I have no idea why. It’s gotta be the extra o2 I would assume.
I read about it somewhere once also.
But, I’ve tested a sample that has been sitting, and a sample from a bottle I just shook up. There is a difference.
I’ll try and find an article later.
Okay okay okay.
I wanna thank all of you for this monster dump of input. I’m gonna do a few things here in a minute.
Put my big ass ice cube in the res.
Pull the air stones.
Add another 30 gallons to the res to cut the nutrient strength in half and re adjust the pH back down.
Adjust the bucket flood, its way too high. I switched to smaller baskets with less hydroton and I didn’t account for the water displacement by all the hydroton I removed from the equation.
Y’all rock and I’ll be back with updates tomorrow.
I hope that my input was valuable to you, water level wize you want to make sure your rockwool cube stays dry, but still getting roots.
Nov 3 4:45pm before any changes are made
pH 6.21
Temp 75
Ppm 1085
EC 2.2
Hydro ph range i have the best luck with is 5.5 -6.2 i like to stay between 5.5 - 5.8 though as a 6.2 maximum limit.
Yeah everyone’s input has been greatly appreciated. I’ve been beating my head against the wall for the past 2 grows trying to figure this problem out.
I’m also wondering if the air stones absorbed what ever bad juju has been going on in the res, so I just removed them completely. I can agitate the water by hand like a savage if I want to oxygenate things
Ebb and flow does not at all require oxygenation. It pushes stale air out when it floods, and draws fresh air when it drains. Ive NEVER oxygenated my ebb system. Dwc of course is a whole different ballgame but ebb and flow oxygenates on its own from just flooding and draining. There actually is a dwc method that doesnt require an air stone and its basically just a miniature waterfall inside the dwc bucket that oxygenates from water pumping up from the resivoir/bucket then falling down from the pump outlet hitting the stagnant water and oxygenating. Think about a waterfall, where the water hits at the end of a waterfall is so oxygenated bacteria cant survive there to the point of it being safe to drink. One last thing, if your 55 gallon res has water fall into it from when it drains its oxygenating plenty just from that.
I lied this ONE last thing lol hydroton doesnt hold water for more than like an hour or two so youre likely underwatered and overnuted. If the roots are browning off when they come out of your basket that means more flood frequency. Hydrogaurd is an amazing product too for root innoculation.
Haha. I’ve changed so many variables, I don’t know what the plants are responding to favorably anymore. They are perking back up though.
I might wait a few more days before I put them back on getting watered every 2 hours.
I wanted to post a video but cant. In the background of this picture where my ebb table is draining (right side) that water falling into my resivoir is PLENTY of oxygenation.
Beautiful. I’m doing just fine on oxygenation then.
Don’t worry @Bobgrows nothing is stopping them this time! I got the whole god damn OG behind me on this one
That is oficially all the knowledge i have on this topic feel free to holler at me if you need any more info or assistance moving forward on other questions and ill offer up what i got!
You’ve been more than helpful and I appreciate all of it. It’s so weird, I keep making small changes here and there to my system and now all of a sudden it’s a complete piece of shit and I have no idea why. I don’t know what the one change or combination of changes I made led me a stray. So I’ll just keep working backwards until this thing cranks out monster buds once again.
Tbh neglect sometimes can be a good thing and loving them to death does happen. This post just stuck out to me cause that looks identical to the problems i had with my blue dynamite and grapefruit diesel which all stemmed from giving them nutes too early and not keeping em wet enough. This caused my roots to keep shriveling up, dying, then turning to sludge and rotting. You have a picture if where the roots are protruding from the bottom of the basket?
After i made chages:
For real im done with the info dump this time. Offer still stands hmu with anything.
Looking better already
Always good with a village!
You got this!
