I figure there’s wicked fire in the spring/fall boxes so may as well roll with it
Oh how about the reasonably priced and reputable breeders like prof p ,sannie , santero , dreg corra and a few more
Sannies seeds his own strains and naw as well as breeders choice are all reasonably priced and great quality
Sannies jack is still the strongest weed I’ve ever smoked and only 58 $ a pack
And sugar punch as well as his herijuana still the best prices around
Also Seedheaven wow there’s some great strains and for so much less then the majority of the seed banks
Off track sorry
Paps
That’s not $800 for 3.125 pounds, that’s $800 for a small amount of seeds. The rest of the money you must spend for lights, hydro, time and space you must provide is missing from that equation. Hey if folks what to feed into a market that tries it’s best to gouge folks that’s totally up to them but its amazing the bullshit hype that can drive prices up on total crap out there.
We did a pile of group buys of many expensive packs and found many with hermie issues and piss poor germ rates. Watching $80 go down the toilet each time an over priced bean does not pop is hard to deal with. Why do those $800 packs sell out in minutes? The same reason you see people lined up over night on a sidewalk just so they can get the new Iphone a week earlier than everyone else. Most times, so folks can brag about having it and how much they paid.
While it’s true folks can charge anything they want because someone is willing to pay it I just feel they are way to proud of their shit and take advantage of folks which is contrary to how I was raised. Hey, it’s just my opinion. I am more than happy with the BOG genetics I am smoking and after over 35 years of smoking this plant I am pretty confident when I say I know good and bad smoke. To each their own though. While I feel it foolish to pay those kind of prices that only means foolish for me. People are free to throw down their hard earned cash anyplace they want.
The last time I spent $800 on cannabis was to build an entire tent so I can grow indefinite amounts.
People are crazy. Thumbtack for sale. $800. Once touched by famous person.
Who makes these $800 packs that sell out in minutes exactly?
Trying to justify seed prices being expensive because the customer might grow them out and sell the herb, clones, or even resell the expensive seeds, seems like a shitty thing to expect of customers. Even worse if it’s to “cut down on the rift rafts who only want to copy their work”
I do kernel development and I’m all about authorship(credit) and more importantly, open-source.
Like either the breeder wants to get the plant/strain out there or they don’t. People gonna copy no matter what so once its out, its out. No putting the rabbit back into the hat. Either you wanna share to benefit the plant and/or people that use it, or you don’t.
That’s how you get these guys that will s1 their own cut and make beans with the s1 instead and call the line the same thing as if they used their clone. “To protect their work”. And then wonder why people report a ton of hermies. THAT’s what’s been destroying the scene imo. Not people wanting cheaper beans.
Breeders that charge such amounts is 210% marketing drivel. FFS, these same folk barely can provide progeny history, photos, and other useful information. Instead, blueberry banana ice cream flambé. Exclusive, limited.
I’m all about folk being about to make a profitable living but such folk are preying on the ill-informed by creating a marketing illusion of exclusivity.
Technically I think all the seeds really belong to the holy Roman empire . They conquered the world and had large Marijuana breeding programs…so the dudes selling the $800 packs might have some explaining to do someday or something. Haha
I think there’s a passage where the seed vendors table’s get upended in the temple but I might be confused.
It’s money changers…crypto type shit. I hope it wasn’t seed vendors…
Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I don’t make any money from anyone else’s seed sales, so it doesn’t bother me where you get your gear or what you pay for it.
If there wasn’t a market for high priced seeds, they wouldn’t still be offered.
It’s not my business that every time someone sells seeds for an exorbitant price, here come the crusaders casting doubt and talking about what they wouldn’t pay for seeds. Hell most want pay anything at all. But still I don’t have any problem with that.
I just want to know why do so many people have a problem with someone getting paid for their work. I look at that shit like it jealousy or hatred.
I can’t see any other reason for a mofo to be fux up about something that has nothing to do with them.
We call call that “crackhead shit” where I come from. That’s because those are the only mofo running around with their mouth on other peoples business. To each his her own,
I once saw 2 brothers draw guns on each other over a nickel weed sale. I quit fuxking with both of them.
I look at those crusades against people who are getting paid for their gear, the same way I looked at those 2 brothers fighting. Family, Yeah ok.
I also really like seedheaven this is at least still affordable for small home growers. I only grow for me and my wife. can’t afford expensive seeds. no matter how much I want it.
I think seeds should be more expensive than they are across the board. I base this strictly on the fact that you have some one that at the very least has invested in some lights, tents, nutes, water electric, and at least 4 months of their life. If you’re working genetics, you could have years tied up in a project. I’m not spending years on some shit to sell for cheap to a niche market (cannabis).
Ok if you’re charging premium prices there needs to be germination and shipping garrantees like the big seedbanks do.
@HolyAngel we all have our own opinions kinfolk.
How you think and feel don’t have a damn thing to do with me.
When it comes to putting my work out, that’s where you are quite confused. That’s because I put my work where it count$.
As you and many other have said numerous times about how you feel. I get it… you are always in your feeling about something. Nothing new to see there.
So let’s get an understanding about how I feel so maybe you will save those keystrokes for someone who cares. And that is any of you “that got them feelings.”
My feeling is “why would I waste time on your concerns and opinions when they offer no benefits to me?”
You would have to think really “high and mighty” of yourself if you really “feel that way.”
I don’t look at this community as a place to prey, “pray” on those who don’t know any better.
We all know price don’t automatically make for good beans. The same way we know that neither does talk. We all have things that we are doing and it doesn’t make it any more important than what anyone else is doing. Why… that’s because the “proof is in the pudding.” That’s country boy for roll that shit up and let’s see what it do.
But anyway, there are too many that sit around and discourage other from creating or seeking their “holy grail”. Hopefully it went take them 35 years to complete their mission.
Anyway brother, enough small talk. Do you have a link to your kernel work because I would like to read it. Also how about putting some of those seeds in my hand that you developed through that research. It will be awesome to see what progress you have made. As well as the benefits of your research. I’m just putting it out there.
I’ve already given out a ton of beans here. NL5Haze/SensiStar, FLC x NL5HSS, and SSDD F2 BX1. I can’t say I’ve made a ton of progress, I’m barely into it. There’s promise in some of those though.
I really, personally, do not care what people sell their beans for. I’ll buy what I wanna buy for whatever I’m willing to justify it for.
I’m just saying I don’t see anyone “putting in work” on any of these expensive packs. Most all I can find are pollen chucks to “elite’s” with at best, unknown males with no lineage/pics/history, nothing to go with it. I’m good on that pheno hunt.
If you know of someone that DOES put in actual work, and gives history, and still charges exorbitant prices, I and I’m sure others would be interested in knowing who that is so that we may do some of our own research.
That make sense to me brother. I don’t do kernels research as suppose to Linux. But I do know where to gather any network and security protocol that I need. Besides, it’s help to know the right people.
When you mentioned kernels, since we are talking about cannabis, I assumed you where referring to germ research as those done with soy bean, corn, wheat and cotton. I read too much.
Brother I see og’ers doing the same one time breedings and passing those poly hacks own to the next guy. Most of the time they don’t even grow that stuff out themselves. I know the mentality, why waste time when some fool will do it for you. And if he find something, hopefully he will send you a clone or some beans of the cross. I get it bro.i see how those unsuspecting growers are treated. Hell they don’t know any better, plus they are getting free/cheap beans.
Seems like a helluva marketing strategy. It truly saves on research and development by letting someone else do it for you. Hey it is what it is. I’m just surprised that no one else is paying attention to it. And just like the marketing of the elites, it works.
Sure, anyone can attempt to sell folk packs of seeds for 800 dollars. And, folk are free to give it the hearty chuckle. Also, we are free to let them know that they have a number of other options.
Yet, out comes the jealous crusader none of your business crackhead hater rhetoric. And, no less, on a site where seeds tend to flow like sand from an hourglass.
Frankly, the community overall has been fairly decent at helping to avoid interfering with breeders income streams by making an effort to avoid duplicating current works that they may be involved with. If the ‘new’ idea is to price their genetics such that they become practically unaffordable, then perhaps such thinking will continue to evolve. If that were to happen, really no one to blame but themselves.
The business model is changing. Legalization is expanding, the stigma and risk is decreasing. Consumer awareness is increasing, people are learning how to grow. Folk that have their sh.t together will be entering to compete in the market place. Tactics such shaming and marketing seeds by primarily posting instagram memes and nothing else will be relegated to a side show. Only the few are going to play the gansta culture games and black market street corner Rolex watches. This will evolve with time.
Are they ready for it? Will their business survive? Will they be able to compete against well funded entities? Will they sell their brand to them? Are they going to prove business value through a meme portfolio, golden grills, and unknown genetic lines?
Imagine:
Even the government only charges $15 a fem.
The government. That has a monopoly. That can charge whatever they think the market will bear.
Very interesting topic
but… all those strains are mids with bland run-of-the-mill highs and only have flavor and bag appeal at best. I wouldn’t pay any amount of money for GSC/SS/Runtz/etc…
Surely there’s some better lines actually being bred than cookies…
