Let's see those scrog screens

I’m sort of simple and cheap so here is mine. 2" x 3" garden wire, drilled holes, then poked and twisted the ends, through the tray lip. I also keep a piece in the ceiling of the tent to hang/hold stuff. Garden wire rocks.

Hi @Chronickyle, my plants are kind of bushy and spreading branches like crazy. They’re about to 2 to 3 feet tall. Do you think I should go ahead and rig some kind of scrog? Apart from topping and lst? Thanks.

Honestly it’s a hard question to answer my last grow my plants had no training and 2 of them I upotted them and planted them sideways litterally on a giant angle as sideways as I could get then I put them under my screen. The stems were very rigid so I had no other options. My other 2 plants had quite bendy stems so I just lowered the screen and trained them down a bit each day.

Thanks, it was part of my doubt. What | have in mind is exactly building a wooden square structure, and having four ratchets, one on each corner, ready to raise it time I want to. Question is, like you said, won’t the branches get kind of hard prior to us having to disentangle them before we raise the rig? Hope I was clear. Thanks again.

My rig is pretty much identical to as you described. I cut my plants main stem when done, raise my screen then cut and remove the rest of my branches from the screen. Has worked great so far. The branches to get pretty entangled in the screen due to training and the growth of the buds. I just cut and pull havnt had an issue yet, the odd bud breaks off but I’m trimming it to do that anyways so whatever. Lol

Got it. Sounds like a later stage than what I was trying to refer to but, so what, you’ve just taught me another lesson. It would be pretty close to harvesting. I think I got it. Thanks again, I’ll follow in your footsteps!

Oh okay not sure, I never raise mine till I’m done. The frame of the plant in flowring gets quite rigid and locked in. If I were to raise my screen while still attached to the plants it actually lifts my pots off the ground with the screen.

I prefer the fiber free plastic trellis. Need to find it with smaller 3inch holes. I just strap it on, banjo string tight, with mini zip ties.

Sitting on Harbor freight nipple clamps.

Does this look about right? Manifolded beforehand and have been kinda training. Decided to try an attempt at scrog. Look like it will work ok?

My first attempt at a scrog in my basement, week 1 of flower… looks like I’m gonna have to add another layer

Hi @Deadinside88, could the squares be a bit too small and make it hard for you to work around them? Loved the idea though, I’ll definitely use some kind of similar contraption and the like! Thanks.

Yeah its a little smaller than I would like but figured it was worth a try, squares are definitely on small side but I figure its worth a shot and a little creativity could go a long way hopefully.
Its actually the shelf thing that came as part of my tent but I don’t use the shelf due to height/size restriction.

great, and considering your young guns are “young,” tender branches will be on your side, hopefully! All the best!

Thays what I’m hoping, she already had a stress split at the “Y” that I had to tape back into place but it doesn’t seem to have slowed down growth. Supposed to be building new veg and flower area in room and giving tent to friend soon so hopefully will have more space to work with and try more scrogging.

Hey brother @Deadinside88, you’ve inspired me to take action and look around, and find a way to get my scrog going despite the lack of means or resources…

Went around and found some pvc, got some duct tape and voilá,

this one I made it adjustable so I either make it a tad shorter or longer, depending on my needs.
Whenever one is seemingly out of options, creativity is the mother of all invention!!!

I’ll probably drop the ratchet part and buy some chain in 2 meter length. @GramTorino thank you for the Zip tie tip… and I also put some cloth to minimize the risk of getting hurt on corners (I’m one of all clumsy ones out there). I’ve also tried those ready made elastic nets which are used on motorcycles but they were a bit too tight, not good.

Fuck yeah dude! That’s actually why I went with zip ties on mine, holds it in place but I can still slide it up and down the poles to adjust as needed. If it was in actual tent I’d do ratchet straps from ceiling for sure.

Hey @Deadinside88 as well as any other experienced, got a bit curious, @GramTorino

How thick should the strings on the trellis be? when you say string tight, I’ve seen a number of them with a kind of loose and flexible. I know the average is about 15cm squares, I like the way yours looks. I’m debating thickness of lines and tightness. You kind of interlaced every spot the squares meet, correct? Thanks.

I buy the trellis netting and install it on my pvc frame.

This is the polyester string type.

Be sure to get the hole size you want.

This is actually my first attempt at scrogging, normally I do staking and lst, hst, etc. And had used a wire shelf that came with my tent as my scrog net/screen. Gonna try my hand at making a legit one soon. Thinking I want to do independent scroggs so that I can move plants as needed with their own nets for mobility. I think main concern for thickness/diameter of string/material is so that it’s not so thin that it cuts into plant . I gotta check around d to see what materials i have around to work with. Think I have jute twine from dollar store but seems like its to loose and would leave hairs/strands in bud?

Got it. Nice one. I guess a bit more diy, lol…! I’m planning on rigging it myself, and I’ve just noticed it’s made of polyester, and problably thinner and more flexible than this “rope.” Thanks as always.
