Can you explain this to me.
I’m looking for super stable strains I can hit with pollen. FDM is great because most of his genetics are later generation and super stable. I was curious about the smells since he mentioned banana plants and I was thinking that might pair well with these two blue strain dads. We’ll see though
I was wondering myself.
Ortega Mix, any smells yet?
No, other than just a generic weedy smell so far.
Can you explain this to me.
Sorry for my silly, clumsy phrasing, what I meant was that I started flowering on Feb 1,
So 14 days of flowering yesterday.

People have already added it into their growing regiment, lol,
I thought I was going to learn something new .
I had to make a command decision regarding my lack of room in my 2x4 tent for 6 flowering plants. One of the two C-99 girls was developing flowers which were very sativa in structure…sparse and feathery, this is indicative of a longer flowering time required for them to reach the desired ripeness. Considering that I have a strict deadline for this crop ‘till only the first week of April, I decided that I would kill the longer flowering C-99, and free up sufficient space in the tent for the remaining 5 plants.
The one in the upper portion is the plant I eliminated a couple days ago.

These are from today at 21 days of flowering

28 days of flowering.
The C-99 seems a little more sensitive to my feeding regimen. She is the only one displaying slightly burnt tips, all of the plants are receiving the same dosage of fertilizer.

I will post shots of the others shortly
I experienced that too this last grow, that as hungry as Cindy was, her hybrid was even more so, I ended up feeding the Cindy Mix a lot of extra times because it was looking like it was held back.
Also, I want to say that my OG Mixes cured up incredibly well, and the lemon #1 especially has become incredibly complex and dank, just lemon OG soulful stank. I can recommend these mixes now having tried the OG and Cinderella and gotten potent, tasty, interesting plants from both that displayed serious F1 vigor compared to most of their tentmates. Cindy Mix was the beast of that grow and came out spicy and strong, I’m thinking a Thai influence since there’s a similar note to the Smart Move I grew at the same time from Bodhi with the Genius Thai mom in it. The OG mixes were solid growers and decent yielders out of seven gallons of dirt, but I think I could have pushed a lot more out of them with extra sulfur and the compost teas I’ve been using last grow.
I also found some really nice plants in my Cindy Mix, this compelled me to try his other
offerings, and of course, it made me want to give the FDM C-99s a whirl.
Can’t wait to hear a smoke report on the Ortega. FDM was kind enough to send me those as a freebie when I picked up the OG and Bubblegum mix packs. Your garden looks terrific!
@Calyxander Is the “ortega mix” that you’re growing different than just the “ortega”?
I think that Ortega pollen was used on various females.
I suspect that my particular plant was likely produced with some type of OG.
I
Ah. Ok. I was hoping to get some feedback on the pure Ortega, that’s supposedly a very pure kush, I thought.
The Ortega is a pure “kush” if by kush you mean old, pure Afghani/ Hindu Kush landrace kush. The Ortega Mix (currently - mixes change over time) is about 50/50 Ortega x Ortega and African Sherbet x Ortega Aftrican Sherbet is a Norcal outdoor Malawi-influenced cross called African Orange with Sunset Sherbet, a modern sweet fruity strain in the cookies & cake family. Both were bred against our Banana Ortega male.
The short Xmas tree phenos are the full kush Ortegas. Branchy phenos represent the African Sherbet heritage. Should be pretty easy to pick out. I prefer the Sherbet crosses, tastier fruity gas profile and more balanced head (less lockdown).

Well, we made it to 5 weeks of flowering, a little more than halfway to my 9 week target.

Nice looking run you have going. Always been a fan of Cindy…… and Sweettooth
Looks like maybe you got the African Ortega cross
Nice work! Beautiful plants and the buds look wonderful. I still have yet to grow the Cindy, er well, past a month (a chicken plucked it out of the pot, at about 12" tall, and left it laying on the ground). I have some fems so I’ll try again.
