I know. And the sound on those live recordings is usually just so bad. Or it is on the ones I’ve heard, anyway. Which, again, is weird, because I used to have some live Eugene Chadbourne tapes where the sound was AWFUL, you could hear people talking during the songs and beer bottles falling on the floor and shit, but I still really liked those tapes and listened to them all the time.
I’ll check out that Dead stuff. There’s a lot of live stuff on spotify, probably listen to it on that instead of YouTube. I don’t wanna listen to anything through crappy iPad speakers haha.
Haha, I guess. I mean, for me personally, the songs are all written already, every part, all I need is for you to come over and play what I tell you to play haha! It’s always been like that, where I’ve already written every part, the songs are done. “Your input is not necessary.”
Is that bad? Haha! I think that might be bad… It is kind of curious how so many people are like,”Yeah, I play guitar,” or whatever and then when you ask them to play one of their songs, they just start fucking around haha. Or they start playing one of their “songs” and it’s just not good at all.
The last time I played with somebody, which was like ten years ago, this dude had gone to, like, the Hollywood Guitar College or something, like a legit music school where all they did was study and play music. So I started playing one of my songs that was in 12/8; he listened (or I thought he’d listened, anyway) for a bit and then joined in and was playing in 4/4. At first I thought maybe he was doing something, like, I dunno, interesting or something. Something weird. Like maybe he was adding something to it that I hadn’t ever considered before. But then I realized that he wasn’t even listening haha and I had to be like,”Dude… Dude… DUDE! Stop. This song’s 12/8; you’re playing 4/4.” And he was like,”Ohhhh… Yeah, okay, I see.”
Anyway… Yeah, I dunno haha. I just wondered, like,”This motherfucker went to Guitar College?”
