Doc D Chocolate Blitz; Freeborn Yesca x Jaro f3; Relic/Professor P/Dynasty Grapefruit f3; and (1) Bodhi Hasplant D

I know. And the sound on those live recordings is usually just so bad. Or it is on the ones I’ve heard, anyway. Which, again, is weird, because I used to have some live Eugene Chadbourne tapes where the sound was AWFUL, you could hear people talking during the songs and beer bottles falling on the floor and shit, but I still really liked those tapes and listened to them all the time.

I’ll check out that Dead stuff. There’s a lot of live stuff on spotify, probably listen to it on that instead of YouTube. I don’t wanna listen to anything through crappy iPad speakers haha.

Haha, I guess. I mean, for me personally, the songs are all written already, every part, all I need is for you to come over and play what I tell you to play haha! It’s always been like that, where I’ve already written every part, the songs are done. “Your input is not necessary.”

Is that bad? Haha! I think that might be bad… It is kind of curious how so many people are like,”Yeah, I play guitar,” or whatever and then when you ask them to play one of their songs, they just start fucking around haha. Or they start playing one of their “songs” and it’s just not good at all.

The last time I played with somebody, which was like ten years ago, this dude had gone to, like, the Hollywood Guitar College or something, like a legit music school where all they did was study and play music. So I started playing one of my songs that was in 12/8; he listened (or I thought he’d listened, anyway) for a bit and then joined in and was playing in 4/4. At first I thought maybe he was doing something, like, I dunno, interesting or something. Something weird. Like maybe he was adding something to it that I hadn’t ever considered before. But then I realized that he wasn’t even listening haha and I had to be like,”Dude… Dude… DUDE! Stop. This song’s 12/8; you’re playing 4/4.” And he was like,”Ohhhh… Yeah, okay, I see.”

Anyway… Yeah, I dunno haha. I just wondered, like,”This motherfucker went to Guitar College?”

Hey @minitiger , there’s some great Doc D seed packs being auctioned here for kids w cancer.
Including that Purple Corinto Budder x DE
that you grew, and Metal Haze x DE.

I’m good on seeds; I have seven dollars in the bank right now, with no way of increasing that amount for the foreseeable future. And if I ever wanna get money to St. Jude’s, I’ll just donate directly to them.

Sounds like a good cause, though! Hope that auction turns out well.

The other thing about that, too, though, is wouldn’t that be the best way to appreciate the live shows? To familiarize yourself with their songs before you can know what’s different about the live versions? It seems to me that you’d have to have at least a passing knowledge of their studio output to understand why what they do live, the way they alter their songs, is so mind-blowing.

I mean, personally, I really appreciate it when bands rearrange their songs and change them in a live setting. That’s actually ALWAYS my main complaint whenever I see bands live, is that they’re just playing the songs the same way they were recorded on their albums. If it was me, I’d do totally reworked versions of everything once I hit the road.

But that’s just me… haha.

Not with the dead. Their best music is live, and I personally think their studio albums suck. Just like you alluded to. All or most of those summer 72 recordings are high quality soundboard recordings. I highly recommend them rather than the studio albums - there’s such a difference between the two that, in many cases, shitty studio recordings are INCREDIBLE live because of the different spin they put on each song at each performance.

:zap:

Okay, I’ll check out those ‘72 shows. There’s a “Europe ‘72” 50th Anniversary addition on spotify, have you heard that one? There’s also a “Veneta OR 08/27/72: The Complete Sunshine Daydream Concert” on there which is what I’ll probably start with, for obvious reasons  haha.

8/27/72 is one of my favorite shows of all time!! The last acid test! The perfect mix of primal dead and country twang. Grateful Dead music is just Country for people who like psychedelics.

Haha, well, I like country music (good, old-school outlaw country, anyway) and I like psychedelics, so… I’ll check those shows out, I just need to wait until I get out of my current headspace. Right now all I wanna listen to is Part Chimp, I’ve been listening to them for a week straight, don’t wanna listen to anything else. I can’t go straight from them to the Dead haha.

Just as an aside, I’ve loved Part Chimp for years, but they’re one of the few bands that I never, ever really tried to find info about. Which is weird, because I ALWAYS research the fuck out of anything I like, always try to know as much as I can about whatever it is, whether it’s music or weed or beer or whatever. But I kind of liked maintaining a little mystery when it came to Part Chimp, I dunno why. I knew they were from England and that’s all I knew.

Anyway, I was donating plasma the other day (yeah, I’m that broke right now haha) and forgot to bring my earbuds, so I read several interviews with the main guy and was like,”I think… I think I… I think I may have just found my soulmate…” haha! Very rarely am I like,”Yes, I agree with all of that,”, but reading those interviews, I was like,”This guy sounds exactly like me.” At one point he even mentioned how much he hates the phrase,”It is what it is.” I was like,”Dude! You just wrote that on your grow log like five days ago!” haha. Made me wanna move to England and join Part Chimp, even though I don’t write music in that vein at all.

Anyway, yeah, I’ll check out those Dead shows soon.

You ever listen to Hank Williams III (I like the album Lovesick, Broke, and Driftin’ the most) or anything from Wayne “The Train” Hancock? Haven’t listened to either in quite a few years but they are two that have that “outlaw” feel and actually recorded music in the last 30 years.

I’ve heard some Hank Williams III stuff, but I don’t actually put it on myself; never heard any Wayne Hancock, but I’ll try to check him out. I’m more of a Willie/Waylon fan, seen Willie live a few times, actually.

Does anybody know what the deal with that “404 Not Found” message is when you search for overgrow.com? It’s been happening for the last ten days, I don’t get it. I have to search “mintiger overgrow” and then click on one of the links and then go to the home page and log in that way. Really weird…

Anyway, here are some flower day 35 pics:

Chocolate Blitz #2:

Chocolate Blitz #4:

I plucked a few things off of the #4 plant a few days back. I dunno if they were nanners or what, they just looked weird to me haha, so I removed them. I’m just being super-cautious at this point. I did think that I saw a little pollen escape from one of the things that I plucked, but that coulda been all in my head, I dunno.

Yesca x Jaro #3:

And the Yesca x Jaro #5:

I had to stake and tie the #3 a few days ago, she was getting ready to fall over right at the base, probably because of a weak root system. I remember that a few of those Yesca x Jaro plants had very undeveloped roots when I transplanted them from the starter pots into the half-gallon veg containers, but I can’t remember if the #3 plant was one of them. I guess she probably was, though.

Also, neither of those plants’ flowers are super-frosty or anything. I mean, it’s early, but compared to the trichome development on some of the other ones, the two Yesca x Jaros are lacking. But that’s alright. I remember the Sky Cuddler’s flowers also weren’t caked or anything, but that smoke still turned out very, very good, so…

Here’s the Grapefruit f3 #2:

Gawd, that plant is irritating… haha.

And the Grapefruit f3 #3:

As much as I dislike the #2 Grapefruit, I like the #3 one. She’s probably my second-favorite plant in the tent right now, after the Hashplant D. The Chocolate Blitzes would probably be my favorites (they’re extremely sticky and stinky) if I wasn’t so worried about them throwing nanners/sacs.

Anyway, here’s the Hashplant D:

Llllllot of brown pistils on her and on most every other plant, too, its making me pretty nervous. But I guess it’s too late to worry about it now…

Forgot the “whole tent” shot again…

Nice, looking good in there! Really a pretty stark contrast between the two Grapefruits, haha, but yeah, #3 is looking like a nice plant. Most of your plants seem to be stacking really well too and that Hashplant D is just a bush!

Wonder if the grapefruit #2 is the “sour grapefruit” leaner and the #3 is the “sweet pink grapefruit” leaner

I like the way Graprfruit #3 looks, too. Grew out a very similar looking Positronics for a couple of years, very sour, and pain relieving. Had the right CBD to THC ratio for me. Kilt it in a mite related incident. Sprayed straight DynaGro on it instead of Mighty Wash, d’oh :frowning: At least it was a quick execution.

Yeah, possibly. Or vice versa? Any particular reason you think the #2 is the Sour Grapefruit leaner?

I haven’t read too much about these Grapefruit f3’s or Sweet Pink Grapefruit or anything. There used to be a really, really good thread about SWP on icmag, read it years ago before I even started growing, looked for it when I planted those Grapefruit seeds but I couldn’t find it.

Shoot, man, that blows… haha.

I’m constantly out of likes lately…

I think the #2 is the sour leaner as the Sour Grapefruit in the line is the sweet pink grapefruit crossed to the ECSD, and its all foxtaily and leafy looking like how a sour might. The #3 looks a lot more solid and a lot closer to all the sweet pink grapefruit and sweet tooth I’ve seen in the past. I’m sure there’s a chance for terpenes to be swapped down there in the F3’s, but visually… that’s my thought ^^

Ahhh, okay, I didn’t even know that the Sour Grapefruit was an ECSD cross, thought it was just a really sour-tasting pheno of Grapefruit; not like, “Sour Diesel-tasting,” just sour, like a grapefruit haha. But that’s kind of exciting to know! Maybe I’ll start showing her a little more love now… haha.

I agree. I haven’t blazed any Sweet Tooth in a long, long time, but I always liked that one, enough to read an extremely long thread about it on icmag before I had even started growing haha.

I remember that SOTF guy was obsessed with either SWT #3 or #4 and definitely did a good job of hyping it up haha. Was one of the earlier users of LED lighting via Lumigrow also. Never got to try it but it always looked really cool with all the colors on Marc Emery’s seedbank. I think I read somewhere that guy ended up having a ton of problems related to sending seeds to rez… Sucks.

Sweet tooth 3 and 4 both were damn good but, a bit over hyped imo. Nothing id personally keep around but was nice growing it and smoking it for awhile. Just that sweetness got old quick. Kinda like how cheese does when you have it for awhile. Just need something else.
