me step by step or how to add the coolant ?
I know how to connect the High Low and oil line to AC system, just need to be told how to do it right, any HVAC People here?
@Grease_Monkey LOL
Thanks Much

If you have ramps, bring it up and knock on the catalytic converter…the waffle/honeycomb inside may have deteriorated… this affects exhaust which affects combustion. Do you have a reader? Best $40 I’ve ever spent.

My AC is buggered completely, recharge wont hold, nothing…heat works…so theres a plus.
Anxiously awaiting a response to this.

My buddy has had problems with his. The tyranny was slipping, he had it in many times. They made sure the software was updated, but never got it fixed. He eventually got a newer one. I think there may have been one other issued with it as well.

Honestly… dont piss with the canned crap. In canada (my area atleast) its like 120 bucks for a pressure test and fill.

If you’ve got leaks you’re litterally just pissing in the wind and will recharge every volume months.

And to use the crap cans properly you need to vac the system out 100% to remove left overs. But that stuff will never cool like the proper stuff

The system seems to have good pressure , I bleed the high port a bit just to see, and it was strong release.
Maybe the compressor clutch went or accumulator switch
I jumped the relay with wire and compressor came on.

I ordered a guage set today along with a Vac pump
So I can vac the system out then have it filled.

What is the best way to find leaks? I can pretty much don’t all on our vehicles, but I need to learn more about the ac system.

Can I not get the “proper” stuff at all.

You technically need a licence for the proper stuff… but theres always shadey sellers on Ebay. I dont really do AC. I got my ticket about 10 years ago but never been in a shop with gear to use it. Typically there is UV dye in the oil and you can see it with the glasses and UV flashlight.

@stiggy does the compressor turn on like it should ever? Or just when you hard wire it?

Depending how much moisture is in the system you may have to run the pump anywhere from 10 minutes to 2 days lol (and I dont know how to tell when it’s done lol)
